This is a prime example why Black women/of color don’t share their emotional pain and mental illness because it’s a joke to yall. This is also why people on this site and in the world hide their real selves because it’s always about the next roast or drag. Like yall really need fucking let go of whatever hurt that makes you think it’s funny to laugh at people’s pain.

To you, you may be thinking it’s never that serious to attempt to take your life over a dude or relationship. But they way yall kikiki over Black women/of color and their relationship status and proximity to beauty as a marker of date-ability, that shit becomes difficult to see yourself outside of your ability to have a relationship when memes circulate continuously about why SHE is the reason the relationship failed.

I don’t know why Kehlani attempted suicide nor is it my business. I’m not even sure about the extent of the situation with Kyrie or PartyNextDoor but it seems yet again, a young woman’s trust was broken not just by one or both of those men, but all participating in bashing her regardless of her suicide attempt.

I’ve been there several times - the pressure to keep and maintain relationships is placed heavily on the shoulders of women. Before yall know all the facts, she’s already burned at the stake. You’ve already tried her and found her guilty and utilize it to support your misogyny. Your jokes support dangerous heteronormative rhetoric and continue a culture of gendered violence that makes it okay for intimate partner violence on an emotional and physical level because people see these “jokes”, internalize it, and act on it because you’ve reduced a woman to a thing. I think people really need to understand how mental illness intersects with misogyny.

Praying for you Kehlani and all the other Black women/of color silently suffering even those who are physically no longer here.

All of this so much. The lack of empathy after finding out she attempted suicide really blew my mind. As if she was “just doing it for attention.” I don’t know why that is trivialized to this extent. That girl took steps to end her life, thank God she was able to be saved, but the fact that she attempted it in the first place speaks to her pain.

I can’t believe people are mocking her for assuring her fans etc, that she was fine. The way her suicidal actions are being dismissed outta hand is truly staggering. I don’t know any person, who is mentally sound, that would attempt that in a ploy for attention. Someone could have not been there and it would have been final.

Honestly, this just spotlights how little mental health really means to people. If you can’t understand the enormity of trying to take your own life then it makes sense that warning signs go ignored.
