The Thirroul House, a 1980s cottage with open living and entertaining space, is located in Thirroul, Australia.
It was builded by Jason Miles.
Description by Jason Miles:
This 1980s cottage needed a significant rear addition to create more open living and entertaining space and give flowing access to the beautiful gardens. Upon a heated polished slab we built lightweight framing to support high ceilings and wide-span openings. The internal walls feature unique curves that seamlessly become the ceiling while streamlined kitchen joinery and extensive light and circulation deliver a true inside-out lifestyle. Again, the key to this job was shared enjoyment of creativity and constant communication.

Description by 1919:
Finland’s proximity served as an inspiring factor in the development of this space. The building also, found itself surrounded by a dense belt of firry forest on two of its sides; a fact that added to a sort of natural “scandinavian countryside” feeling of the area.
We used as much of the structural elements of the building in the interior as was sanely possible. Materials was rather succinct and included oil-treated Wallnut and ash, powder-coated steel and exposed concrete.
A doughnut shaped mezzanine defined the double level open space. Intricately shaped but structurally simple gemini stairs provided the communication between the two levels.
A bare minimum of partitioning kept the space on the open side while still providing quite a few secluded corners for those who can be intimidated by such volume, or simply prefer a more intimate setting.

Description by Dravitzki & Brown:
Located in the small seaside settlement of Kakanui, near Oamaru, the design challenge required a concept that would make the most of the beautiful sea views and sunlight, while balancing the need for privacy from neighbouring properties and the street. The challenge also included working to a small footprint, while maximising the comfort of interior living spaces.
The Whittaker Cube was designed as two levels of just 8 metres x 8 meters with immaculate detailing of durable materials and a cost effective structure. Despite the compact footprint, the design incorporates three bedrooms, while upper level living achieves a light and spacious feel with American Oak featuring throughout the modern interior.
Cedar cladding provides an effective rain screen and allows flashings to be cleverly concealed, while also lending the exterior a simple uncluttered look.

Description by Federico Babina:
ARCHIST is a playful interpretation of the expressive language and aesthetic of some of the most popular artists. I enjoyed creating 27 “paintingsprojects” which represented 27 different artists. There is a Symbiotic Relationship an implicit partnership between Architecture and Art, different art branches meet in many fields. Art and architecture are disciplines that speak and lightly touch each other, the definition and function of the architecture are changing constantly with the development of contemporary art. In this exercise of style I took pleasure imagining architecture steeped of art, designed and constructed through the interpretation of an artist’s language. Art, architecture and sculpture are historically linked by an unbreakable thread, we find examples of paintings and sculptures having a direct influence on architectural design. It is easy to find the art hidden behind an architectural shape or see reflected a geometry of a building painted on a canvas. It is impossible to conceive of the history of art in exclusion from that of architecture. Painting sculpture and architecture have always been complementary disciplines that influence each other and feed to grow and develop along common paths. A sculpture is like a micro-architecture, a facade can become like a painted canvas and a building can be shaped as in the hands of a skilled sculptor. I like finding the hidden architecture in parallel universes, in this sense, the illustration helps me to explore alternative languages. I tried to imagine how it would have been a house designed by Dalí or a museum designed by Miró. These images represent an imaginary and imagined world of shapes that uses the brush to paint architecture.
