Happy Birthday Steven Universe

So Steven Universe is probably one of the few shows that I call “The Best Cartoon Shows in History” like, this is even better to watch than older Cartoon Network shows in my opinion. 

What makes this show so great are…

1) Look how far the Crystal Gems has gone through from this

to an actual loving family 

2) It mostly taught everyone a really helpful life lessons like 

Don’t keep your demons in, it’s only a thought

3) It’s Cartoon Network first ever women creator 

4) It shows LGBT 

5) It’s beauty 

6) It’s creativity such as…

Gem fusion

The creation of Gems 

Diamonds being their superior

7) It has really great character development, such as

Connie becoming a swordsman

Peridot and Lazuli friendship

So this is what I love about the show, it characters, setting, creativity, and life lessons.

Talk about speaking truth to power…

I want to applaud Ashley Williams, the #BlackLivesMatter protester who confronted Hillary Clinton and demanded an apology for Clinton’s use of “superpredators with no conscience and no empathy, who need to be brought to heel” when she used dog whistles to refer to Black youths as little more than animals, as she advocated for Bill Clinton’s notorious 3-Strikes crime bill (which disproportionately targeted and imprisoned Black people).

Clinton replied, “You know what? No one has ever asked me about this before. You’re the first one to ask me about it.” 

Besides noting the obvious problem with Ms. Clinton apparently needing to be publicly prompted before it ever even occurred to her to apologize for saying something so casually racist, if there are people who have spoken to her about this, then I hope they feel sufficiently empowered to step forward and make Mrs. Clinton have to explain her obfuscation.

I find it very hard to believe that no one at all has ever spoken to her and never asked about this before.

And once again, all respect to Ms. Ashley Williams. Disruptive action protests take a lot more than planning and coordination - it also requires guts. I’m a soon to be 32 year old Black man who is an inch shy of 6 feet tall, tipping the scales at 185 pounds, and I seriously doubt that I would have had even half the courage needed to do what Ms. Williams so bravely did.

From Bree Newsome to Sandra Bland and beyond, my people are stepping up and speaking out, and I am so proud.

I always date people who make music..

My history of boys, men, involves musically talented people. Hella talented. Rappers, singers, beat makers/producers. Fuckboys but I will always respect the true artist in them. Local but going places, I can feel it. I don’t know why. I’m still trynna figure that out, why I attract/am attracted to artists.

Anyways, I love listening to someone’s new beat and feeling chills run down my spine. I love when someone is like “You gotta listen to this!” And fire flows through my ears. I get just as excited as them. Deadass. The energy is crazy.

I love watching them get in their zone. Letting the passion show. Getting lost in the notes, the flow. It’s a wonderful thing to watch.

I’ll probably wind up marrying a Producer. And I’m okay with that.
