Two sides of the same coin.

I had no idea of the extremity of what you went through nor did you for me. While I have saved your life before we got together, you have saved mine by existing and staying and loving me despite it all. I still go back and forth as to whether that has been your smartest decision or not. Because it has been years and we are still together, it leans more on the smartest side of the spectrum.

I don't know why the doubt comes in and seeps through every core of me. I don't want to have that. I don't want to have fear. I don't want to have the labels of "villain", "bastard", "monster", "Gozaburo incarnate". Not with you. Not with Mokuba. Even not with the Dweeb Patrol or the press or anyone. I'm fine with being called former champion. I'm fine with being president, chairman, ceo, creator.

yknow what they say about bravery, yeah? it's not the absence of fear, it's bein afraid and doin it anyway? that bastard made you afraid a yourself and what people think of you and you keep doin it anyway. braver than a lotta people i've met. you try an cut out that fear and you're gettin rid of the part that reminds you 'hey, this might be wrong'. that isn't healthy either. what's healthy is findin how to be happy with yourself first, then figurin out how to handle other people. pretty sure that's a lifelong commitment, not a one and done thing. everyone else is goin through the same flavor of mess, just handlin it differently

ain't up to me how they react. only thing you got control over is how you react to people. i decided it's not worth my time gettin into it with folks who're not goin to change their minds, even if i try my best, even if i try to be better. don't got the energy for that anymore. long as i'm happy wit myself i don't care what anyone else thinks

sure, you pissed me off, you pushed me around, you can be an arrogant prick if ya want to. but i figured out after a while you had a lot goin on and i wasn't helpin with any of that. last thing i want is to turn back into the kinda bully that makes life harder for everyone around me just 'cause i'm too wound up in my own shit to feel empathy

only reason we can stand bein in the same room these days is 'cause i started thinkin about what kinda hell it takes to make someone act like that. started thinkin about how much that hurts. started thinkin about the fact that makin that worse for someone is just me turnin into the man i hated most. made me realize life's too short to define someone by one thing they did wrong. made me realize that we all got shit goin on and i can't judge nobody for it

so, no. mighta been when i was younger, but i was an angry fucked up teen wit a dad who got drunk and took out his anger on him regularly. i had shit goin on too i wasn't tellin any of ya about. you know how that went.
