Great, now Leno is gonna learn that he can scream for attention as opposed to whining...wonder if his otter brain will be able to go all scientific method and figure out which noise will get him the best and most attention...

you all should watch videos on Joey the sea otter when he was a pup. because that is how i imagine leno whines. the rescuers are at least able to distinguish between if leno wants something or doesn’t like something lol

ive been watching and reading a lot of sea otter stuff so theyre just things i’ve screenshotted from videos or journals. google does have quite a bit of real photos too, i haven’t seen too much ai slop when you look up “sea otter pup”, probably because there is so much on sea otters. the last photo of the pup sleeping on a white towel with a toy is actually a sea otter named Luna. they really are just that cute and fluffy.

and i think leno finds a way out, he’ll have to. wildlife rescuers don’t keep the animals they rescue, at some point they will find an aquarium or something that will take them. and leno does not want that. he DOES have a family he has to get back to and are probably wondering where he is lol

he’s trying his best!! he could easily turn back into a human but the situation is….awkward. the researchers are expecting a cute baby pup, not a 21 year old. he doesn’t like awkward situations and he’s bad at communicating. luckily to communicate while being an otter he only has to whine and people will pretty much know what he needs lol. and he is learning valuable skills that he would have struggled with on his own. so remaining a useless sea otter pup it is! he’ll just have to deal with getting pampered i GUESS

Tom: You ate, you went to the bathroom, you have toys, and I'm holding you. What else could you possibly need?

they give him the name Boo because he whines so much lol. he drops his little pacifier, screams, and they say “oh boo hoo” and give it back. little Boo

what if tom and dylan recently suffered through a miscarriage so when sea otter pup leno shows up at their research facility/sanctuary they get very attached to taking care of him bc it’s almost like taking care of a newborn

sea otter pup leno gets “rescued” because he was out by himself. unfortunately he doesn’t have a mama otter like actual non-hybrid otters, and because he just gained his shifting abilities that means his animal starts off as a baby. so he was out floating by himself in a bay for a while to try and get used to his form and develop skills by himself. researchers were watching him for a long time to see if a mama was nearby, but when none came they decided to take him in.

it’s unfortunate but also leno is actually getting all he needs to help him develop his skills lol

he was just out there like this for hours because again, sea otter pups are very useless

he keeps dropping toys too. in his otter form he is still just a babe learning new skills and it’s frustrating that he can’t control his limbs like he wants to. every new hybrid, once they gain the ability to shift, has to go through the growing process of the animal they can shift into it, unfortunately it can’t just be the adult version right away. and while adult sea otters are very capable, pups are so useless and need help with everything. so leno is a little fussy with his toys when they drop and whines a lot, especially when he is trying to hold onto tom’s shirt but can’t because he still has to learn how to hold and let go of things 😭

Also consider: otter pup Leno who whines so much that Dylan ends up jokingly giving him a pacifier...joke's on Dylan when he realizes Leno whines even more without it...

they have to ween him off it :( but! leno does get a lot of toys he can hold. he loves holding things.

sea otter pup leno who is very capable as a human but is stuck being a baby otter because he got rescued by researchers and is now too afraid to turn back into a human because he’s under 24 hour care. and they are so nice to him, giving him cuddles and grooming his fur and helping him develop otter skills and also feeding him. he misses human food a lot though. but when he’s an otter his instincts and tastebuds are very different.

when he is especially whiny and tired the researchers call on dubie because they noticed that leno will fall asleep against his chest the quickest. leno can’t help it.

tom and dylan are paired together a lot to watch leno and leno sometimes feels like he’s their literal baby. it’s obvious to him that they’re together or in some kind of relationship because one day tom is swaddling leno and holding him and says outright to dylan “we should have a baby” and leno very much agrees. they are taking very good care of him, they SHOULD have a baby. but also he wants to be their only baby lol he wants all the attention

anyway sorry ive just been watching a lot of sea otter videos and i am so mesmerized by how useless otter pups are and think leno should be one.

leno thinks tom is cheating on dylan because he accidentally ran into him one night at a bar when he was out with friends and tom was alone and acting really weirded out seeing him and left pretty soon after leno said hello, and also he didn’t have his ring on. leno keeps that secret all the way until the season starts bc he just has to tell someone, and he goes to dubie first, and it becomes this big thing where even ovi gets involved

turns out. tom and dylan were trying out stranger roleplaying 🙃

dylan was meant to come into the bar but when tom saw leno he quickly texted him and called it off 😭

i don’t know anything about it. ive heard it happened and stuff but i didn’t look into it

it doesn’t happen often but dylan will sometimes get overstimulated at team dinners and house parties, so tom and him will take a little break and walk around the neighborhood for a bit, holding hands and bumping shoulders and talking in low voices. or sometimes they’re just in comfortable silence

tom who sets an alarm five minutes before he has to get up so he can cuddle with leno and dylan. leno never wakes up, just mumbles in his sleep as tom pulls him against his chest and props his chin on top of his head. dylan wakes up every time though and always scoots closer so tom and him can kiss for a bit. he’ll get up with tom and share coffee/breakfast with him until he has to leave, help him pack a few last minute things or pack his car. usually slow and bittersweet mornings when tom has to leave for a long road trip. finally before he leaves tom will go back and wake leno up and kiss him goodbye and let him know breakfast is downstairs for him and every time leno makes a 🥺 face
