Happy as Kings Found Object Assemblage — Rustic Found Object Assemblage — Antique Key Assemblage

This charming found-object assemblage features a collection of odds and ends that fit together within an antique box. The piece includes bits of reclaimed home hardware, three old photographs from a family in Cleveland, Ohio, a toy sheep come home to graze, antique keys, and a brief poem by Robert Louis Stevenson. The poem, set within the frame, reads, The world is so full of a number of things. Im sure we should all be as happy as kings. Leigh Hunts poem Jenny Kissd Me is the feature of this romantic assemblage. Set within an antique sewing machine drawer, youll spy an assortment of measurement elements—ruler, gauge, clock, world maps—that keep track of the passage of time. A young girl enjoys a ride on a carousel pony, and a portrait of a young woman (Jenny? The young girl grown up?) personalize the scene. Antique beads spill out from the assemblage, and antique lace suspends a lock through the drawer. Home Style Found Object Assemblage — Found Object Interactive Assemblage

This interactive assemblage features a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844–89) that conjures the comforts and Sanctuary of home. Within the antique box, youll spy assorted home-style objects, with a vintage photograph of a homestead as the backdrop. There is a well-worn bottle filled with beads, a pair of scissors, some door hardware paired with a finial, a tarnished spoon and photographs—perhaps the family that called his house Home, and perhaps their family dog? Look closely at the dog photo, and youll see a toddler on a tricycle in a vintage photobomb. In the compartment beneath the homey scene is an antique spool, still coated with the fibers from the thread it held, now wrapped with the Hopkins poem that reads: I have desired to go Where springs not fail, To fields where flies no sharp and sided hail, And a few lilies blow. And I have asked to be Where no storms come, Where the green swell is in the havens dumb, And out of the swing of the sea. This poem is entitled Heaven-Haven, and for many, memories of home are truly a kind of heaven. Gently spin the spool to read the entire poem within the box. Lord Byron Poetry Assemblage Night Light — Found Object Romantic Assemblage — Vintage Feather Assemblage Art

This found-object poetry assemblage features the work of Lord Byron blended with vintage feathers, and it doubles as a night light. Set within an antique drawer are two compartments—the top section holds vintage feathers from a womans hat, a vintage doorknob and salvaged painted spindle, and an illustration of a woman wearing the newest hat design cut from a 1905 magazine. The bottom section houses a 7-watt bulb that shines through a vintage mesh sieve. The sieve is attached with a hinge to allow for an easy light-bulb change. The six-foot cord with rotary switch extends through the back of the piece. The romantic excerpt from Lord Byron reads as follows: She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all thats best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes. This antique wood block lends itself well as a found object rustic assemblage. Drill holes once holding small took elements now hold pieces of the past—a doorknob, a drawer pull, a doorknob rosette. Youll also spy antique tin-type portraits, a watch piece, bits of lace, and a tarnished ring. Set within one of the holds is a quote from poet Oliver Wendell Holmes that reads, Love is the master key which opens the gates of happiness. The assemblage measures 11 high, 3.5 wide and 1.75 deep.
