hertruth.
she smirks as she watches him realize his grave mistake. heâs so SLOW, sometimes. most of the time. he is quick to draw his sonic, eliciting a laugh from the master. she raises her hands in an act of surrender, or thatâs what is SEEMS to be. instead, itâs an offensive move.Â
she snaps her fingers, andâ VOILA, the doors slam shut. she takes this moment to her advantage, as he is too distracted to stop her from pushing the tardisâ and his buttons simultaneously. soon enough, she hears a DING ! andâ it pops out. her laser screwdriver pops out, she KNOWS itâs hers, but it looks⊠different. not a bad different. it mustâve been upgraded with his tardis. how convenient! by the time heâs turned back to face her, sheâs holding her own SONIC SCREWDRIVER in her hand.
â iâve been meaning to get this back! â she declares, rolling it back and forth. â two can play at this gameâ â she adds, raising her weapon and pointing it at him, creating a STALEMATE of sorts. â itâs been a while since iâve last seen you, and wellâ i do love victorian times, donât you? i think i might just keep coming back. â
heâs almost ready to fire his device at her, knowing full well that itâs not primarily a weapon. his aim is to shock her ââ the console refusing to help her as it becomes overloaded with energy. but she laughs, and removes her hands from it, almost as if she were surrendering. but he didnât notice her hand forming into a snap, and he looks back as she does it â the doors close, and heâs completely confused, unaware of what the master was doing behind him.Â
he hears the ding, and itâs what prompts him to turn back around. the doctor had forgotten about her device, hidden it away in his tardis after its previous use. when he redecorated it mustâve reskinned with it. and now itâs in her hands, and the doctor is on high alert.Â
she points her weapon at him and he readjusts it, aiming it at her own sonic instead. the doctor plans his next moves carefully, trying to pick up on anything that she may say that could figure out why sheâs really here.
â    it IS all a game to you, isnât it ? you couldâve called me. though i donât think i wouldâve picked up. â the doctor keeps his eyes on her, however, noticing her choice in wording. â coming back, eh ? is it because the people youâve hypnotized into your pets are here ? â
hertruth.
she steps in, CAREFUL of her own satisfaction getting in the way. sheâd made itâ she had actually pulled her little plan off! not all the way, not really. sheâs got to keep the ACT up for a little bit longer before she can let the curtains close.
â itâsâ smaller on the outside!  â she says with ( fake ) amazement. she knows how much heâs come to love the BIGGER ON THE INSIDE comment, and this is her one chance to really mess with him. HMM. showâs over, though. the masterâs just too impatient. she turns away from him, slipping on her favourite accessory.Â
she faces the console, giving the entire thing a once-over, running her now gloved fingertips delicately across the surface. â you know, i think i MIGHT just remember how to fly this thing. â
everything seems to play out as normal. sheâs said her smaller on the outside comment, and offers her a chuffed expression instead of his confused one as experienced earlier. itâs not a first anymore. she does do something different, however. she didnât turn away from him before ââ that was NEW. not necessarily good, either. her arms had lifted up and it appears that she was putting something on, and he hoped it wasnât what he thought it was.Â
she turned around to face him and he noticed her now coy expression as she hovers over to the console. he was right. just as he feared, her hands were leathered. a new trademark of the masterâs, one he grew to despise.
he scowls at her comment ââ rage fueling his entire being as he realized that heâd been tricked by this incarnation once again, that she was behind all of it.
â    you ââ youâre the disruption ! you decided to go back here and pretend to be one of her splinters ? just for a LAUGH ? â the doctor reached into his coat pocket and pulled out his sonic screwdriver, aiming it where her hands were hovering.
â donât you dare press any buttons. â
â    here we are! home sweet getaway car ! or ââ ship, rather. â the doctor pushes his door inward, inviting âclaraâ into his ship. she couldnât have known about it prior, so heâs sure the bigger on the inside would surprise her. he remembers running into this clara before, back when he had only just began to solve the mystery. he felt a disruption in the timeline and had travelled alone to investigate, playing out events as they had happened before. he was waiting for it now, her comment on it. it was unique, he remembers. the doctor decided to play his part.
â itâs called the TARDIS. it can travel anywhere in time and space ââ and itâs mine ! â
@hertruth.
hertruth.
â how? how could you POSSIBLY help me? â
she means both in the sense of 1) how could he help a person like her and 2) what could he do that she hasnât tried? â-but sheâll let him interpret her question as he wishes.
heâs not sure how exactly he can answer that question. but it doesnât stop him from thinking of an answer. hands find their way to either side of her head, eyes not looking away from her. he was the doctor, so why shouldnât he be able to heal a patient ? â    iâll figure it out. you know me, master. whether or not you like it, i always find ways around my limitations. â he gives her a pitiful smile, not exactly sure if sheâll believe it. perhaps he could never help her. the doctor wanted nothing more than to do so, however.
â    i can help you get rid of the noise. i can try ââ if you let me. â
@hertruth.
hands him a receipt for $542 worth of spray paint with no explanation.
iâm sorry,,,,,,do i know u
hertruth.
she smirks as he draws near. heâs got to be thinking of questions faster than he could ask them, and it provides the best satisfaction to herâ and itâs all CUT SHORT when he ignores her. that was something only she was allowed to do to him, didnât he know that by now?
â SAY. MY. NAME. ADMIT IT. â
she offers five words as a response, throwing his questions to the side. the master wasnât about to do ANYTHING until her wants were met, and she had all of time to be stubborn. the human race didnât have that long, but she couldnât care less. the doctor did care, thoughâ what a fault of his.Â
he remembers the promise he made a few moments ago. alright, iâll play your little game. and so he holds it true. the doctorâs mind runs all over the place ( when doesnât it ) as he comes to accept what he cannot change. ( my best friend, my oldest enemy. here, in the flesh. ) perhaps giving in to her demands would solve this cyberman ordeal quicker.
he swallows. whatâs about to leave his throat is something he never thought heâd say for years. or ever. but the fate of the planet depended on it, acknowledging the present. facing the ultimate evil ââ clara oswald, the impossible girl, was no more.
â    scum of the universe. the most rotten being to ever exist, the most terrifying and evil thing to walk among us. my friend........... âÂ
   finally, he properly accepts it.
   â MASTER. â
hertruth.
â youâre getting ahead of yourself, donât you think ? â
she pauses, COMPLETELY ignoring his pleas of help for the poor, innocent people. now this was the reaction she so desired. the confusion. the panic. it was better than she had imagined ( by playing this scene over & over in her imagination. )Â
â i am THE MASTER. i want you to say it back to me. tell me who i am, so i know you arenât denying it. because itâs me. itâs been me, all this time. and thisâ â a vague gesture to their surroundings ( the cyberman army ) before she continues, â could have been stopped, if only you had known. if only you had figured it out. â
the doctor storms over to her. anger flows in his entire being as his mind comprehends what sheâs just told him. ( out from hiding, out from gallifrey ââ does that mean she knows where it is ? ) he has more questions ââ more thoughts clouding him. how did she escape ? when did she regenerate ? why did she save me ? he listens to the time lady as she gives him her orders. ( some things never change ) confident he can gain the upper hand, the doctor decides internally that he refuses.
the master ended up being quite the shorter woman coming out of her regeneration. he stares down at her as he begins to think of a solution. ( it would be much easier with clara around )
â    how are you controlling the cybermen ? what do you plan to do with them ? â
hertruth.
she was almost too eager to see his reaction upon the BIG REVEAL. she stares him down, memorizing the scowl on his face. huh. of course he wouldnât accept it right awayâ too much hope and faith stored in his impossible girl.
â all these years made you dull, doctor. really. you donât recognize your lifelong friend? is the face throwing you off too much? â
sheâll let him jump to the conclusion, and then if she has to ( sheâll do it anyway, actually ) sheâll just come out and say it. SHEâS THE MASTER.
heâs confused. digging through all of the possible meanings to her words ââ you donât recognize your lifelong friend ? heâs had a lot of those, lost a lot. who could it ââÂ
  no. it canât be.
he died, he saw him die ââ he canât have come back, as a woman no less, itâs ââ IMPOSSIBLE.Â
his scowl turns to horror as he realizes what she means. it was all a front, a trick, a trap. he wasnât wrong after all. clara oswald has never existed. she canât exist. itâs impossible.
â    listen to me, listen, you donât know what youâre doing ! innocent people are in danger and you could put all of their lives in jeopardy ââ â
hertruth.
â you really donât know? oh, i thought you were clever. i did, until now. you see, i am not clara oswald. clara oswald has NEVER existed. iâll give you a moment to wrap your mind around that fact. i think you need it. â
his face turns into a scowl as he turns to confront âclaraâ. or so he thought it was her. clara oswald has never existed ââ the sentence echoes in his head ( echoing through time and space ) and he doesnât like what heâs up against. clara ââ ruler of the cybermen ? it couldnât be.
but it was.
â    alright then, iâll play your little game. if clara oswald has never existed, then WHO ARE YOU ? â
â    horrifying. every man, woman and child on planet earth is a cyberman and you arenât fazed one BIT. if i knew better iâd say that you, clara oswald, were somehow involved. how and why ? â
my lipstick is red, your snogbox is blue, you love me & we all know it too :)
â    hard pass. we all know i despise you. â
