Independent RP for DC Comic's Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson ( Pre-N52 )

      Jaz audibly laughed, a rarity, even around people she was close to. “You two never knew what you were doing. Didn’t know how to curb Grant being a jackass, then didn’t know what to do with a kid so different from you.”

      She was smiling as she signed, clearly not saying this in anger or frustration. “But I don’t think any parents really know what they’re doing.”

     A smile tugged at Slade’s lips when Jaz laughed. It was such a pure sound, infectious. Hearing it was like finding an oasis in the middle of a desert. The subject of Grant brought him back down a bit, though. Something he’d never been able to fully come to terms with, not like he had with Jaz.

     “The problem with Grant was we didn’t realize he was a jackass until it was too late. At the time he just seemed strong-willed,” He shrugged, and took a few contemplative bites of his food. It was clear he had more to say, but whatever it was he kept it to himself.

      “Wouldn’t really surprise me,” Terry mumbled. “There’s a lot of assholes in the world.”

      He pushed himself up. “Okay… What do I call you, anyway?”

     “Mr. Wilson,” Slade answered, watching Trauma push himself up with crossed arms, “Or Sir. I don’t know how your parents raised you, but I expect ‘yes, sir’s and ‘no, sir’s from you. Backtalk will not be tolerated. If I ask you to do something it’s for a reason whether I feel the need to tell you the reason or not.”

“I had good reason.” And a lot of anger. Some of which is very much still lingering. Hopping up on one crates she sighed.  

“Well, Searchers was going to stop and confiscate an arms deal but then we found out the buyer was you and I didn’t particularly want any of my agents dead tonight so I decided I was the most bullet proof person on the team.” They thought she was crazy for just walking up like this too but that’s a bridge she’ll burn later. “I don’t suppose you’re in the mood for sharing.”

     Slade crossed his arms, and leaned against a nearby support pillar, “Still as smart as ever. I should probably work on my predictability, though. That’s going to bite me in the ass sooner rather than later,” He chuckled softly, “It’s been how many years since the divorce, and you’re still trying to get half of everything I own?”

      “I think Mom was more responsible, but…” He trails off and shrugs. Not much else to say about Addie right then; the pang of her being gone by the time he came back to life was still sharp.

      “Well, someone had to be the good kid of the family.” His eyes crinkled in laughter.

     “She was...” Slade poked at his plate, not sure how to express his feelings towards Adeline, and recognizing it probably wasn’t a conversation topic Joey wanted to dwell on, “She was, in a way, I suppose.”

     “It certainly wasn’t going to be Grant,” He chuckled in a slightly exasperated way, “I’ll never understand what we did to make you two such polar opposites. Maybe it was just genetic, or the fact that we had no idea what we were doing when we had him.”

      Terry paused in his futile struggle and stared up at Slade. “Yes,” he answered, almost pleading.

      “Can you actually… you’d want to help me?”

     “No, I just asked you because I enjoy dangling hope in front of other people,” Slade rolled his eye under the mask, standing up when it became clear Trauma probably wasn’t going to try running away, “It never hurts to have powerful allies, so it’s in my best interest to help you before you become an enemy.”

OOC: What up, it’s your friendly neighborhood Beetle here to tell you I will be going on HIATUS FROM 2/28 TO 3/20 and possibly a few days after that. I’m moving in a week, and between now and leaving I only have about four days where I’m not working and I haven’t started packing or prepping. I might pop in for a few posts here and there, but mostly I’ll be stressing, packing, sleeping, and driving when we finally head out.

During this time, mutuals are 100% invited to contact me on d!scord @ Beetle#0612 to chat or plot. I’ll be reblogging this post a few times between now and coming off hiatus.

     Sleep deprived wasn’t the word Slade would use, napping was more of an excuse to be alone than an actual need to sleep, but Joey didn’t need to know that. “No, you should be fine. The walls are thick, and, even if they weren’t, I like hearing you play.”

      Joe smiled. “Alright. Get some rest, okay, dad?”

      He patted Slade’s shoulder before setting about to get his guitar. Music had always been helpful before, so hopefully, it would still be beneficial to Joe now.

It’s not like she knew the weapons sell off was for Slade. Searchers was just supposed to be stopping an arms deal. And who would turn down a chance to restock the Toy Box? Should have known sneaking up on him wasn’t a good idea. Though it wouldn’t be the first time a gun was pointed at her.

“We both know if you wanted to shoot me, you would have done it a long time ago Slade.” 

Great. The sight of Addie still made Slade’s heart flutter, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t a pain to deal with. Especially when the meeting was unplanned, and didn’t involve their children or matters relating to them.

     “Only one person here has a history of shooting their partners, ex or otherwise,” Slade shrugged, holstering his weapon, “What are you doing here?”
