He didn’t even know that he was holding in his breath as he waited for her answer until she finally sat on his lap, letting him know that, for once, she wasn’t running away. She wasn’t scared for once. And that was the thing about them, Emir and Holly worked perfectly together. They worked so well together that the idea of something ever being so good and so real at the same time was too out there for souls like theirs. Souls and hearts that refused to give in to anything more than pleasure or what money and connections could give them. Unfortunately for Emir though, he not only wanted that, he always wanted to feel, feel, feel and Holly made him feel more than he’d ever felt for anyone before.
“I can think of a handful of ways to have a good time. Most of them include you and me and this bed, or hotel room.” He shivered as she touched his neck and then his chest and suddenly he remembered that he didn’t know how to react to something as small as her skin on his, or when her eyes locked on his, that mischievous and daring glint on hers was able to make him do just about anything that she asked him to do. Emir sent a lopsided grin and leaned in to press his lips to her jawline, in part to hide the effect that she had on him from her and partly because he wanted her as close as he possibly could. This only happened behind closed doors and even with her on his lap, sometimes he still had a hard time wrapping his mind around it.
His hands rested on her hips gently and he stopped for a second, realizing that, indeed she wasn’t running and that while it was very obvious that they both wanted the physical intimacy that they’d been sharing now, this was as good opportunity as any to maybe step out of that comfort zone they had up until now. “But I also think that all of those very same ideas can happen somewhere else; like in my yacht, enjoying the sun. Just you and me. What do you think?”
A mischievous grin tugged at her lips as he listed off the ideas he could have for them and their time together, but it very quickly turned into a soft one the second he gave her that lopsided smile of his. She was glad that he didn’t have too much time to notice how soft he made her as he leaned in to press a kiss to her jaw. She knew she needed to do a better job of hiding her real feelings from Emir. It would be too easy for him to use them against her, manipulate them even. Holly should know, she’d done the very same to many poor victims in her day.
This was why she fought so hard to keep what she had with Emir purely physical and purely at an emotional arms’ length away. She was terrified of another person having this much power over her because she was terrified of being hurt. And Emir could hurt her. Even now, she knew that if she didn’t keep the walls high enough around her heart, he could very easily rip it to shreds.
As she listened to his suggestion, an internal battle waged. Spending the day wrapped up in his sheets was an entirely different matter than going on some sort of outing with him. As she contemplated what she should do, she cocked her head to the side, making a show of how much she really was considering this, hoping to keep him on his toes just a little bit. However, Holly wasn’t used to depriving herself of anything she wanted. So if she wanted to enjoy an afternoon with Emir on his yacht, she sure as hell wasn’t about to say no. “Well, I suppose that doesn’t sound like too awful of an idea.” When she finally agreed, her devilish smile was back and she leaned in to whisper in his ear, “So long as you agree to rub sun tan lotion on my back.” With a teasing smirk, she brushed her lips over his before pushing herself off of his lap and moving to retrieve her discarded clothes from the floor.
