(not proofread so i apologize if thereโs any mistakes)
dating josh dun was magnetic. the connection between you felt effortlessโso intense it should of been overwhelming, yet somehow it never was.
the ohio sky was showing off that evening. streaks of orange and yellow melted across the horizon, casting the streets in a warm glow. the scent of fresh daises drifted through the air as you and josh made your way home from dinner, your apartment only a few blocks away.
his hand was wrapped around yours, fingers laced tightly between your own as if letting go wasnโt an option.
โyou look pretty tonight.โ josh said softly, his gaze lingering on you for a moment longer than usual.
heat rose to your cheeks almost instantly. you glanced away with a soft smile, pretending to be more interested in the flowers than in the way he was looking at you.
โthank you.โ you replied softly, your eyes finally meeting his quickly as you triedโand failedโto hide how flustered you were.
he noticed your smile and moved to kiss the side of your head softly, his lips lingering for a second after before he pulled away.
a cold breeze swept down the sidewalk, nipping at your skin and rustling the trees. josh instinctively stepped closer, brushing against your side. you slipped your hand from his and looped it around his arm instead, setting comfortably against him as you continued walking.
by the time you reached home, the evening had settled into a quiet calm. your shared apartment welcomed you with warmth as you stepped inside. shoes were kicked off near the door, and jackets were tossed carelessly onto opposite ends of the couch. before you could wander any farther, josh appeared behind you, his arms circling your waist with ease.
you melted against him, and for a moment, neither of you spoke. the familiar sent of home surrounded you, and everything felt so simple.
nothing else mattered. just you, josh, and the quiet comfort of being home.
