“What’s it like to be a history major?”
I want all my followers to feel loved and appreciated and also to value analytical historical study that takes into account the impact of traditionally white supremacist/misogynistic/transphobic/imperialist academic structures on how we conceptualize “history”
The Joy and the Wonder of Being a History Major
What are my fellow history majors reading?
Not to be dramatic but when will I join a secret society that exists vaguely timelessly where everyone communicates with pretentious quotes :/
just become a classics major
Im in such a lost place rn about what I want to do and where I want to go. Is anyone a history major or in a history related field? I could really use some help
Hey, american history majors!
How was your formation on historiography? Here in my college we have 3 subjects (i don’t know if that’s how you say it) on Historiography- intro to historical studies, 19th century historiographical thought, and 20th century historiographical thought. How’s it on American colleges?
At least at my university in the US, it depends on whether or not you’re in the honors program. All history majors are required to take Intro to Historical Interpretation. Non-honors students also complete a senior capstone called the Research and Writing Seminar. But honors students take the capstone their junior year, in addition to a class called Historiography and Methodology. The honors senior year is spent writing a thesis and taking the Honors Thesis Seminar. All of these courses involve an aspect of historiography.
Most of the historiography of specific subfields of history is taught in classes within that subfield (e.g. American Civil War historiography is largely taught in an elective course called Civil War and Reconstruction).
writing advice: never italicize words to show emphasis! if you’re writing well then the reader will know and you don’t need them!
me: oh really??? listen up, pal, you can just try an pull italics from my cold, dead fingers
I feel this on a spiritual level.

i like my major until i edit my papers at the last minute then i contemplate dropping out of school completely
if you like history we should be friends and talk about it together bc that’s all I do
Since the beginning of the Great Recession in 2007, the history major has lost significant market share in academia, declining from 2.2% of all undergraduate degrees to 1.7%. Why are college students turning away from studying history as preparation for a future as citizens and workers?

Hey guys!
My name is Casey and I’m a 20-year-old college student from California! I was inspired to make my own studyblr by all the GORGEOUS pictures of notes I’ve been seeing all over the place. Y’all have inspired me to want to study harder and make my notes something that I actually want to look at! :)
