Part Nine #5 - Only, Only 🎶 (wc: 1,232)
Sunset came in a flash… Literal cameras flashing, because Camila and Lexi wanted to pose for the cameras, the day they’d get their hot girl summer tans during literal spring.
Later that evening, at the Lagoona Bar, you, Camila and Lexi ordered gelato in petite little cups and wooden spoons, already discussing where to go for dinner on a whim, not wanting the day to end… even though technically it just did.
“Guys, it’s getting darker and darker outside yo!” Lexi points to the shore, its horizon all black and blurred. “What should we eat? What are we feeling for right now?”
Camila takes a scoop of her taro gelato sprinkled in mini mint-colored marshmallows. “Honestly? Whenever I don’t know what to eat but have to make a last minute decision, A&W is my go to Heaven but at night when everyone probably has the same idea…”
So you suggested. “K-Barbeque, anyone?”
Camila and Lexi eye you like you’ve just won the golden button in America’s Got Talent.
“You genius.”
And as if on cue, the speakers at the bar roared arguably the best riff-based music phenomenon song of the year that is ‘Folded’ by Kehlani.
Literally just seats away from you three, another group of young people had microphones in hand, blessing the ears of everyone at the Lagoona Bar that night with their astounding vocal riffs that could send nightingales to sleep.
A little further away from them was… not a DJ, given the lack of equipment and CDs, but some chill hippie who had the aura of a DJ (headsets and sunglasses on and everything) with Youtube opened on his laptop screen.
Lexi took notice of this, and so did Camila, and eventually so did you.
Lexi elbowed Camila gently. “Cami, we should dance.”
“Girl, let me finish my gelato first. And anyway, I don’t know that many choreos.”
“Neither do I…!” You attempted to save yourself from getting dragged into Lexi’s antics but with you being Lexi’s spiritual twin, that label in it of itself already dug you way too deep into a pit you could no longer climb out of.
So Lexi’s attention goes to you for a second, and then she goes all sixth-grade-hunger-games-role-playing mode in the next. “Okay okay okay so Camila and I are going to dance, right. Y/n, you’re going to sing.”
“Not after the bombshell professional riffer I am not!”
Camila chuckles, and what Lexi says after that makes her chuckle even harder.
“Who needs to feel insecure over a professional riffer when we have Shakira’s long long sister in our trio!”
“Lex, if the girl doesn’t want to, she doesn’t have to.”
You didn’t know at the moment if this had been reverse psychology coming from Camila or not… probably not… but follow-up from the K-BBQ idea, another Einstein level genius idea came to mind. “I’ll only sing a full song if it’s 1&Only by Xlov.”
Camila and Lexi eye you like you’ve won three golden buttons in America’s Got Talent.
“You genius!”
The group had initially planned to take whatever hotel was nearest to the interview site for their idol activities, and with a little bit of bribing and convincing, they ended up choosing Lagoona Beach.
Wumuti had insisted to the group before leaving the hotel the following day that they’d at least have some time off later in the evening to fully explore said beach.
Upon returning to their hotel after a busy day and getting themselves unready, the group dressed into comfortable hoodies and took a walk together around the moon-risen shore.
Haru walks right behind Wumuti along the shorelines where light was limited, and no one was really in the waters or by the shore during these hours. Rui and Hyun had been chattering behind him. Haru didn’t join in this time around.
He just continued eating a club sandwich he snatched on during breakfast buffet hours earlier in the day.
Otherwise, out here with the company of the moon and his friends, he didn’t hear anything other than muttered voices and the chewing sounds of his own closed mouth.
And then.
Music.
Xlov music.
“… Do you hear that?”
Everybody whipped their heads around to Haru, Wumuti stopping in his tracks, Rui and Hyun abruptly stopping their conversation.
They did hear their own song coming from… the bar.
Wumuti was the first to walk away from the shore, closer to the bar, her members following just behind her like little ducklings, first Haru, then Rui, and the tallest member, Hyun, at the back.
Climbing the first three to four steps, Wumuti sees a small crowd form, watching as the girl sings between her two friends, singing her heart out to Wumuti’s lines.
This very familiar girl… who just so happens to be Wumuti’s personal bag maker the owner of Neopolithreads with her respective seatmate and Spring Fest MC buddy.
Rui and the maknae line noticed, too. “Oh my gosh she’s still here with her friends!”
Hyun raised a brow at Rui, Haru turns his head abruptly towards Rui.
Both of them turn their heads around at the same time.
But Hyun was the only one to speak. “You met this diva before? Without me?”
“You guys were still getting your makeup done so I went down for a drink and coincidentally bumped into her!” Rui turns back to watch the small business owner turned stage singer. “Good job, Kylie! You’re doing amazing, sweetheart!”
Wumuti repeatedly does the clock it gesture.
“Ooh! *느껴져 heart beat 'Cause I know you're the one, So let me know what you wanna do…~” the singer pauses for a moment, taking a breath before letting her voice glaze the hazey night air like honey in a jar, “Float away, so high up in the clouds, We're in the clo-o-ouds now, mm-mm~”
“Oh my gosh I am so gagged.” Wumuti stated, hand over his chest as if offended but clearly it’s the opposite emotion he’s feeling right now.
“Pre-chorus ateeee!” Rui too does repeated clock it finger gestures.
“Oh my gosh the two girls are in position.” Hyun sounded like he was screaming in excitement, but this was just level two Hyun anticipation right here. With a hand over each of his hyung’s shoulders, he announces, “They’re getting ready to dance!”
“Give me energy, Energy, What you say? Bombs and away, Burning in your heart **붙잡아 달려 난, No lies, I'ma give it to you straight~”
But all Haru could get his vision to focus on was the singer in the middle.
As backhanded as it was, he did not stare silently, undisruptedly, because of her singing voice alone, more so the whiplash from hearing her bold voice strum through the bar while, in his head, he pictures a shyer woman with shoulders more slouched than these ones, voice far more timid than this one, giving a proudly calm speech of her life story for those potential students who had felt seen from her.
That day, she wore casual but neat clothes and had her hair slightly wavy and put down.
That day, she looked neat and proper even with the quieter demeanor.
Today, she seemed.
Lively. Haru finishes his train of thoughts in his mind. She looks lively, and… like a whole other person.
*neukkyeojyeo (heartbeat) = I feel the (heartbeat)
**butjaba dallyeo nan= I run as you hold me

On a more sentimental note, this is the last part for this little 'anime beach episode' segment of the story and the end of spring/ summer in spring era as a whole!! Good news is that, hopefully for the rest of July, I'll be back to posting twice a week. Hopefully the next era of this story progresses well, too!

Part Nine #4 - 'A Shadow Of Myself' (wc: 755)
“Did she text back, Lex?”
Lexi eyes her phone screen with no replies coming back to her, humped over on her seat. “No… she did not. It’s been an hour.”
“Well, the beach isn’t a walk in the park.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“The beach is huge, Lex.” Camila says before glancing back at her book, back pressed against the wooden panels on the beach chair. “Y/n’s probably at a bar or something.”
“She’d never…”
“Lex, I know she’s a year younger than us but she isn’t a baby.”
“She’ll always be my baby. I’ve known her since she was little and I’d never seen Y/n do anything reckless. She’d never drink alcohol unless it’s evaporated into a dessert, she’d never vape or smoke, and all throughout school, she’d consistently turn down her harem’s confessions to her.”
“She had a harem during grade school?”
“It was like…” Lexi pauses, unwinding her fingers. “A few boys and some girls in the span of ten years.”
“... I wouldn’t call that a harem, but, whatever floats your boat, Lex. And anyway, does she turn them down because she finds none of them attractive or because that’s part of her righteous no-nonsense personality?”
“Both.”
“Well… then maybe she’s just exploring the drink bar? Or maybe she’s still on shore, just not with us? Even if she is at a bar or something like that though, you don’t have to actually drink drink there to explore and be present you know… unlike one of us laying here…” Camila side eyes Lexi and the phone still clutched in her hand, still on the same group chat, on the same message.
“I know… I just… it feels weird.”
“It doesn’t feel like a Y/n-thing she’d do?”
“Not necessarily. I mean, whether its a ‘her’ thing or not, it feels weird to witness it without her. Ever since the start of Uni, and even as little kids, I always wanted the best for her. Just because she was quieter than me, enjoyed hobbies that were less ‘flashy’ than mine, I never wanted her to feel like a shadow of myself in our friendship.”
“The shadow friend in a pair of besties… that terminology sounds familiar.”
“Did you read it in a psychology book?”
“No, I found out through pov acting tiktoks.”
“Oh. Well, anyways. I’ve always wanted the best for Y/n, so there’s that. But then things happened two years ago that were totally out of her control, and now she’s doing her best to control what she couldn’t in the past, and I don’t want that burden to fester her or…” potentially destroy her, like uncle.
Lexi said nothing. She just stared, eyes on the sand but really, she stared into nothingness. It wasn’t even her problem to deal with, but then again, how could anyone not feel sympathy for a young girl with a dream in the wrong time and place?
Camila takes note of this, takes note on how telling Lexi simply wasn’t enough to get her mind to loosen up a little.
Camila bookmarks her most recent page, resting her book on her lap and then sits back up to meet eye-to-eye with Lexi. “Lex, do you really believe that Y/n isn’t doing her best right now?”
“I… guess I’ll technically never know, but… I feel like sometimes, it’s more like she’s rather trying her best to pass by rather than being at her best. Don’t you not feel bad for her either?”
“Of course I do, how could I not? I couldn’t imagine being as strong as her. Didn’t you tell me she didn’t even cry when the news was dropped?”
“Nope. Not a single tear.”
“Damn… Do you… sometimes think she’s bothered by it on the inside?”
“During my first year? Absolutely. Even if she didn’t show it, it had to bother her in some way or another. Now? I genuinely guess I’ll never know. Regardless of that, I just hope she’ll continue her life with less weight on her shoulders.”
“But that weight shouldn’t be weighing you down too, Lexi. Y/n’s struggles shouldn’t deplete you of your own energy and light either.”
“Right, after all, the best thing we could do is be there for her, right?” Lexi wasn’t really asking Camila that last question. “Dammit, I’m sorry for getting emotional.”
“It’s okay girl, you’re good. I’ll give her a call to see if she needs us or some time alone, okay?”
“Yes… Wait, no…”
“Hm?”
“... She’s texting me.”
A/n: y/n nonchalant final boss or is it rlly as deep as Lex claims it to be? (On a more serious note: We get more Y/n lore!! and serious scenes!! Yippee :PPP)

🍁𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: After some long weeks with your new "job" you finally get to meet the bassist.
“Life, although it may only be an accumulation of anguish, is dear to me, and I will defend it.” – Mary Shelley, 'Frankenstein'
It has been 3 weeks since you’ve been accepted as a Roadie for the Blossom Whisps.
Roadie was very…loose.
Since then you had been tasked with a list of things including booking shows and practices for them with their most recent being a studio to practice at within budget. When talking to your friends they look at you quizzingly saying that sounded more like an unpaid manager than a roadie. You ignored them because you didn’t really care. You were working with your idols, the people you looked up to and loved what they did.
So you sucked it up and did what was asked of you.
Today you were hauling in equipment for their practice at the studio you managed to find. You were the one setting stuff up inside while two others took instruments and the like out of the band’s van. You were alone right now making sure the bass and guitar were in their proper positions along with setting up the drum set correctly.
It was quiet, peacefully quiet, until you heard footsteps behind you.
You turned and were met with Rui’s intense gaze. She walks over while you stand frozen feeling intimidated and something else bubbles in your stomach. You stood up straightener when she stopped in front of you and looked you over almost as if she was sizing you up. As she stared you down, you stayed frozen, flushing as you felt her eyes trail all over you. It felt like hours until Rui uncrossed her arms with an amused smirk. She reaches over patting your cheek with her warm hand. “I see why Wumuti picked you. Hardworking and cute.~” She mused, smirk widening when you gave a shy ‘thank you’.
She gave you a once over and a flirty wink before turning and leaving with a sway to her hips. You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. Your face was burning hot now and you weren’t quite sure why or if you could even handle more of this kind of attention.
A part of you though enjoyed this, heat pooling in your lower stomach and butterflies fluttering in your chest.

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.” – Charlotte Brontë, 'Jane Eyre'
That night Chul had thrown a fit.
Not really more like she whined and despaired while Joong just shook his head and sassily called her a boomer. He went on a tangent about how she would have known them from the start if she was more on her socials and less on her games or books blabbering on like a dramatic mother while she just whined excuses and gave little pouts. Hongjoong just sighed, “You’re hopeless. Get some sleep.” He mused, urging her to sleep and not let this get to her.
But the encouragement hadn’t helped.
She was still swimming in her own thoughts even after hanging up. She tried to sleep, taking a hot shower to try and clear her mind, getting into her most comfortable pajamas and laying down.
It didn’t work of course.
She stayed up, phone lighting up her face while she scrolled through her new friend’s profiles wondering how she was so dumb to not realize this before. Realize how they seemed to have such tight schedules or how they always seemed to be hiding in public opting for more private sections or covering their handsome faces with masks. She found out that Jungkook was a popular gamer and a part of a very good E-Sports team. Jimin was a makeup artist, doing ‘get ready with me’s and makeup tips. Taehyung was an artist, works featured in galleries. Jin owned a restaurant for crying out loud! While Namjoon was a Rapper and Producer with a good amount of music out. She looked through them with amazement, they all were so talented and successful. A part of her was starting to feel inferior, why had they stayed friends with her for so long when they clearly were doing so well in their careers? Why were they friends with a no-body? She frowned and tried to push the negative thoughts down while she kept scrolling.
Her deep dive had let her know that there were two others she hasn’t met yet that live with them. She vaguely remembers Jin mentioning them and while she looked through their accounts she let out a groan and ruffled her hair deciding to set the phone down and tried to sleep.
Why were they all so handsome and talented and perfect? It wasn’t fair!
She huffed as she rolled around eventually falling asleep with this new found information floating in her head.
The next day as she ate her breakfast she realized that she was going to have to bring it up to Jimin and Jungkook at some point. This realization hit her like a fast speed train. It made her nauseous, what if they didn’t want to be friends anymore? What if they wanted to completely cut her from their lives or laugh at her? The thoughts swam in her head and she just wanted to hit her head against a wall to make them stop. She groaned, laying her head on her cool dinner table thinking on what her next move should be.
It had been a couple of days since Chul was able to talk with Jimin and Jungkook. Her schedule has not been matching with theirs along with slight avoidance and dismissal on her part. She still hadn’t fully known how to tell them the information she had found out and was stuck in her head. She would constantly brush off their concerns just saying she was tired or busy, avoiding any hangouts they tried to plan when they had the time. This was very much not like the Chul they had come to meet and it was starting to cause concern in the two men. Eventually she figured it out with the help of Hongjoong and San of course. She was in a video call with her three best friends rambling about her predicament. Wooyoung was the first to speak up…more like laugh. He teased her for being so down bad while San gave an apologetic smile on his boyfriend’s behalf. Her three friends haven’t judged her for her apparent feelings for the two men, letting her know love is love and sometimes some people have more to give than others. For this she was greatly appreciative knowing she had a supportive set of friends while trying to figure out her own confusing feelings.
After some more light teasing, that everyone partook in, they came up with a plan for her to come clean. Was it full proof? Hell no. But it could potentially work.
The next day she had texted the two in their shared group chat asking them to come over to hers later that day. She would be free and wanted to catch up with them. They quickly said yes and agreed to come over close to night time since they had some classes they had to finish work for. Chul tried to stay calm as the time seemed to go by slowly, nervously rubbing her hands together while trying to focus on the work in front of her. She kept glancing at the clock and eventually gave up on trying to get anything done and just sat with some music in the background as she waited for the time to come. Eventually she had fallen asleep, an impromptu nap over taking her and waking up when a knock sounded at her door.
She quickly jumped up, running to check herself in a mirror, fixing her hair before going to the door. She opened it and smiled when she saw Jimin and Jungkook standing there. Jungkook had a bag full to the brim with snacks and what looked like a giant teddy bear, one she raised an eyebrow at but didn’t question. Jimin stood next to him, worried etched on his face as his arms were crossed at his chest. Before Chul could say anything, Jungkook launched himself at her, squeezing her in a big hug. He rocked them side to side muttering unnecessary apologies and how worried he was. Chul squealed surprised but hugged back confused and patted his back to make sure he knew it was okay. Her cheeks flushed lightly, her eyes trailing to look at Jimin who gave an amused snort. “Alright big guy, you’re going to crush her.” He gently rubbed his back while Kook just whined refusing to let go. Jiming looked at her with a little shrug. “Guess you’re just going to have to walk with him.” Chul looked at him shocked but sighed with a light laugh and started shimmy her way to her couch, Jungkook in tow.
She tried to sit on the cushion but instead was pulled into Kook’s lap causing her face to go a bright red. “I- Kook! What are you doing?” She squeaked out looking at Jimin to apologize for sitting on his boyfriend but instead found him trying to hide his laughs behind his hand. This just seemed to cause her blush to go darker while she patted Jungkook’s back. “Why are you even apologizing for?” He looked at her with puppy eyes causing her heart to melt into a puddle.
“Well I thought we did something wrong. So I got you apology snacks, an apology bear and verbal apologies.” He said this like it was the most rash and reasonable thing in the world. She stared at him for a minute before turning to look at Jimin who nodded his head.
“We were really worried, you’ve never…avoided us like this before.” He spoke with a soft smile but in his eyes she could see the worry that swam in them. Her face fell and she quickly shook her head.
“No. No. You both didn’t do anything wrong. I just…” She trailed off taking in a breath as they looked at her. Well the plan has been thrown out the window. She sighed and fiddled with her fingers as she looked into her lap. “I just found out that you both…have you know…a big amount of followers online. Like…a lot.” She clumsily explained as best as she could her cheeks burning now from embarrassment. She expected them to laugh at her or something akin to it but she only got a comforting hand on her back from Jimin and wide eyes from Jungkook.
“We’re sorry for not telling you earlier!” Jungkook blurted out, Jimin lightly punching his arm at his lack of tact before giving her a small apologetic smile.
“We are sorry for not letting you know, we were scared of well scaring you away or…” He looked away. “Maybe you would use us for the influence we have.” He trailed off while Jungkook picked up right where he left off, frantically.
“We don’t think that at all now. Actually you’re one of the loveliest people we’ve met! We thought that if we told you now it would make you want to leave.” Jungkook frowned a little at the thought of not being able to see Chul anymore. “So we kept quiet. Most of the people we meet tend to just want us for our money or connections. But you’re so different! So lovely and lively and fun to speak with.” Jungkook started to ramble while Jimin had moved closer, holding Chul’s hand for comfort.
“We’re really sorry, please don’t leave.” He spoke almost pleading while Jungkook squeezed her and she looked at them frantically. She gave Jimin’s hand a reassuring squeeze and rubbed Jungkook’s shoulder gently.
“You guys stop.” She spoke gently and as calmly as she could. “You don’t need to apologize for anything and I’m not leaving. I promise. I would be a fool to leave behind a pair of amazing friends like you two.” She gave them bright smiles allowing them to relax a bit.
“I was a little surprised, I’ll admit that. Also…kinda…embaressed. I never really thought too hard on why you guys covered your faces in public or why you were always so busy. I thought you guys were just very health conscious and had couples’ trips often and left it at that.” She went red when the two looked at each other and laughed but she smiled through it all.
“I am also surprised you’ve stayed my friends for this long. You guys are so…popular and important while I’m just…you know…a nobody.” Jungkook tsked pinching her cheek gently and pulling it a little.
“Hey now, never call yourself a nobody. You’re so talented and nice! We would be crazy to not stay friends with you.” Jimin nodded his head before crossing his arms and looked up in faux thought.
“I think you owe us for all these emotional damages.” He looked at Kook who blinked at him confused before perking up and nodding quickly.
“Yeah! He’s right you owe us!” He leaned over to Jimin and whispered. “What does she owe us?” Jimin just sighed causing Chul to giggle at their antics. She missed them, she really missed them.
“You owe us a date.” Jimin said with finality and a mischievous grin. Jungkook nodded toothy grin plastered on his face. They both looked at her waiting for an answer and through fluttering stomach butterflies she spoke.
“S-Sure.” She cleared her throat. “I mean. Yes. We can go on a date to make up for all the damage I caused.” Jungkook instantly cheered and smushed her against his chest, she laughed loudly while Jimin smiled looking at the two with an expression that Chul couldn’t quite place. Before they could get too excited Jimin perked up remembering he had something else he wanted to bring up. He nervously rubbed the back of his neck and Chul looked at him with furrowed brows.
“What’s wrong?” Jungkook looked at him with a head tilt before it dawned on him to that there was something they had to talk about.
“We had something else to talk to you about.” Jungkook nodded nervously, chewing his bottom lip now. Chul nodded slowly urging him to continue. “Well…we wanted to be transparent with you. You’ve been an amazing friend and now an important part of our lives and we thought we would come clean.” He started looking away from Chul who was looking at him expectantly.
“Kook and I aren't the only ones dating.” He said it quickly like he was pulling a bandaid off as fast and painless as possible.
“Oh? What do you mean?” Jimin fiddled with his thumbs.
“I mean that…Jungkook and I are dating other people as well as dating each other.” Chul slowly nodded, letting Jimin keep talking. He scratched the back of his head as he hummed. “We’re also dating Taehyung…”
“And Namjoon…and Jin.”
“Andddd Yoongi and Hoseok, the guys you haven’t met yet.” It was silent for a long while. Jungkook and Jimin stood frozen waiting.
Waiting for her disgust.
For her disappointment.
For anything really.
She had been looking at her hands in thought for a while. Chul wasn’t sure how she felt right now, she was happy but confused. A small part of her felt an ache, a sudden ache in her heart. She couldn’t pinpoint why really, she was happy because their relationship seemed to make them happy but now she was thinking back to when she hung out with the three of them. Starting to wonder if she had gotten in between them and Taehyung and that’s why they fought. She didn’t want to be a home wrecker of any kind; she just enjoyed their company a lot. She couldn’t keep ignoring the clear growing feelings she had for them too, ones she couldn’t bring up now or ever with this new information. A swarm of emotions filled her but she smiled pushing the rest down.
She gave them a reassurance as she spoke. “Really? That’s amazing. I didn’t…I didn’t know that was possible.” The two men felt their bodies completely relax their muscles tense just a couple of minutes ago. Jungkook was the one to answer now.
“Yeah! Have you ever heard of polyamory?” Chul shook her head looking at him and Jimin.
“Well, it’s when multiple people love each other. For example in our relationship everyone is dating each other but some people might be dating someone else that their partner isn’t dating. It requires a lot of communication but we’ve made it work.” Jimin explained while Jungkook nodded in agreement.
“It was hard at first but now it’s like we all move as one. Our hearts beat together and we can just…tell when something is off.” Chul mulled over this new information feeling the ache in her chest grow but pushing it away as she nodded her head in understanding.
“Okay I see what you mean! You all must really love each other to be able to make this work.” Jimin couldn’t help the loving smile that crossed his face as he looked at Jungkook who gave him one right back.
“We do.” It felt like a nail in a coffin, so final. The tightening in Chul’s chest continued and she couldn’t help but feel empty. Alone.
Alone in a room full of people who cliche of her.
Chul just smiled through as the two stayed to catch up a bit leaving when Chul announced she was tired and wanted to sleep a bit. They gave her hugs and goodbyes promising to text about when they would be having their “date”. Chul just smiled through it all, waving and calling back with ‘okay’. Once the door was closed her smile dropped and she felt sorrow fill her. Her eyes burned with unshed tears as she gripped her hands together tightly.
She had no chance.
These feelings of hers were fleeting and will never be returned.

After a long night of hunting as a group Hyun and the rest of the XLOV Coven did one more patrol around the forest near their home before settling down. Rui eventually meets up with Hyun after doing her own rounds. Hyun held Rui’s hand softly talking as they kept walking. Once there was no danger detected they made their way home. On their way back Hyun’s ears perked up when he heard rustling in the grass. Taking a defensive stance in front of Rui he took a tentative step forward, cautiously. Rui gripped the back of his shirt as she quietly followed hearing cries as they got closer to whatever or whoever was hiding in the grass.
Hyun froze suddenly when a figure came into view in front of them. There was what looked like a young woman. She was scrunched into a ball, legs up to her chest and her forehead pressed to her knees. Her body shook with sobs and Rui’s eyes traveled over her eyebrows furrowed before noticing the wounds on her arms and legs. She let out a small gasp causing the girl to jump surprised, her head whipping in their direction. She looked at them with wide eyes like a deer in headlights. She started to back away still on the ground as she got ready to turn and bolt away.
Hyun extended a gentle hand out to her, relaxing his stand as he crouched down to her eye level. Her pupils shook with anxiety as she kept her gaze stuck on them. Her hands shook in panic, twitching and moving to try and get herself to move away. He moved closer, frowning a little when he saw her body tense up and freeze again. He spoke softly towards the hurt woman trying to soothe her. Rui peered over his shoulder looking over at the woman, concern swimming in her eyes. “Hey darling…”He spoke softly, warmly, in a tone that showed no hostility or danger.
Just pure comfort.
The woman in front of them seemed to calm down at the sound of the tender voice but the fear was still written on her face. This close up he can see the extent of her injuries. Along with the cuts on her arms and legs she had a busted lip, bruising under her eye and more minor cuts along her face that her tangled locks covered. Hyin felt a wave of sorrow and concern wash over him while Rui’s former concern turned to an anger bubbling in her chest. Hyun kept his hand out, still trying to coax her to come closer. “I promise we won’t hurt you. You’re safe here.” He kept the same tender and comforting tone.
Eventually with some more soft and encouraging words, sprinkled in with promises of clean clothes and a comfortable bed, she moved closer but didn’t take the man’s hand. He wasn’t offended by this understanding that trust takes time to build. They lead her to the castle where Wumuti and Hari were anxiously waiting. Their new friend keeps her distance from them as they make it into the big overlooking castle.
The second the trio stopped into the giant structure Muti was in front of them, worried etched on their face and fussing over the two of them. It morphed into horror once they saw the new addition that had come with them. She asked a trillion questions, motherly instinct waving over them in an instance. Hyun held Muti’s arms trying to calm them down while Rui promised they would answer their questions after they fixed up the girl. Muti gently took the scared and confused girl to a bedroom that had a conjoined bathroom. They let her get undressed and in a towel while they drew her a bath. While filling up the bathtub with water, Muti could hear Haru talking to Rui and Hyun about their new house guest. They smiled as they felt the youngest’s excitement. Hearing the door open, they turned their head to the woman now wrapped in a towel. Wumuti gave her a warm, kind smile, one that made her calm down. “I made sure to add lots of bubbles to the bath.~” They mused hoping to start a conversation with her. They kept smiling even when she didn’t answer. Carefully they led her into the bath, looking away politely when she took off the towel. She felt her muscles relax watching as the bubbles tread by on the water. She looked at the person who pulled out a towel. They kept a warm smile before talking again. “I’ll help with your injuries.” She dampened the towel a little before starting to carefully and gently cleaning the wounds on her arms.
Her muscles would tense at the touch but she didn’t move letting them do what they had to. Wumuti hummed a soft comforting tune as they kept cleaning, the tune seeming to lull the injured girl blinking groggily. They smiled and endeared as they noticed she was having a hard time keeping awake. Eventually they moved to wash her hair, moving the tangled hair out of the way. As they did so they noticed her ears were pointed and stared for a second feeling a pit in her stomach starting to come to conclusions on what happened to the poor woman. As sad as it was, they were happy that she was one of them and not a possible threat.
They kept the new information to themself, finishing up before letting her dry herself. As she did that Muti had set out some clothes for her to wear, kindly offered by Haru who insisted that his style was superior to the others. His words, no one else's. Once she was dressed Wumuti had come back into the room with a first aid kit. They both sat on the bed, Wumuti gently taking her arm and started disinfecting her wounds. While doing so they noticed that the minor cuts weren’t healing. Their eyebrows pinched in worry but they tried chalking it up to her body causing a lot of stress that caused her healing to lessen.
Once they were on the last bits of dressing her wounds they decided to ask the question that was floating in their head. “Do you by any chance have a name sweetheart?” Their tone was motherly like honey dripping from each word. She looked at them a little cautiously before nodding her head. Patiently they nodded back with a smile and continued. “Could I know what it is?” With one more glance towards them she quietly and hoarsely answered.
“[Y/N].” No more, no less. With the same patient smile Muti tested the name on their tongue enjoying how it rolled off their tongue. They nodded once more, putting the items back into the first aid kit.
“Beautiful name.” They said simply before standing up. “Welcome to our little coven, [Y/N].~” She looked at them surprised, now focusing on Wumuti’s features and that’s when complete relief washed over her. From that day forward she lived with them and along with this new arrangement she promised to care for them just like they had her.
Ever since that day [Y/N] had been hooked to XLOV’s side, now a part of their coven. The moment she found out they were also vampires she had calmed down completely and almost immediately. Her normal appearance showed once she did, nails elongating into small claws, fangs poking out of her lips and she finally felt relief. Along with this relief was sleepiness. Wumuti had let her stay in the room they cared for her in and she slept, how long they weren’t sure. They did know they would come by to make sure she hadn’t passed away and that she was fed and drank some blood. Making sure she was recovering well. As time passed she got better, slowly getting used to everyone and the new environment.
After a month or so she trusted them enough to tell them what had happened that night. She speaks about being chased by hunters, her own coven abandoning her to save themselves. When she spoke there was a mixture of emotions on their faces. Hyun and Haru showed sadness and compassion while Muti and Rui were filled with anger and disgust. They promised to protect her and never abandon her like her other coven had. They promised safety and [Y/N] promised the exact same.
It’s been years since then and [Y/N] had assimilated herself into the XLOV Coven. Everyday was chaos but welcomed warm chaos. This chaos brought smiles to her face but slowly, after months, a blush started to form as her feelings started to bubble to the surface. She started to notice the lingering touches and glances that seemed to last a little longer than normal. She knew they were just family, she had caught them in many moments. Private ones where their hands trailed over each other's bodies, soft and heated kisses alike and she would be lying if she hadn’t started wanting to be a part of it. She was too scared to bring it up. She was over 1,000 years old and scared of something as small as confessing her feelings. It felt ridiculous but she found a way to suppress these feelings doing pretty good for the most part. Sometimes her mood slipped but she would keep herself busy to not think of it.
Today was one of those days. She had let her thoughts win, falling into a deep black hole. She was feeling insecure of her appearance, comparing herself to the beauty of her coven members. She felt unworthy of their kindness and even more unworthy of their love; she didn’t feel pretty enough to be in their presence or even seen standing next to them. She had stayed in her room for most of the day. Ever since she woke up she had refused to leave, covering mirrors with blankets. She had curled up in her bed, crying as she let herself fall into a pit of sadness.
Haru had noticed the lack of [Y/N] in their day. She frowned and looked at the others a little confused. “Have any of you seen [Y/N] today?” Rui looks up in thought before shaking his head looking at Hyun who also shook their head. Wumuti closed her book looking concerned.
“I haven’t either…” She trailed off. Now they were all concerned and all looked to Wumuti for guidance on what to do. No one saw her leave so she had to be here, right? Muti let out a little sigh as she saw her lovers look at her before setting her book down. She started to focus on the 5th member of the coven and used one of her powers. Each of them had a specialized power, Wumuti's being her hearing and ability to feel a person’s emotions through what she hears. She focused her hearing trailing throughout the castle before it reached her room. Wumuti relaxed a little now knowing she was still in the castle. The other three looked at her with waiting eyes wanting to know what she was hearing.
She could hear soft sobs through the doors, an intense sorrow filling her chest as she did so. She stopped her focus and looked at the others with concern. “I heard her…crying.”
“Crying?!” Rui instantly got up, Hyun holding his hand to calm him down. Wumuti nodded and Rui started pulling away, marching his way to [Y/N]’s room. The rest look at each other even more concerned, following behind the second oldest. Wumuti tried to catch up to be a voice of reason but she didn’t have any luck as Rui already started knocking on her door.
“Maybe we should give her some space.” Wumuti kept trying to reason with Rui trying to hold his hand. Haru was next to Hyun holding their arm and looking at the older members with worry. Rui ignored Wumuti, waving her off as he knocked again. When there was no answer they jiggled the doorknob.
“Open the door, we know you’re crying.” Rui said bluntly, causing Muti to wince a little. There was silence until her soft voice spoke up broken.
“Go away.”
“See. Let’s give her some space.” Rui shook his head before placing his hand on the doorknob again. He kept it there for a good bit and before Wumuti could realize what he was doing the sound of the lock coming undone echoed throughout the empty hall. The other three froze as they looked at each other before looking at Rui.
“Maybe let’s not-.” Hyun was cut off before they could, Rui opening the door to the room and forcing their way into the room.
“We don’t hide from each other. We talk about what’s bothering us. We spoke on this before.” He stood next to [Y/N]’s bed, hand cocked to the side, his hand resting on it. The female vampire squeaked, clutching her blanket.
“I could have been naked!” She said almost in a scolding manner. She was already aware of everyone’s powers so she wasn’t surprised by the door suddenly opening or the fact they knew she was crying and upset. Rui scoffed as the other trickled in, Wumuti with an apologetic look. Haru moved from Hyun’s side to [Y/N]’s. She sat next to her, a comforting presence as she glued herself to her side, gently wiping tears from her face making sure to be careful with her decorated claws.
“If you were naked I would have thanked every ancient god that exists.” He spoke bluntly, Hyun covering their mouth to stop from laughing. Haru looked more scandalized and judgey while Muti smacked his arm going to sit on [Y/N]’s other side. She gently combed her fingers through her hair, gently scratching at her scalp. This seemed to calm the other vampire down.
“What…do you mean by that?” She asked more shyly than she meant but Rui didn’t acknowledge it just waving her off before continuing.
“Not the time.” Rui and Hyun moved closer, kneeling at her bedside, Rui laying their head on her leg while Hyun put a protective hand on her thigh. “Now what’s wrong?” She looked at the four of them nervously and unsure.
But she trusted them.
So she spoke.
“I feel…ugly.” She started. Wumuti placed a hand on Rui's head knowing he was about to interrupt. [Y/N] gave a thankful smile before continuing. “I just feel like I don’t look good enough to be next to you all. Like compared to you all I feel… inferior. Like I don’t belong. It doesn’t help that…” She trailed off which caused them to look at her in question.
“Yes?” Hying coax giving her thigh a little squeeze. She would have blushed if she could.
“Just… I like…you…all.” Her voice became a whisper and she stopped knowing how to make eye contact, the ceiling being much more interesting. They all heard her though, sharing the same almost giddy look but Rui was the first to break the silence.
“Fucking finally!” He yelled moving to hug [Y/N]’s waist. “I’ve been dying to tell you I liked you. No. Loved you, but I was told to wait for your sake. Haru wouldn’t shut up about you for months!”
“Rui!” Haru screeched as her hands flew to her cheeks. If she wasn’t dead she would be blushing. Rui dramatically apologizes, still having a firm hold on her waist while Wumuti scolds him. Hyun laughed at the commotion while Haru fanned her non red face.
“W-Wait, so… you guys…” She looked at them, not being able to finish her question. They all stopped and looked at her with a little smile, a twinkle in their eyes.
“We do sweetheart.~” Wumuti’s voice was like honey, just like that first day but this time it brought a swarm of butterflies in her stomach. The others nodded, Haru’s much more shy.
“Now that we have that settled.~” Rui practically purred his hand moving under her shirt. “I think we should fix that self esteem of yours.~” He hums, eyes practically glowing pink as they push the shirt higher moving to press kisses to the exposed skin. This caused the other vampire to gasp, wiggling a little but not stopping him.
“I think this is the first time I’ve agreed with you today.” Muti mused playfully, moving [Y/N]’s shirt to expose her shoulder pressing kisses and nipping at the skin.
“We’ll make sure you know how gorgeous you are.” Haru whispered in her ear, nipping it and moving to press open mouth kisses along the side of her neck.
“Perfect.: Was all Hyun said before pushing her shorts up and biting down before leaving a trail of sweet kisses along the inside of her inner thigh. [Y/N] felt overwhelmed. She felt so many emotions filling her. Love and need overwhelmed her the most, a heat starting to pool in her stomach and trailed to her pussy.
This definitely wasn’t how she was expecting today to go.
Moonlight shone through the curtained windows, shining on the group of now lovers. Rui was smushed against [Y/N]’s abc. Wumuti behind him while giving them both little soothing scratches with her nails on both their arms. She gave soft comforting words as they came down from the intense actions from earlier. Haru was snuggled against [Y/N] chest already softly snoring as she used the other female vampire’s chest as her pillows. Hyun had gone to get some towels to help clean up, handing one to Muti to help. Once done with cleaning everyone up Hyin slotted themself behind Haru making sure he was holding Haru and [Y/N]. Their hand on both Rui and Wumuti.
They were going to talk more in depth about this new dynamic but for now they were going to enjoy this intimate moment together.
