〘⛓〙 He did come all this way just to tell the bastard but the words that came from his mouth weren’t the ones he intended. Wasn’t in Gin’s nature to hold regrets. Only when staring down Aizen did he question if he had the chance before. Their game had been the addiction. Sure, Gin shouldn’t be here but he needed to confront his failure. Steps were careful though. Not from fear of the man before him, clearly, but trepidation of his own complicated feelings of the bastard. Couldn’t risk another mistake. Just desired to face the man he followed for most of his life. Almost as if he might be tempted to fall instep behind the self-made God once again.

The expression Aizen gave was expected. It suited their relationship, didn’t it? Gin in return gave an unreadable expression. At least it would be those that didn’t know him so well. Unsure how he should feel. He gave himself a long moment to work that out before speaking again.

“Is tha’ sa? Since yar the one bound I figured ya might na be available ta come ta me. At least the throne suits ya, Captain Aizen.”

This is also interesting– it’s the first time, I think, that we’ve seen Gin say something that Aizen finds off-putting, and of course, it’s because it shows that Gin is aware of what Sosuke Aizen the man is feeling behind his facade.

The persona that Aizen assumes is capable of amusement, of course. But actual enjoyment? The type of emotion that might indicate that he can be satisfied, that he regards something in this world without any sort of detachment? That’s not a part of the Sosuke Aizen he’s projecting to those around him. But Gin sees through that, because Gin knows full well the opacity of an assumed persona– and the thrill of the hunt.

How To Annoy Aizen; The Untold Story.

Persimmons. Gin knows everything there is to know about his favorite fruit. It’s about 75% of his diet. If not eating the fruit he dried himself, he’s using it in anything possible. Might be part of why the bastard is so lithe but he really eats like a child.

He’s made his own dried persimmons for some time but could only use what he could find. Once he became a shinigami, he had access to more and fresher fruit. Until the time he became a captain with his own barracks. An entire area for him to turn into a persimmon tree grove. So he did.

With all his trips to the human world, he was able to learn even more about them and get his hands on other varieties. There are two types that come in a few varieties leaving Gin the chance to cross breed and work out the best kind to make dried.

Hachiya are hung to dry for four to six weeks until their sugars come to the surface. While fuyu are more suited for desserts. Gin has tried every kind he could and all their shapes and colors. Each one has a use they are suited well for depending how sweet or bitter it is.

As much as he ignores his paperwork, Gin tends to his trees everyday that he can. Trimmed, free of pests, even labeled. Rumors came around that he spent more time with his trees then even his own lieutenant.

It can easily be assumed Aizen replaced Gin, and in turn Kaname, for certain times. Would have looked strange if three captains were to constantly vanished on weird missions. Take the incident with Isshin. Already it was pointed out how a single captain going off and disobeying orders looked. This was clearly a common thing Aizen, Gin, and Kaname did. So measures being taken to hide that fact would need to be taken.

No one seemed to really notice Aizen not being the real Aizen leading up to the vizard incident. Sure, it got a few strange looks but that was it. It was all too easy for him to do as he pleased by letting something else take his place. People weren’t close enough to ever notice the differences.

This is something Gin took notice of quickly. At the side of his then lieutenant while his own captain didn’t care to pay attention. Back then it was easy enough for a young third seat to be pretty unnoticeable. Maybe he was doing work or training. Didn’t seem to cause any care if a seated office wasn’t close by. As he grew though and became lieutenant himself, his absence would be noticed more.

Logic states the more work they had to do, the more it was needed to put something in their places. When they were in the human world or Hueco Mundo, something had to be in their place. Since Gin made it far too easy for people to avoid him, a replacement was rather easy. The only people that would have suspected something are Izuru and Rangiku. Although Izuru wouldn’t dare question his captain even if he acted slightly odd. People could have told him Gin was always odd and he was just paranoid.

Rangiku, on the other hand, would have called out Gin. One day he’s acting strange and the next day like nothing was wrong. Even though she wouldn’t have known about the replacement, she would know something isn’t right time to time. At least on the rare times Gin even allowed the woman close enough. Just another reason he kept Rangiku so distant from him so she couldn’t point out the flaws in a replacement. If she did look too hard into it, Gin worried the consequences.

All in all, it was too easy to be replaced. People didn’t look that hard or get to know him. Just like with the man he followed.
