A bit of the process...
Add some yeehaw. Just adds some face-like-quality to it, yeah? To explain the second image, with all the colours: I sweep red across the bridge of the nose, blue on the chin, and yellow/orange on the forehead, lower the opacity, mix and smudge it to taste, then set the layer to whatever looks cool (in this case just multiply, at low-to-mid opacity.) It’s a good technique for some skin types.
After that, painted it all together. Sometimes I’ll paint on one layer with the sketch above it, but in this instance it was all on the same layer (except the white background). Using a regular hard edge brush w pressure sensitivity enabled for opacity, trying to keep it textural and making sure to re-add contrast where blending has diminished it. For details such as the eye, just referred to the sketchy version as I was going to make sure the overall look was the same even as I cleaned it up.Â
