I wrote down everything I remember about my Lola:
1) When I was around 7, we spent summer in Oroquieta. Lola took me to church and she put on me a pearl necklace and earrings, and lipstick.
2) When we were kids, Lola would take us to the city plaza and would buy us balloons.
3) During meals, Lola would always remind me and my sister to finish our food. It’s a no-no to waste a single grain.
4) Her favourite - inun-unan, mais plus mangga. She would also add calamansi sa iya inun-unan.
5) Her favourite lines - “Praise the Lord!” and “God is good all the time.”
6) She would randomly sing “How Great Thou Art.”
7) She was a retired teacher and a very good pianist. I wish I inherited her skills in piano.
8)Her bedside table had a flashlight, a Bible, a notebook, and a pen.
9) She always smelled good with Johnsons’ baby cornstarch powder.
10)Joyride and walking were her favourite activities.
11) Whenever Uncle Ernie would sing “Ang tigulang..”, Lola would then dance her signature moves.
12) We would always spend our Sunday lunch at Lola’s place and it’s always filled with seafoods
13) Her favourite donut -bavarian filled donut from Dunkin.
14)Lola said that Lolo Titoy (whom I’ve never met) is a very good person.
15) “Mind over heart with prayers.” - her advice when it comes to matters of the heart.
And many more!!! You are always remembered, always in our hearts, Lola Liling
