TH: Graham/Lounds: [Two To Tango]
Freddie let out a laugh seemed as fake as she had meant it to. The man clearly had more to bargain with than he thought. Fly fishing wasn’t even the weight tipping the scale. “I think you underestimate yourself, Mr. Graham." Sucking in a quick inhalation of the cold air that surrounded them, she readied herself to spew as much bullshit towards the agent as possible. To get somewhere, you have to try and to try means play dirty.
“I could tell your story about how you were wrongly accused, how the world turned it’s back on you..even your closest friends who you thought would never turn to the one man you never wanted them to. However, if we name Hannibal Lecter by name in this book that has my name on the cover along with yours, there might be a few bad stares in my direction. However, that would still benefit you. Do you see my dilemma? Maybe I could agree to scratch your back one more time with this story since it no longer helps me in anyway shape or form and you can agree to something for me…for a change. “
She truly didn’t expect this to be easy, but badgering and hounding were part of her DNA. Come hell or high water, she would get what she wants, when she wants it, no matter who ended up in the crossfire.
Graham could taste the bitter flavors of a mutual badgering between the former hardly-detective and the journalist, something he hardly missed. Him and Lounds were one in the same in some senses, perhaps he owed it to her to open his heart, even if it meant bleeding to death.
"Freddie." He addressed her, oddly, and with a distant expression, "Tell me. How would it benefit me to tell a story that's dead and gone now? The way it should stay, mind you and I could care less about your dirty reputation that you've paid no mind to upkeeping beforehand, why worry about it now?" [...]
"You've got absolutely nothing to lose so that is why it benefits you and you only to cover your hands in dirt and blood, if for one last time." He fumed, pushing his words out like his life depended on it in a direction that he wasn't even looking now, he wasn't even sure if he was directly talking to Lounds and staying on subject, or rather just spewing what he'd felt for her for the longest time, taking out his frustrations for her philistine relationship with Abigail Hobbs that he still withheld vexations with her over.
