              The woven fabric covers the entirety of his arms, winding from the tips of his fingers all the way up to the middle of his torso. Shino finds himself burying his wrapped hands – the only way Lee could have spotted the bandages – within the depths of his coat pockets, hiding them from view. It’s only after the subconscious act that the Aburame heir berates himself for the lapse in his confidence. There’s nothing shameful about wounds and injuries; they are shinobi, after all. Their lives are written in the scars they receive. 

               But this particular injury is not quite like most he’s endured; a severe burn has rendered his arms useless for combat -- at least momentarily. The heat had warped his skin and shut off any possible exit points along his arms for his bugs, and the healing process did not allow him to force open new exits lest it disrupts his recovery. While the main outlets beneath his shoulder blades are still perfectly functional, Shino cannot help but feel the traitorous edge of vulnerability, and Lee’s wide-eyed scrutiny only makes him especially aware of his current handicap. 

              “... Yes, but it is of no concern. I am still able to spar with you.”
