"Only demand creates jobs"
Shout it from the mountaintops. Trickle-down is bullshit.
Best description of Trump I have ever read. By Oliver Kornetzke August 18, 2025 Behold. The festering carcass of American rot shoved into an ill-fitting suit: the sleaze of a conman, the cowardice of a draft dodger, the gluttony of a parasite, the racism of a Klansman, the sexism of a back-alley creep, the ignorance of a bar-stool drunk, and the greed of a hedge-fund ghoul-all spray-painted orange and paraded like a prize hog at a county fair. Not a president. Not even a man. Just the diseased distillation of everything this country swears it isn't but has always been-arrogance dressed up as exceptionalism, stupidity passed off as common sense, cruelty sold as toughness, greed exalted as ambition, and corruption worshiped like gospel. It is America's shadow made flesh, a rotting pumpkin idol proving that when a nation kneels before money, power, and spite, it doesn't just lose its soul-it sh*ts out this bloated obscenity and calls it a leader.
Republican hypocrisy is truly incredible . . .
Simple.
So, first he worked to weaken democracy via appointing only sycophantic adoring enablers, silencing critical media, and acting like a mafia boss to his party. If it looks like fascism, smells like fascism and walks like fascism, it’s probably fascism. I’m not sure if this was intentional and planned out as I’m not sure I can give him credit of the intelligence necessary to plan such an outcome. He’s just that vindictive.
Now he’s seemingly working on weakening the U.S. economy. Is this because he truly is that naive about how economies work? (I think that at least partially true). Or, is it because he is so narcissistic that he cannot bear the idea of ever being wrong. (Remember the marker he used to draw the path of the hurricane?). Since he trotted out the idea of tariffs, he’s now doubling down on them, despite this being proven to be among the stupidest of trade policies.
When will his elected party wake from their stupor? Surely they must realize the risk. They can’t all be that stupid and short sighted - can they?
It amazes me how the National Park Service is the most vocal department against Fascism. Even the Democrats are a mumble when compared to these park rangers' adamant denouncement and exposing of this administration. Support our bravest federal workers who keep our world one worth living in.
Tax cuts for billionaires are the epitome of wasteful spending.
This isn't just your granny. This was your mom too. And it many ways it's absolutely still going.
Marital rape became illegal in 1993 but is still not prosecuted in many places.
Roe v Wade is dead and women's rights to their own bodies is not codified in law.
Almost all medical testing and development testing is done on men, usually cisgender white men of average build. This has far reaching consequences and thousands of women die every year because the treatments being applied were not designed for them. Artificial hearts fit men about 80% of the time. For women that number is 20%. There are so many examples of ways this type of testing and development harms people, take a moment to read up on it when you can.
Women are more likely to get custody in a separation, but not support. Unless the spouse she is getting away from can and will follow support arrangements, she is on her own. Same for new mothers of any variety. No paid leave, no childcare, no real mental health support despite alarming rates of ppd and related conditions. Nada. You will be heavily criticized and possibly have your child taken from you if you fail to thrive in these circumstances.
Women are still regularly fired for getting pregnant/having a baby. Is it illegal? Well yes and no, states like mine with at-will employment don't have to provide a reason for the termination, or will just make one up. Performance issues, attendance, attitude, whatever. There is little to no recourse.
The list goes on. There is so much to it. Social dynamics, what is considered normal, legal loopholes and straight-up discriminatory laws still on the books and more being added. I can't enumerate it all here but it is worth knowing about.
And this all includes everyone socially and/or legally perceived as a woman btw. They will assign you "woman" based on what they are trying to do. Trans women, intersex people, trans men, nonbinary people, GNC people, absolutely anyone and everyone under the queer umbrella, they will call a man to paint as a predator and deny support, and a woman to paint as weak and deny rights. It's nuanced, it's complicated, there's a lot to it, but it is a very real and still existing problem. For all of us, regardless of identity.
Celebrate the progress, celebrate the wins, celebrate how far we've come. But don't speak of it like it's a thing of the past. Posts like this are a call to keep moving forward, not just a glimpse at life in the past to observe like a museum exhibit.

Governor’s budget plan cracks down on insurance companies and prescription price gouging, lowers out-of-pocket healthcare costs, aims to red
From a press release from the governor's office:
"Gov. Tony Evers... during his 2025-27 Biennial Budget Message, announced his 2025-27 Executive Budget will make sweeping changes to the healthcare industry in Wisconsin to address the frustrating challenges Wisconsinites face every day simply trying to get the healthcare they need.Â
Gov. Evers tonight announced several key initiatives to crack down on insurance companies and prescription price gouging; reduce appointment wait times and enable Wisconsinites to get care closer to home; lower out-of-pocket healthcare costs for medication and insulin; require health insurance companies to automatically cover more healthcare services and procedures with no delays and hassles; prevent surprise medical billing and reporting unpaid medical debt to collections and credit bureaus; and provides new hospital investments to improve healthcare access statewide, including in Wisconsin’s rural communities. As part of Gov. Evers’ comprehensive plan to lower costs for working families, he is also proposing to eliminate the sales tax on over-the-counter medications, which would save Wisconsinites a projected $70 million over the next two years.
Gov. Evers hears from Wisconsinites who feel like they are not getting a fair shake from the healthcare industry, especially their health insurers...
Gov. Evers is proposing solutions to address the frustrating challenges Wisconsinites face with sweeping changes to the healthcare industry in Wisconsin:Â
Gov. Evers is proposing to make Wisconsin the first state in America to start auditing insurance companies over denying Wisconsinites’ healthcare claims. If an insurance company is denying Wisconsinites’ claims too often, we’re going to audit them.Â
The governor also proposes creating an office that, for the first time in state history, would be devoted to helping Wisconsinites hold health insurers accountable and ensuring folks get the health insurance coverage they pay for.Â
Gov. Evers is proposing to create new standards to expand the healthcare services and procedures that insurance companies are required to cover. This means more healthcare services and procedures will be covered by Wisconsinites’ health insurance automatically—no delays, no hassle, no questions asked.Â
Gov. Evers is proposing to require health insurance companies to be more transparent with Wisconsinites up front and before Wisconsinites purchase their health plan. Under Gov. Evers’ plan, health insurance companies would have to tell Wisconsinites from the get-go which services and treatments will require prior approval so Wisconsinites can find a health plan that is right for them.Â
Wisconsinites should not have to wait weeks and months to get an appointment or have to travel long distances to get the care they need. The governor’s plan also helps to make sure Wisconsinites can get the healthcare they need when and where they need it—quicker and closer to home—by enabling the creation of statewide standards for maximum wait times for scheduling appointments. Gov. Evers also proposes to make sure the services healthcare insurance companies cover are available within a minimum time and distance of the Wisconsinite buying their health plan.Â
Gov. Evers also proposes cracking down on surprise medical bills and the healthcare industry sending unpaid medical bills to collections or reporting to credit bureaus. Gov. Evers’ plan would require health providers to give Wisconsinites notice of unpaid medical bills and would give Wisconsinites a six-month grace period by banning healthcare providers from reporting unpaid medical debt to collections or credit bureaus during that time.Â
No one should be in a mental health crisis wondering whether insurance will cover an in-patient stay to get help. Gov. Evers also proposes banning health insurance companies from requiring pre-approval for in-patient mental health services so Wisconsinites in crisis can be safe and get life-saving care."
As part of Gov. Evers’ plan to lower out-of-pocket costs for working families, make healthcare more affordable, and crack down on price gouging, Gov. Evers last month announced his “Less for Rx” plan to lower prescription drug prices, improve oversight of drug companies, and protect consumers from price gouging on their medications, including removing the sales tax on over-the-counter medications, which will result in a projected total of $70 million in annual savings, setting price ceilings for prescriptions, capping the cost of insulin copays to $35, and protecting Wisconsinites from price gouging on prescriptions."
