Atlantis Attic

This past weekend I was on the hunt for a belated Valentine’s Day present for my boyfriend. I wanted to get him a new coat. I headed to Atlantis Attic, located in East Williamsburg. The store is packed with men’s military boots and jackets, fur coats, jeans coats and endless amount of tee shirt and sweatshirts.  Everything ranges from $ 10 to $60. It is a thrifter’s paradise. I could not decide on what to purchase so I ended up purchasing three different items. The first if a green Buxbak jacket, the second a Carhart jacket and lastly a 1950’s snow suit. I am not sure what I was thinking with the snowsuit. It ended up being $60 all together, so the snowsuit is an added bonus.

I highly recommend going to Atlantis Attic if you are interested in buying a coats. The store has a great selection of fur, leather, and jean and down coats. I do suggest taking your purchases to the dry cleaner ASAP!!

Seven Wonders Vintage

I am headed to Mexico in two weeks during my Spring Break. With little closet space in my new apartment in Brooklyn, I have been slowly getting rid of clothes I no longer wear, in order to make room for new clothes. I was on the hunt for a long dress that I can wear during my vacation. 

So I went to check out the vintage shops in Greenpoint. While walking along Manhattan Avenue, I came across an adorable vintage shop called, Seven Wonders Vintage. The owner/buyer was extremely knowledgeable of all things vintage. She had great pieces. I came across this amazing, pink, white and orange tie-dyed dress.

Vice Versa Vintage

I have been on the hunt for a large bag that I can use for school. I started my search and Malin Landeaus, located just off Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, but I found that everything was way out of my price range. I decided to talk down the street to another one of my favorites vintage stores, Vice Versa. I hit the store at the right time, there was practically no one shopping. I was quickly distracted by the array of fur coats in the back of the room and lots track of what I was on the hunt for. And then out of the corner of my eye I spotted a gem! I am now the proud owner of this new bag:

Thrifting in Brooklyn.

A year ago I was living in Portland, Oregon. In 2009, Portland was named the #1 unhappiest city in the country.  The unhappiness is caused by the lack of sunshine in the Pacific Northwest. In fact one year there were over 250 cloudy days. Depressing, I know. So after four years of being vitamin D deficient, I decided to relocate to Manhattan. A couple months later, I moved to Brooklyn. 

 When I abandoned ship in Portland I left most of my possessions behind, which meant I had to buy all new furniture (stuff). I have now been living in Brooklyn for three months and I am happy to say I finally have furnished apartment. So I bet you are wondering how a college student was able to afford to furnish an apartment? Well I bought everything at vintage store and fleas markets. So from here on out I will give you an insight on where to shop vintage in Brooklyn, NY.
