Your eyes snap open from their drowsy state and attach themselves on a pacing Ethan, whose weary eyes were trained on you and Grayson. Considering it being around 1:00am, all you had the energy to do was lie down on the purple couch and nap, however, the boys desperately needed help – although you aren’t providing much – with the upcoming Tuesday’s video. Grayson, with his fingers intertwined in your hair kneading your scalp, which didn’t help your case, bit his lip in concentration and attempted to think of an idea that hasn’t previously been offered. He splutters out a few ideas only to have them dismissed by either himself or Ethan and when he isn’t talking he’s sneaking a few worried glimpses at your very much worn out state.
“What abo –” Grayson was interrupted by Ethan’s loud screech.
“I’ve got it! This is going to be so freakin’ awesome. . .” Ethan rambled on and on about his idea, illustrating on a tiny whiteboard with an almost empty marker on how he wanted the video to go and how he wanted it filmed exactly, but it wasn’t like you really cared, you just wanted to sleep. You’d been running errands for the boys all day, the least they could do was give you the time to sleep.
Ethan’s rambling turned into strict orders and you holding the camera. Your eyes squint, not only in sleepiness but concentration, you knew how stressed the boy’s got when something didn’t go right for a video and you didn’t have the effort to be on the receiving end of their frustrations.
Your eyes attach themselves to the window, the moonlight gleaming through it and capturing your attention. The moon is so soothing you swear you could fall asleep standing up just listening to the sound of the wind rustling the tree branches or the sound of crickets chir –
“(Y/N), are you even listening?” Ethan snapped.
“Huh? What? Sorry, I’m tired,” You gush out apologetically, holding the camera back up to your face as your hands unconsciously lowered. Grayson gives you a questioning but concerned look and you just give him a slight, drained smile in response.
“Seriously? C’mon, we’re all tired but we gotta work hard, okay? We need to post on time!” You know Ethan is just stressed, and his snappy tone wasn’t an attack on you personally. But you’re running on a few hours of sleep and your drowsy state is only making you more sensitive to his harsh tone.
“I’ve been working hard all day, for you two! Why can’t I just get some rest?” Shoulders sagging and your eyes droopy, Grayson can clearly see you’re reaching your breaking point and rushes towards you, grasping the camera that hands loosely in your hands and placing it on the coffee table.
“It’s alright, we’ve still got a few days to film, man. Don’t sweat it,” Grayson tries to calm specifically Ethan down, knowing how dramatic his twin can be. Ethan huffs, shaking his head and looking at the time. Ethan avoids Grayson’s stern frown and looks in the direction of his room.
“Fine, whatever. Night,” Ethan stomps off, leaving you and Grayson alone in the quiet.
“I’m sorry,” You whisper. “I didn’t mean to make him mad, babe. I’m really tired,” You rest your forehead on Gray’s chest, wrapping your fingers around his waist and cuddling into his warmth. His large arms wrap around you in reaction, his head resting against your neck. You feel him kiss your pulse sweetly, calmly. You love the quiet moments like this when everything is silent and it’s only the two of you that exist.
“You know what Ethan is like,” Grayson murmurs, “he’s tired and stressed out, he doesn’t mean to be rude. He’ll be like a kicked puppy tomorrow morning, begging for your forgiveness. I bet you $10.”
You laugh, not accepting the bet because you know that’s exactly what’ll happen. You love Ethan, you two are close, and because of this, you know exactly what he’s like. “Just carry me to bed and let’s sleep forever.”
You feel yourself being lifted and carried towards your shared bedroom, and when you slightly open your eyes you can see the blue neon glow surrounding your room, casting shadows on every object in its vicinity.
Grayson rests you on your side of the bed and tucks you in, jumping into the spot beside you and curling into your back. God, you love him. It’s only him that can make you feel like this. You wrap your fingers around his hand that is wrapped around your waist and squeeze.
“I love you.”
A delicate kiss on the back of your neck. “I love you, too.”
