“Wars over kid. What now?” An idle sailor asked.
“We made our money...now we...celebrate I suppose.” The young captain replied.
“Sure. What about after? How do we make -more- money? How’re you and your brother going to make more with this ship!” The sailor laughed as he pointed out the make of a ship. The boys had done it, the war had progressed and they’d managed to capture and then repurpose a Zandalari ship. It went well to smuggle goods to needy alliance soldiers. The Horde has not a clue the humans that operated the ship. Their survival atleast suggested that.
The young captain smiled. “We go home now. David. We go home. Well maybe not home I’d like to have my fun before responsibility kicks in completely. Just...a few more months should be fine. They’ve not asked about us. Right? Everything should be fine. We’ll land in Stormwind, celebrate. As for more money making? We’ll find out what to do about that in the future. I’m sure Roland will find another way to entice us all for gold, girls, and glory.” Then a thought struck good old Rhett whilst he stood on the upper deck. “David.”
“Yes captain?” David just...observed. He knew at the end of the day a pair of hopeful idiots ran the ship. Very...very lucky boys. But idiots. “Do I look -too- much like my brother?”
“You are identical twins. Mister Vanburen.”
“That is Lord Vanburen to you. Roland can be ‘Mister Vanburen.’” Rhett rolled his eyes with a slight grin appearing on his lips. “Well I’m going to change that. New big city new dreams. I’ll just...dye my hair! Yes. That’ll do. I’ll color it, but some new gear. It’ll be swell and the color washes out before we go home. Perfect plan.”
David just shook his head. “Sure. Good luck kid. Good luck.”
“Thank you David. I’m glad we hired you! You’ve been a wonderful first mate and as promised when we get back everyone gets paid appropriately for how we did during this war.” Rhett bobbles his head up and down quite eagerly. It was a nice sum of gold they’d made transporting goods to dangerous areas.
“Where’s our Tidesage? We need to head to Stormwind Clarissa! The tides won’t magically turn this big hunk of troll junk without you dear!” Rhett chimes in a friendly way. It’d been months of back and forth. Rhett was the captain and Roland handled accounting. It just worked that way.
Rhett went down below though, he’d stuck on the idea of changing. Independence sounded wonderful. To not match his brother in the new city? Perfect. He’d write a simple letter to send to both his uncle and father. Whomever got it first with how far away it all was.
‘Dear family,
We aren’t dead. Wars over and were in Stormwind for awhile for repairs to our ship and celebration. We’ll be home soon. Also. Is the Sudden Seabreeze a bad ship name? Blame Roland for the ship getting that name.
Yours truly,
The boys.’
The letter was sealed with wax, the signet ring of the Vanburen household put to use just once in many months. He’d have that sent through the mage mail to both men addressed for it. Stormwind and a new look here we go!
(A post for my and the twins absentness. Enjoy. *bows*
