Since we’re having Hi-Fi Rush OC/Self-insert discussions in the tag, I’m thinking about character music (or specifically one from playlists). I usually try to make a distinction between what songs a character would listen to and what songs describe the character’s personality/story.

With that in mind, I’m thinking about how others could perhaps share the songs they use for their HFR OCs/Self-inserts (if they want, of course). Even one tune would suffice, in my opinion.

To not make the post too big, I’ve decided to leave songs from Roulette playlists under the cut. These ones are used both for character’s personal playlist and to describe their personality or story. Listed in no particular order are:

So uhhhhh very few pages of the Hi-Fi Rush artbook have been revealed (a couple of people have either flicked through the book or showed a page or two) and that includes Kale's page.

I thought drawing him wearing one of those concept fits (or at least how I interpreted it) would be neat ^^

Adopted this stray tabby with wonky front leg recently and now he’s wreaking havoc at home. He seems to like scarfs and chai lattes, along with annoying my other kitty.

Not me just deciding to draw Chai as an orange tabby cuz I can’t see him as any other cat. When it comes to other characters though, Macaron is a British Shorthair, Korsica could be a Bengal or Abyssinian, CNMN seems like a sphynx (especially if one is to make him visually stand out from the rest in terms of looks), and Peppermint I’m not really sure on. Either Thai or Tonkinese and with that - Kale could be a Siamese.

Posting some concepts of concepts for the future concept sheet for Roulette along with some design thoughts. The Ru and 808 sketch is just a cool-down after everything.

The idea behind Roulette as a character is that she is supposed to be like those hardworking and overly stressed salarymen/office ladies in their 20s. Maybe they have dreams, or maybe have had them once. Instead of pursuing those dreams though they’ve decided to trade them for a stable income and somewhat stable future. Dreams are called dreams for a reason - not everyone can bring food to the table through them.

Roulette is a bit of a nutcase so the prolonged stress along with a certain event would potentially bring her to the state she is depicted in the second and third sketches.

I really like contrast in characters. The difference between how they look and act, what they show outside and what they truly feel inside. Roulette is basically my fave because of that, but I’m not gonna get into every detail of her potential final design.

What I’ve had in mind for Roulette is that her base form would be just office-y - simple but perhaps dull. The glasses and especially her hair kind of play into a prim and proper look, while cardigans and shawls in my mind make her design a bit more cozy (and also grandma-like). The ID badge is modelled after Chai’s Armstrong pass (which is never used in the game I think so I thought what better way to use other than make an outfit more office-y).

The moment those design elements are shed you get the rough and tough look - long disheveled hair, arms open and ready for action, that cold yet ferocious glint in her eyes. Aaaaaaand along with Roulette you get a big and cool mecha axe cuz what else can make the look more metal and brutal? I love when a beautiful lady can actually kill (me).

And I did have ideas for a what-if photo mode Roulette and what some of her poses could be like. She’s not always strict and professional, but she is very slay (and silly), so some of her poses would play into that. I would def use (and have used) photos from fashion magazines when sketching her, so Ru would be that gal to lock in when you tell her to “Strike a Pose”.

managed to mod Rhys into Hi-Fi Rush as a playable character and the way the animations break his model is the funniest thing

I need to fix his stun baton but I'll try to upload this onto Nexus for y'all to download soon-ish :3
