Buried in her blankets, Aurora yawned and squirmed around, stretching, trying to force herself to get out of bed. She had taken two naps today, not to mention she had slept for twelve hours the previous night. She had no energy anymore, as opposed to before, when the voices and anxiety kept her up for hours on end. Ever since Holden began feeding off her on a regular basis, she hadn’t felt anything but tired, and hadn’t spoken to a single spirit. She could hear them faintly, but she could not see them, and she could not talk back. He was making her weak, but it wouldn’t last long. They just had to take a break, then her power and energy would come back for sure.
But how was she supposed to propose that?
When her door creaked open, she was suddenly full of adrenaline and she popped up, expecting to see Logan and preparing herself to lie about how no, she wasn’t sleeping again, but was pleasantly surprised to see it was Holden. Her lips instinctively pulled back into a smile, her cheeks sore, and she ran a hand through her hair.
She forgot he was coming over.
"Hi," she breathed, pushing the blankets down, only covering her lower half. She never slept in pajama pants, just big tee-shirts and boyshorts, and she hadn’t gotten to get dressed before Holden came! How embarrassing; now she wasn’t going to be able to remove the blanket. Her cheeks flushed at this realization.
Holden grinned when Aurora said high to him, and he ran to her like light. He was across the room, next to her in half a second, and he titled his head, "How are you, my dear?" He knew she was probably feeling super bad, from all the blood loss, but that was for the best, it really was. Holden was gaining so much power, and it was all because of the blood bag right in front of him; he loved it.
He bent down to press his lips softly against hers, and he grinned into the kiss, his head swimming- he was thirsty, but he'd give a little time to just relax, and he'd feed later. He will feed later.
"I've missed you," he whispered so quietly, as he bent his head down to brush his lips against her neck; was he saying that to her, or to her beautiful jugular vein, the world may never know. He pressed soft kisses to her flesh, and then went back to her pale lips.
"You look-" like death, "Beautiful."

Holden grinned as he walked slowly towards Auroras house. She had Invited him over for the night, and Holden was in no position to say no. He loved it when he was over at auroras’, she let him feed on her to “strengthen their connection”. It was cute, to see how wrapped up she was in this sick little fantasy. He couldn’t deny that there were only two reasons he was with her.
One, he loved her, but two, he wanted her power. Holden had noticed over the course of him feeding from her that she’d been getting pretty weak, while the total opposite was happening to Holden. He’d been getting stronger, quicker- powerful, and it was all because of Aurora.
So when he got to her house, he slipped right inside without drawing any attention from anything. Then just as sneaky, he went to her room and opened the door, slipping inside to see the blonde girl.
"Surprise, my darling," Holden’s smile gleamed in the soft bedroom lighting. Oh, was he hungry.
aURORA I YRUSTED YOU TOU FAILED ME GOMNA KILL YOU Jk I love you bby give me more blood
Is the negative impact your feeding has on Aurora worth it?
"In all honesty, no." Yes.
How does Aurora's blood benefit you?
"It creates an unbreakable connection in between us."
"It makes me stronger, able to gain more power."
"I would like that a lot."
"I’d even like your… first suggestion…"
"I would, too."
"Oh, really? Well- we're gonna take it slow, alright?"
"O-Oh! Holden, you’re so risque…”
"What I meant was, you and me can hang out all summer, if you'd like?"
"Well, now that school is over, there’s not much to do…"
"You can do me all summer"
"Oh my, that did not come out the way I wanted it to be."

The excitement in his voice made Aurora want to jump for joy, but could hardly even bring herself to flash a toothy smile. She was so tired. She felt like she could sleep for years. It was almost as if Logan had used his powers on her, but there was no way.
Maybe it was the blood loss. Her head did feel swollen, and a bit numb. Oh well. It clearly hadn’t been enough to kill her, because she was still breathing and fully aware of her surroundings.
The color should have returned to her face at his spell comment, but it didn’t. She still felt flustered, though, and whispered back, “Oh, no, I’m actually a very good wit ”
She was cut off by the kiss, but didn’t mind. It was a pleasant way to be interrupted.
He pulled her onto his lap, and once again, her heart raced, only this time, it was much more strained. Sinking into him, she held his face in her hands, deepening the embrace. Much like before, she felt a million experiences in one, and as he eased her down onto her back, her mind ran wild.
The kiss, like always, was too good to be true. Holden couldn't have been any happier! There were no secrets between them! You're a killer. Aurora loved him! You'll kill her. He loved Aurora! You'll drain her dry in no time. They were finally together in harmony.
The kiss deepened between them, and Holden held her close against his body, and then he pressed a kiss on her jaw, and went lower, to her neck- but he just pressed a soft kiss where he left his mark, and he felt his body slightly shake. Although, he controlled himself, and he pressed a kiss to her collar bone-
Then he heard footsteps dangerously close to her bedroom door.
"Logan," he whispered, and then pulled back in just the right amount of time for Logan to open her door and look at the both of them. Aurora gracefully turned her head away from Logan, hiding the bite mark, and Holden gave a polite smile to the gentleman.
"Holden, I think its time you leave," Logan informed the two, and Holden looked at Aurora and snickered, then he looked at Logan and nodded his head, moving off of the bed to stand up.
"Thank you both, for having me over and welcoming me to your home," Holden spoke mostly to Aurora, but he felt the need to talk to Logan too. "Aurora, I can tell you're tired, so I can walk myself out," he spoke directly to her, "get some sleep, love."
Holden smiled at Aurora, sharing a private secret between them that Logan was oblivious to. Holden waved at her goodbye, and then left her room, passing Logan at the door.
"Goodnight, Logan," his voice was proper as he told him goodbye, and then he walked to the front door, opened it, and escaped into the night,

Her boyfriend was a vampire. While the witch side of Aurora wanted to be afraid, be cautious, the typical teenage girl in her felt like Bella Swan. Besides, if he had been able to stop himself mid-feed, she knew she had nothing to fear. She was just providing him with the nourishment he needed, like a good girlfriend would.
She loved him. She had to do this for him.
When he started to explain exactly what she was thinking, she didn’t feel any different, aside from a slight headache. She had control of her body, and was able to smile and nod and scoot closer to him, giving him a soft peck on the cheek.
"Of course I’m not scared," she said with weak glee, feeling more and more comfortable with him than ever before, but also on the verge of fainting. "I love you, too."
Now that her blood was in him, she felt more attached, more relaxed, like they were one. She had nothing to fear now; she was a part of him, and him her, and it all added up to prove that they were meant to be.
"Well, you shared a secret with me, so I’ll share one with you."
Looking over her shoulder, Aurora leaned closer, peering deep into him and whispering, “I’m a witch.”
Aurora wasn't phased at all by his undead personality. She giggled and scooted closer to him, and Holden smiled back at her. It felt like a giant weight had been lifted from his shoulders, and he could be open with her now. She knew he was a vampire, and she was fine with him feeding on her; or at least he was sure of that, she didn't freak out when he sunk his teeth in her neck- well, he may have helped with that.
Then she kissed his cheek, and Holden pulled her into a quick hug. He loved her so much, and he knew they would be together for a long time. He wouldn't let her go, he couldn't.
And then she said she had a secret too, and Holden raised his eyebrows at her, scooted closer to her, and then she whispered to him three words that made Holden giddy with joy.
I'm a witch.
Of course he already knew that, but he acted like he didn't and he looked at her with a smile and lowered eyebrows. "Really?" And then, he leaned forward, their lips barely touching as he whispered, "A wicked witch? Oh, you've put a spell on me."
He pressed his lips against hers.

The way his sentences flowed into one another with such dark mystery made Aurora’s chest convulse. She felt her voice get caught in her throat, her heart thudding in her chest, so quickly it made her feel ill. Her nerves were going to be the death of her.
"I trust you too, Holden, and I do love you," she whispered, half-smiling, half-trembling. She wasn’t so sure she was being honest, with him or herself.
I have to do this.
Do what? What was so serious, so important, that he had to lower his voice and narrow his eyes, ensuring he had her full attention?
Before she had a chance to ask, she lost control of her own thoughts. All her muscles grew limp, and her head was hollow. She felt dizzy. She felt sleepy, like she was being hypnotized. It was all too familiar.
Mouthing the words he spoke after he spoke them, Aurora felt nothing. She couldn’t feel. It was like she had forgotten how. But once a sharp pain pinched her neck, she was snapped back into reality.
Aurora felt suddenly suffocated and gasped for air, tears spilling down her cheeks. She had no idea what was going on. She couldn’t hear. She couldn’t see. All her senses were cut off, except for two small spots on her neck, where she felt everything at once. Her energy was draining, and she could sense all the color draining from her body.
And then, she figured out what was happening.
Holden was drinking her blood. Holden was a vampire.
Holden knew how fast he could drain someone, but he didn't want to drain Aurora- he needed her alive for the next time. He heard the girl gasp past the heartbeats, but that was it. She was told not to be scared, and she wasn't going to be- he made her.
Her blood was warm, and far more delectable than any other blood he has ever had. The wait for it had been much needed, and he kept drinking slowly, holding her against him as he drank and drank. His muscles relaxed, and the fog in his head cleared up, and he felt power swim into his body- Auroras power.
In a couple seconds, if Holden didn't stop drinking, he knew Aurora would be left for dead, but he didn't know if he could stop. She was just so delicious- but then he felt a pang in his heart that made him pull back, teeth ripping out of her skin.
He loved her. He couldn't kill her.
Holden scooted back, away from the girl, as he watched slow, very slow, trickles of blood flow down her neck, and then he met her eyes- dazed and persuaded.
Holden wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, and he let out a breath. His body raged with power, and he looked at her, and then grabbed her by the shoulders, making her look at him.
"So now you know, I'm a vampire." no regret filled his voice, but he forced power into it, he needed to make this work, "You're not scared of me, you'll go on thinking this is a normal thing, and over time this will wear off, but you'll still feel safe around me, because you are safe."
"You're safe with me Aurora, I promise, I love you."
{the lion and the lamb} aulden feat. logan
A-Aurora?
The witch tilted her head up, getting a full view of Holden, and raised her eyebrow. He had a pained expression, almost like he was stifling something, and this made her nerves run. His tone of voice only added to this concern. The aura around him shifted.
A tension in the air left as soon as it came when he smiled and continued speaking.
"It was neither," she beamed, brushing a stray lock of hair out of her face as she sat up, looking down at him. "You said you wanted to share something with me.”
She felt a bit silly correcting him on such an irrelevant detail, but the more troubling part was the fact that she practically just used her powers on him. A normal human would have never remembered the exact wording of a casual conversation that happened hours ago.
"But, regardless," she cleared her throat nervously. "Yes, I remember."
Of course she did. She didn’t really have a choice.
"What was it?"
She didn’t like surprises.
Share something with her.
Holden chuckled at himself, at his choice of words, but he stopped once the pain in his gums became unbearable. He looked at her as she sat up, and then he smiled at her. She remembered, and he knew she would, he could rely on her for things like this. Then she asked him what it was, and Holden felt his facial muscles twitch, and he scooted closer to her, trying to collect himself.
He pulled her closer to him softly, and brought his mouth near her ear. "I trust you, Aurora, that you'd do anything I say and you'll love me like I love you, unconditionally," he whispered softly, "But I have to do this, to make sure nothing bad comes your way, its for the best, I promise."
Then he pulled back, until they were looking straight at each other, and he looked deep into her eyes, as she did the same to him.
"You're not going to scream," he prompted slowly, pouring power into his words, "You're not going to be scared, You are to simply enjoy it and relax. It will be over as soon as you know it."
He didn't give her enough time to repeat what he had just said to her, as he locked his eyes onto her neck, and the only thing he could hear was her heartbeat. The thudding swarmed his ears, and he felt his face hardened, his fangs bursting from his gums.
Then, a second later, Holden quickly tossed her golden hair to the side, away from her neck, and he sunk his aching teeth into her warm flesh.
{the lion and the lamb} aulden feat. logan
Something seemed a bit off about Holden, like he was nervous, too. He had no reason to be. While she was reaching for him, he was settling for her, and that was both exciting and frightening. He could have anyone. He was so charming, so suave, and she was just… she was just Aurora, no matter how he chose to sugarcoat it.
But she wouldn’t question the way their paths crossed. It all was happening for a reason.
He lay back further on her bed, chiseled back resting against the headboard, and opened his arms. Once again, her cheeks flushed petal-pink as she crawled closer to him, laying her head on his chest. She brought her other arm up around to is shoulder, clinging onto it. Closing her eyes, she look in a slow breath, nuzzling closer to him.
She loved cuddling, and she didn’t even know it until now. She hadn’t done it before, at least not since she was a toddler and her dad was still around.
Something about the way everything fell silent was eerie. She wasn’t sure what, but there were a few sounds missing from the atmosphere. Though she couldn’t place a finger on it, she just had a feeling. All she could hear was her own heartbeat, which made her ears burn and insides churn.
She had a sudden urge to kiss Holden again, but she didn’t.
Auroras body pressed up against his, as he wrapped his arms around the girl and held her close. Silence fell over them, like a blanket, and Auroras warmth burned against his skin, but it was too good of a feeling to stop.
Holden let out a soft breath, looking down at the girl whose head was pressed up against his chest. He smiled softly, and stared at how her hair fell down in rivers of gold, just enough to leave a patch of warm skin on her neck-
Holden's breath hitched, and he wanted to curse at himself. He shut his eyes, and he could hear Auroras heart beat again, but her breath added to the sound. Holden knew then, that if he didn't feed right now, when he did he'd kill her.
"A-Aurora," he choked out, but a smile played at his lips, 'Remember that thing I was going to show you? Or was it tell you?" He looked down at her in confusion, trying to push back on the force of his gums.
{the lion and the lamb} aulden feat. logan
When Holden began to speak, Aurora’s doe-eyes widened, and she blinked rapidly, pert lips parted with surprise. His hands felt strong and cold, freezing, against her cheeks, and she took in a small breath, watching his eyes dilate as he rambled.
Extraordinary? Phenomenal? Oh, big words had never sounded so sweet! Actually, they had, but that wasn’t the point. The point was that those words had never been used to describe her. She had never seen herself as anything but Aurora, but Holden made her understand why she had the same name as the Northern Lights.
She tried to think of something to say, but could let out nothing but a little squeak before their lips collided. Her heart was like an animal, slamming against the cage that was her ribs. They had kissed three times before, but it had never been anything more that a two-second peck. But, as she counted along the moments in her head, time was passing. Three, four, five, six… Aurora leaned in deeper, placing her fragile hands on his chest. Seven, eight, she could taste every part of him, every experience, all the foods he’d eaten and the drinks he’d tasted. It was a menagerie of cultures, and had an ancient twist to it.
She could feel him, in every single part.
Pulling back, she let out a sharp breath, gaze fluttering down to their laps. She grinned a breathy grin, gazing up at him through her lashes with her virgin blue eyes.
And then, she giggled. She didn’t know what else to do. He seemed to be the leader, and she was simply following him.
Time disappeared as they kissed. Holden moved his lips slowly against Auroras, and he felt like they were the only ones in this lonely and unfair universe. But, as they kissed more, Holden knew he couldn't contain the beast within. The noise around him drowned out and was replaced with a beating heart, that was alive in front of him, within his grasp. Time came rushing back to him, and he counted every second that that blood filled life force pumped spirit into Aurora.
It was beating too fast, thud-thud-thud, and with every beat Holden could feel himself unravel, unmaking himself before her- but just as he felt his fangs burst from their cages, and his face harden in horror, Aurora pulled away and giggled, looking down at their laps.
Holden knew he only had seconds to contain himself, and mask the monster within, before she would look at him and discover his blood red eyes, surrounded by dark veins underneath his pale skin, mouth hitched open just enough to see his fangs.
Holden turned his head away, trying to find something else to look at. Then his gaze found a picture of her and Logan on her wall, and he felt his face relax, and his fangs retract back into his gums.
Oh god, what was she doing to him?
He looked back at her, and he knew he looked just as the guy that she invited into her home. Aurora looked up at him too, and Holden smiled at her softly. He scooted up farther onto the bed, and then nodded at her. "Come here," he spoke in a small voice, hoping that maybe holding her wouldn't have such a big effect on him.
