The fact that Yoshida is still going on about normal life and being like other highschooler shows that his whole time with Denji was about himself.

He didn't want Denji to transform because he wanted to continue being a high schooler. He wasn't obsessed with Denji he just didn't want the life he had to end.

The whole of part two was him talking about highschoolers these days and being normal.

He got sad when he got replaced because it's basically go back to work fun is over.

He used his bodyguard job as an excuse to be a highschooler and chill.
