Seeing in some spaces how people still doubt if Palestinians are facing genocide, I am curious:

To be absolutely, unmistakably clear; this is a genocide. It has been FOUR MONTHS since Israel's most recent attack on the Palestinian people started, and decades since they first began to kill, torture, and otherwise mistreat Palestinians. They push Palestinians out of their homeland further and further south in Gaza and continue to bomb them despite continually saying they'll be safe if they keep moving to the places they bomb. Their objective is to kill as many Palestinians as possible while also maintaining an image of trying to "help" Palestinians out of areas they publicly plan to bomb. Make no mistake, they will do this in the West Bank after, claiming that "Hamas" has infiltrated the area despite Hamas having no presence there. YOU ARE COMPLICIT if you are silent, if you somehow "aren't convinced", or you think this isn't a genocide. I DO NOT CARE IF YOU DON'T LIKE POLITICS. Your continued silence is equal parts sickening and pathetic.

I think the recent racism discourse in the tadc fandom perfectly exemplifies how many "leftist" spaces are actually very conservative in practice and that it largely in part due to black-and-white-thinking as well as (mainly white) people's resistance to true intersectionality because they overly prioritize comfort and are thus unwilling to question their own racist programming.

Like you can actually decide for yourself how the creators' past racist transgressions (that have affected black people) should dictate your enjoyment of the show without dismissing and shutting down black people's voices in the process-- and you should stand by your choices regardless of what you think people may insist it says about you, as long as you believe you've given it serious thought and consideration through an empathetic and informed lens.

However, if your attachment to the show and your own comfort takes priority over real people's real issues, then I fear you are part of the exact problem you insist isn't real. It is a racist micro-aggression to tell black people what they should or shouldn't feel hurt by and then shame them for bringing attention to it, just because it makes you feel like a bad person by association. Point blank period.

We need to question our knee-jerk reaction to defend ourselves as non-racists in the context of racism that doesn't affect us, always, and we also need to learn how to take a step back while we let those affected take center stage as we listen and reflect on ourselves before we decide to share our opinions about it-- lest we continue the cycle of exclusionary bigotry, even if it seems minor in the grand scheme of things.

I'm not here to tell anyone what to think, do, or say. I'm not even gonna share what I've chosen to do as of now. That's still up to you at the end of the day, but I do think it was worth bringing up because I found the "backslash of the backlash" to be very disappointing, albeit not surprising, and I encourage you to reflect on it as dismissing it and holding no room for nuance is unfortunately very telling.

Those are just my two cents.

Honestly when I was a lot younger i loved bcb and related to Lucy a LOT in terms of how bitter you can get when the people you care about endlessly sexualize you, and the way that inhibits you from showing genuine, unguarded interest in the person/people you're actually attracted to. It manifests in really unhealthy behavior and while Lucy isn't perfect I understood. A long standing issue of the bcb community is that they very much do not understand. Especially in more recent years i've sat back and watched the woobification of male characters who either took advantage of Lucy at her low points or completely destroyed her to the point of nearly ending her own life in the biggest climax of the earliest parts of the comic. Mike is the worst example of this but Paulo also comes to mind. When a female character does something in the comic the community is far less charitable and so too is the comic. It's very disappointing. I also really think it's weird that Lucy's abusive behavior (the comic was very much created during the "it's funny and cute when women are violent!" period of the internet and it shows) has escalated this way when Paulo and David's sexual harassment and assault in the early days of the comic especially have been quietly forgotten about.

Oh, sorry I didn't laugh at your joke that was at the expense of bisexual women. I was under the impression that making harmful generalizations about women based on their gender and sexuality was only funny if you were a misogynist who in this case also centers men, but maybe that's just me.
