This is your not so friendly reminder that…

“Thoughts and prayers for the victims’ families” doesn’t do squat. God isn’t gonna snap His fingers and fix the problem on the spot. You gotta meet Him. Sure, you might only make it a short distance, but you put in some effort to take action to follow your thoughts and prayers.

I’m tired of politicians using that phrase to excuse their complacency while they’re getting an extra buck on the side for doing nothing and not “politicizing” a serious issue. You know what those families want? Justice. To have their kid or spouse back. To find a way to keep it from happening again so that no one else has to suffer through what they’re facing.

Our thoughts and prayers are one of those cases where you gotta put some effort into backing them up. Act as if you know God isn’t going to fix it with a snap of His fingers. If He chooses to? Great. Fantastic. If He doesn’t? Then there’s something you’re missing.

Get your act together and don’t stop at the “thoughts and prayers.”
