The crowd was murmuring, fascinated by the appearance of the woman who stood now before them. No, perhaps fascinated was not the right word…their eyes were glazed over, and the words they were muttering made no sense. They were caught in some sort of trance, staring at the one addressing them from the podium on the large stage.
The woman in black, with all the grace and elegance of a queen, smiled.
“Shameless filthy wretches." This time, her voice was stronger, stabbing into the crowd who could only support her with their gazes, their murmurings. They took the insults like compliments, welcoming her arrival with the greatest of respect. It was a bizarre view, almost like a puppet show, with this woman…no, this sorceress, as the great master behind the play.
“How you celebrate my ascension with such joy! Hailing the very one you have condemned for generation. Have you no shame? What happened to the evil, ruthless sorceress from your fantasies? The cold-blooded tyrant that slaughtered countless men and destroyed many nations?" The mocking sound of laughter emerged from her throat as she spread her arms. "Where is she now? She stands before your very eyes to b̨e̵c͝omè you͞r̷ n͏éw͟ ru͠l͢er! ͢A̵HA҉H͢A̕H͟A̧H́AH̵A͟HAHA͢H͢A̢!́!͟! A new era has just begun!!”
A man approached from the side, his face twisted in worry. “E-Edea…are you all right?" For some reason, he did not seem to be held by the same spell as the crowd. He wasn’t watching her with fascination and adoration, but with fear. "Ede—!”
Before he could finish his statement, however, ‘Edea’, without even looking at him, reached out a hand — ending in razor sharp claws — and pierced him through the chest. With one arm, she lifted the man, already a corpse, into the air. “This is reality," she announced with a cold voice. "No one can help you. Sit back and enjoy the show.”
Then, without a care, she tossed the man back as if he were just a bag of trash. His body hit the wall, then collapsed, completely forgotten.
“I was an active woman, wasn’t I?" The voice came from beside the spectator, chuckling, but also a tad resigned. "How long ago was it when I stood there on that stage? The poor man was that crowd’s president. They didn’t even shudder, did they? Watch them cheer me on, the poor dears.”
They were standing together, outside of the action, unseen, seeing all. The sorceress and the guest inside of her mind. With crimson lips, Ultimecia smiled, watching her partner carefully.
“Shall we continue to watch? It is no doubt a beautiful spectacle.”
