Hey? Hey Taz fandom? Where's my fucking fanart of Minerva giving Leo Tarkesian a piggyback ride and then sprinting off into the wilderness because uhhhh that's some good shit
the abruptness with which griffin described minerva giving leo a piggyback ride through the woods had me picturing this grizzled scrap of a man hopping on this buff alien woman’s back like yoda on luke skywalker in esb and her boring him through the trees and undergrowth with the speed and force of the moving rock from the krusty krab pizza episode of spongebob
“we’re not antagonists in a disney channel original movie” has to be one of my favorite hollis lines bc it confirms they are a disney channel kid, Just Like Us, and were probably into high school musical and/or camp rock at some point
I must be an absolute fool but I never realised until now that the Stolen Century is the 7th arc of the Balance campaign, complementing the Seven Birds
Here There Be Gerblins - Lup, lost and found. The Phoenix Fire Gauntlet. Not knowing yourself well enough to mourn the destruction of a town or the loss of your sister. Just damage. A certain blue jeaned man. Coming home to your family again after all this time. Familiar but not too familiar
Murder on the Rockport Limited - Davenport. The Occulus Lens. Thinking a problem through, asking questions, playing tricks, creating doors out of nothing. Stepping up to responsibility and driving this goddamn train because there’s no one else! Relying on strangers who will eventually become your family.
Petals To The Metal - Merle Highchurch. The Gaia Sash. Antics. Hanging off an elevator platform with your entire ass hanging out. Knowing who you are. An abundance of alarming plants. A deep-running undercurrent of love and joy, invisible initially, pulling the whole story inexorably towards a happy ending. Starting to see the depth and wonder in something silly and irreverant
The Crystal Kingdom - Taako. The Philosopher’s Stone. Being clever. Picking red. Knowing things and not remembering why. Understanding the world. Not getting into suspicious elevators. Trapping handsome men in tentacles. Being selfish and selfless for the people you love.
The Eleventh Hour - Magnus Burnsides. The Temporal Chalice. Rustic hospitality. Asking a community for help and having help given freely. A constant underlying threat of harm to the people you love. Regret that cuts to the bone. A past that seems very present. Being kind to animals, no matter how dangerous
The Suffering Game - Barry Bluejeans. The Animus Bell. Being pushed to your very limit. Terror at losing the people you love. Resilience in the face of cyclical dread. Blind faith. Not pressing forsake. Looking for information, for your family, for the bell, for the woman you love. The promise of answers after far too long.
The Stolen Century - Lucretia. The Bulwark Staff. A family in a hundred years, a million little moments. Growing as a person, warping under pressure. Writing it all down. Having more skills and knowledge than most people earn in a lifetime. Dividing something that’s meant to be whole. A desire to protect, twisted into an instinct towards insulation. Writing stories into existence, and setting people along them. Mistakes and love in equal measure.
Story and Song - The Seven Birds. The Light of Creation, made whole. One family, reunited. The love that ties them all together, the love that flies a spaceship through the multiverse. Fighting back against loss and hopelessness. Forgiveness. New friends and family flooding home to help. Bonds tying you to the ground beneath your feet, to the arms that held your wife, to the world’s greatest detective, to a fish, to a goddamn taco. Not going anywhere. The happy ending you earned.
“Character you thought was dead forever but surprisingly comes back right before the end of the episode reveal”:

Earth Scientist!
I need to borrow your,
Corporeal Hands
for a minute
I wanna play a game of, “Is that tumblr Griffin McElroy?” In which I search through inconclusive evidence to determine which one of the blogs on this hellsite is Griffin’s secret personal blog that he uses to spy on all the taz/mbmam/etc. things going on in the fandom. I know you’re out there Griffin, you cannot hide forever.
Me: I’m trying to snuff out Griffin McElroy
Ya’ll: Sounds like something Griffin McElroy would say
What if this Abomination just... isn’t defeated and becomes a reoccurring villain? Like, they end up beating a version of it but it still comes back and they have No Clue because shapeshifterrrrr???
How much could it being Boyd again mess with Ned??? So much potentiallllll!!!!
“A Lesson in Elvish” inspired by @marywhal‘s TAZ Fic Bury the Lead.
Apologies if the resolution is poor, I tried as best I could. I read this part in chapter eight and it really, really sat with me. The scene itself is straightforward, but they conjured very lovely images in my head that I wanted to illustrate. :>
[id: a long comic featuring taako and angus from taz: balance. taako is a tan elf with long blond hair pulled into a slightly messy braid. he wears a white shirt and a large green scarf. angus is a young boy with dark brown skin and short afro-textured hair. he wears a blue outfit and matching cap.
the comic is titled “A Lesson in Elvish.” it begins in tidy panels with dusky pink backgrounds. taako and angus sit across from each other at a table, with books and cups of coffee between them. taako says, “Ango, colors are verbs.” angus looks slightly confused, then replies, “That doesn’t make sense. How do you describe things?” taako holds up his braid and says, “Right now my hair is blond, agreed?” angus nods in agreement.
the panels begin to break from their rigid structure, with their borders at irregular angles. taako carefully taps his hair with the tip of his wand, saying “And now?” angus tilts his head to one side, saying “It’s… pink. I don’t understand.” taako replies, “Colors are verbs—”
the comic bursts from the panels entirely. the table, chairs, items, and people appear to be suddenly in free-fall as large loopy text reads, “—because things change.”
taako and angus fall through a long gradient of colors, from blue, to gray with raindrops, to a red-pink color, to a deep purple with golden firework-like bursts, and finally to black with blue stars. as they fall through this gradient, text around them reads, “The sky is blue when it’s sunny / But gray when it’s raining / At sunset or sunrise it might be red or pink or purple / When it’s night, it’s black. Colors are verbs.”
angus and taako are reaching towards each other amidst a black sky with blue stars, a large green and blue planet visible below them as if seen from outer space. the text reads, “They’re like— a microcosm for the world. The world is a verb, Ango.”
there is a long segment with text only that reads “Color changes. So do people, things, circumstances… Nothing is permanent.” as the text is displayed, the background slowly fades from black into white into a soft yellow - at the bottom of the image, the table, furniture, items, etc are all as they were at the beginning of the comic. taako is smiling across the table at angus, saying, “Elvish makes real fucking sure you get that.” end id.]
