Not many people know about George Grennough's windsurfing achievements. We are going to talk about it in our next magazine issue. This rig is all self-built, tweaked and DIFFERENT to anything you have seen before. None of it was 'off the shelf', all 100% custom built. It was FAST! He went through half a dozen rigs and board designs until he had to quit, because his knee gave up. The camera was mounted himself and a remote shutter release cable on the boom, with a fisheye lens...Film, circa 1980s -when the surf just got too crowded. He shot a bunch of photos with the camera mounted on top of the mast too, it’s a really interesting perspective. #originalgopro #georgegreenough #fisheyelens #windsurfinginnovations #innovator #inventor #bestselfieever (check our new website http://hodaddy.com.au)
"What the corporates have done is turn surfing from something
that was fun and you did with your friends…
it was a little bit like building go-carts in your backyard,
and now suddenly it has become a huge business.”
—George Greenough
may as well reblog something we originally published!

The Peugeot motor-boat car was an advertisement object for Peugoet Nautic. The front end was a cut open boat hull on a Peugeot car chassis. It had a propeller but no drive shaft, and it wasn’t actually amphibious, unfortunately. October 1926. (via Carstyling)
