@ president’s bbq - ring toss

Whose bright idea was it to leave Lola in charge of the ring toss booth again? Alpha Kappa Psi, CFU’s business honour society, was running one of the carnival game booths and of course, Lola had volunteered to help out for a few hours. She was tasked with collecting money from people because she was good with money, as Delta’s treasurer, and it was simple enough not to screw up. Everything was going fine until James, the one who was in charge of the booth, left for a bathroom break. “I’ll be right back. Lola, you’re in charge while I’m gone,” he had told her. Big. Mistake.

“Aww Hannah, sweetie, don’t cry! Here, have another go at it. Or ten! On the house!” Lola bent down to the little girl’s level, wiping the tears from her face, then handed her ten more rings. “Oh my gosh, Professor Rossum, that was so close! Here, have a few more. I’m sure you’ll get it on your next try,” the redhead encouraged the economics professor, as she handed the woman a handful of rings. Okay, so, Lola might have given away a few freebie games and prizes to a few people. Only like, twelve. What? She felt bad for them! Everyone was getting so disappointed about not winning any prizes, so she thought that maybe a few free rings would cheer them up.

“Hannah, you know what? I think you deserve the unicorn plushie for not giving up,” Lola smiled as she handed the little girl the prize. She watched as Hannah skipped away happily with her unicorn and mom in tow. James would understand. A little girl’s happiness was at stake, after all. “Okie dokie, who’s next?"

please don’t encourage lola to do so. if anyone is to blame for santa’s calculations it is my parents.  they were the type to believe gifts should be earned instead of just given.  and so, i had to prove to excel in school and other things to even get a present under the tree from them.

Do you ever worry that being in a relationship in college will cause you to miss out on important experiences?

Not really. Lola’s my favorite person in the whole world and definitely one of the reasons I keep doing my best. I think she’s one of the most important experiences I’m ever going to have, so why would I want to miss out on her and worry about the other dumb stuff?
