And so my first week of work ends! Today was pretty laid-back since I worked from home. This morning, I went to the local stationery store to buy some supplies for my office. I really liked this neighborhood around Berkeley since it reminded me so much of Abbot Kinney in Los Angeles.

Almost done with my first week of work! I'm still busy with getting onboarding done but I finally got my ID today. I had lunch today at a local café and I really liked the vibes, I loved that they offered pumpkin spice latte since there isn't a Starbucks near my workspace. Afterwards, I went to the library to complete some research tasks while getting acquainted with UC Berkeley's campus. I really like checking out the East Asian Library and seeing the books they offered! We also have a library for Asian Studies at UCLA but it's a lot smaller.

Productive things I did today:
finished creating a single file with all the parts of my thesis (tomorrow I'll work on the conclusion and send it to the professor, so that I'll be done with my work until she sends me more corrections)
update my reading journal
did my inktober doodle of the day
practiced Irish on duolingo
Self care things I did today:
read first thing in the morning
continued working on my crochet project which has now changed from a cardigan to a sweater becuase it makes more sense with what I have done till now (I have to figure out a way to make the neck and I also have to pray the gods the final result will look nice)
started listening to a new audiobok (I started The Atlas Six, I am at the very beginning, about one hour in, and I must say that until now it's not pulling me in that much, but I am curious to know what the hype was all about)

Big life update - I work at UC Berkeley now! I started my first day of work today. Most of it was spent doing onboarding work and getting to know the campus. During break, I stumbled upon this really cool library that has some fossils in it!
Now Playing: "I Put a Spell on You" - Sanderson Sisters
I don‘t know if anyone still remembers the Grammarly advertisement from a few years ago, but I once visited that very library in Seattle, WA.

What a day! Shared some online references application tutorial with my friend in the morning. At noon, attended the first offline fall semester kick off meeting at the main campus. My head was kind of spinning to be presented in the room with so many people after more than two years get used to online meetings.
On the way home, my train suffered technical trouble. After a couple of failed attempts to restart the train, they announced that all the passengers have to wait longer or change onto other transportation mode. I choose to continue by bus. Unfortunately though, I miss the bus stop since I was too busy texting Steven about the train trouble. So I have to walked extra miles to come home.

After taking a year out from college during thr pandemic, I'm back in for the last semester of 3rd year. Feels really weird to be back
Have no shame in making mistakes while trying to figure everything out. The goal is to live a joyful life, not a perfect one.

I am entirely consumed by my dissertation. After months and months of stagnation and brain fog, to work so hard at something and actually see progress is bliss.
