Two of my favourite Nikolaj Ehlers goal celebrations. Not to memorialize the time he spent with our team, but to manifest more time together after this, or whatever.
Something something.. Al art or whatever.
Not to be a hater, but every time an illustrator butchers a drawing of a goalie on the cover of a hockey romance novel, an angel loses its wings
Indulged in some more pencil portraits on the train last weekend and unfortunately I am permanently afflicted with thinking Igor Shesterkin is a cutie.
I cannot imagine there's a huge audience for drawings of Haydn Fleury, but it's been a very long time since I did a graphite portrait and there was an excellent shot of him in an old episode of Runway.
Donation total 🎉🎉
Happy Monday everybody! We have our donation total and we're not going to be chill about it because we're too excited.
Through 60 auctions and 78 total donations, together we raised:
$3453.43
Which is $2000 more than your mods thought we'd raise at best!
This is an incredible achievement from all of us and we could not be more excited by all that we have accomplished so far this year.
Your mods are incredibly humbled by the way you all showed up not only for these organizations, but for each other. So many of you told us you were signing up scared but you did it anyway! Every single auction had at least one bid and almost all over them were over the starting bid amount! Every single auction had their winning bidder come through with a donation! Many of you donated more than your winning bid! We'll provide a numbers breakdown under the cut but your mods cannot say it enough: we're so proud of all of you! Thank you, thank you, thank you for joining us in our inaugural year!
Under the cut we have a numbers break down of each organization if you're curious how much money went where. Some organizations received more than others, but know that for all of these organizations, $20 can be the difference between keeping the lights on versus being able offer more services.
A beginner’s guide to goalie equipment
//
I’m taking a class dedicated to zine making and self-publishing this semester - and I made this for my first assignment. It’s twenty eight pages, printed on cream coloured paper, and saddlestitch bound with blue linen thread.
You guys seem to love goalies so I thought you might like this. I also love goalies, but in a sort of narcissistic way.

Bidding for @teamliftfest opened yesterday and closes Saturday night!!
I’m offering an illustration (either digital or scanned pencil/ink/watercolour) for hockey, baseball, cycling or women’s basketball! You can find my page here. And you can look at all the other incredible fanworks being offered here.
Here are some of my past sports drawings:
A little over an hour until bidding closes!
Before bidding opened I was a little scared nobody would be interested at all and the response has genuinely blown me away. I’m so excited to make something for you and to support an awesome sports charity org!!
Donation questions
Happy Friday everyone 🎉 As we near the end of bidding tomorrow night, your mods are starting to get more questions about donations as people start thinking about what they want to bid on. We're starting an FAQ post here.
Many of these questions will have further instructions in an email you will receive if you win an auction, but we'll try to answer them as thoroughly as we can here too.
Keep those questions coming - we'd rather spend 15 minutes updating this post than have you be confused for the next day and a half!
Donation FAQ:
Can I split my donation between multiple charities?
Absolutely! When you submit your proof of donation (usually in the form of a screenshot of your donation receipt), we will ask you to submit individual proof from each charity you donate to so that we know that you did donate the total amount of your winning bid.
Do you accept employer matching for donations?
Yes!! We love employer matching. When you receive an email notifying you that you've won an auction, we'll include further information about reporting the match amount - we include it in our final totals. We do not ask for proof from you or your employer.
Can I include donations as charitable donations on my taxes (in the USA)?
HUGE CAVEAT THAT WE ARE NOT FINANCIAL CONSULTANTS, THIS IS NOT TAX ADVICE: you are donating directly to the charity with no intermediary involved. The auction you win is a nonbinding agreement between you and creator, because though we strongly encourage completion, we cannot guarantee it. Neither the fest mods nor the creator receives any money from you or the charities in this process.
We hope that helps clarify it a little bit. If nothing else, we're assuming none of you are reporting to a Fortune 500 company their matching donation is also getting you a 20k omegaverse fanfic (as an example). Do with that information what you will 🕴️

Bidding has started 🧨
Bidding runs from today, 10/15 at 8am (UTC-8) to Saturday, 10/19 at 9pm UTC-8
[Global timezone converter for bidding close: what time is that for me?]
Because our process is not automated, individual bidding forms became available a little before 8am. Note that any bids received before 8am will not be counted. Similarly, because we have to close all the bidding forms individually, some forms may remain open a little after 9pm PT. Bids received after 9pm on 10/19 will not be counted either.
We have 60(!!!!) incredible offerings by 48 amazing creators in different 10 Sports RPF fandoms. These offerings range from fic to fan art to primers to translation and so much more!
All auction pages can be found here. Auction pages can be navigated by tags. Each offering page has the spreadsheet of bids and the form for bidding.
Our bidding policy can be found here.
Supported charities can be found here. Some contributors have listed a charity they are passionate about that is local to their area or country - check offering pages for links and information about those charities!
Have fun and good luck everyone 🏅
Bidding opens: tomorrow!
Happy Monday everyone! Your mods have a couple of quick programming notes ahead of auctions opening tomorrow.
Bidding starts tomorrow, 10/15 at 8am PT (UTC-8). The bidding period is five days. Bidding closes on Saturday. 10/19 at 9am PT.
Because our process is not automated, individual bidding forms may become available a little before 8am. Note that any bids received before 8am will not be counted. Similarly, because we have to close all the bidding forms individually, some forms may remain open a little after 9pm PT. Bids received after 9pm on 10/19 will not be counted either. Please try to be conscious of your timing when bidding, particularly towards the end. The bidding spreadsheet for each auction has a timestamp for every bid, so check it carefully heading into the final minutes of the auction.
All auction pages can be found here. Auction pages can also be navigated by tags. Each offering page has both the spreadsheet of bids and the form for bidding.
Our bidding policy can be found here.
Supported charities can be found here. Additionally, some contributors have listed a charity they are passionate about - check their offering pages for links and information about those charities!
Thanks all!! Your mods are super excited to head into the bidding period. We can't wait to see what we're going to accomplish together in our inaugural year - it's going to be good one.
Hey! First of all, your style is incredible and I'm just sitting over here chin-handsing at your stuff. It's so good! Second of all, would you be open to doing an illustration of an NCAA hockey player for the team lift fest? Or someone in the KHL - not a bad dude, I swear! He plays for Red Star because he's not good enough for the NHL and he's Chinese, not because he raped anyone Thaaaanks, I'm planning on bidding on your work regardless! but my favorite boys are never gonna make the show and I'd love art of them anyway.
Wooow thank you so much!!
I’m not comfortable drawing NCAA players, but I would be happy to draw a player from a different league. I felt a little awkward about offering to draw players from leagues I don’t follow in any capacity, but if you can give me a background on them and reference images, then I would be happy to draw someone from any league.
Thank you for this ask, it was really sweet!!
Browsing has started 🧨
We have 60(!!!!) incredible offerings by 48 creators in different 10 Sports RPF fandoms. These offerings range from fic to fan art to primers to translation and so, so much more!
Browsing runs from 10/9-10/13. This period is designed to let you look through offerings before bidding starts, reach out to creators you might have questions for, and strategize before bidding starts on 10/15!
Check out offering pages here on Dreamwidth. Offerings can be navigated by tags.
Acquaint yourself with the bidding policy here.
If you have questions about your offerings page or the fest in general, contact the fest email. If you as a potential bidder have questions about a specific offering, contact the creator directly -- they all have contact info on their pages.
Thank you to all our amazing contributors for being so enthusiastic and brave and thank you to all our potential bidders for the excitement we've been seeing! We're so incredibly excited to get started in this next phase and we can't wait to see what the next three weeks bring.
Normally I try not to sports rpf post on this blog, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make art for a good cause!
I’ll post something more informative soon, but I’m offering an illustration of your choice about hockey, baseball, cycling or women’s basketball!! Bidding starts at $15, check out my page here.
A helle painting I made all the way back in April, I’m pretty sure. I’ve wanted to use a paper plane motif for the jets for a while.
If you recognize this particular angle from my other helle piece, that’s because I actually drew over the sketch from this painting for that drawing.
I was gonna caption this with something about how Sean Monahan has never let me down except for when he missed a wide open net during Connor Hellebuyck’s 500th game, but we’re actually so back - so Sean Monahan has never let me down
