July Devlog - SubLove HEA Recap
Hi everyone! We're back once again with a little progress update! 😌
First of all... how did July go by so fast?! It honestly felt like we blinked and the month was over lolol
Things got a little chaotic, our schedule ended up all over the place, but we're still happy to have something exciting to share today!
As usual, every time we make a plan, life decides it has other ideas 😅
This past month, a lot happened in our personal lives and unfortunately, not for happy reasons. Because of that, development slowed down much more than we expected.
Even so, we're not giving up on what we love. We kept moving forward little by little, and we're really happy to finally be here sharing our progress with you.
We're still working on the common route, but we've officially finished planning this entire section of the story! 🎉
Without getting into spoiler territory, here's a little preview:
The common route will span five days, following Rosalyn and the whole group before the story branches into each character's individual route.
We've also shared a few extra details for our Ko-fi supporters! If you're curious to learn a little more about what's coming next, we'd love to have your support over on Ko-fi ❤️
As for the art, we've been discussing the possibility of giving the characters some brand-new poses and maybe, just maaaaaybe, the side characters will get some too.
Some of the cast may even receive new outfits.
We started talking about this because most of our recent games feature multiple poses for each character, and since we really want SubLove to be the game we've always dreamed of making, it only feels right to give it that extra level of care and polish.
Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of new progress to report this month, but these are the things we've been working on behind the scenes, and we're excited to keep moving forward.
Juuuust one more thing!
We've mentioned this before, but it's worth bringing up again since it may affect SubLove's development timeline.
As you know, one of our biggest goals for this game is to include voice acting. Right now, we're aiming for partial voice acting (just like in the demo) although having the entire game fully voiced would be an absolute dream.
We also want to create an original soundtrack to make the experience even more special, so we're doing everything we can to make both of those goals a reality.
For those who may not know, we're full-time indie developers trying to make a living from game development while also saving up for SubLove's budget (and for the future of our projects as well).
To be completely honest, it's not easy. What we earn has kept us going (and we're incredibly grateful that, after six years, we're still here!!!), but juggling day-to-day expenses while funding larger projects is a real challenge.
Alex's art commissions have been a huge help, and DemonBear also works a part-time job, which is another reason development sometimes moves more slowly than we'd like.
Because of that, there may be times when we'll pause SubLove briefly to develop smaller commercial games.
Something around the same scope and price as Death is a Guest.
Those projects will help fund SubLove and allow us to keep working toward the game we truly want to create.
We know waiting isn't always easy, and we can't thank you enough for your patience, encouragement, and support. None of this would be possible without all of you. Every kind message, download, purchase, and share helps us keep moving forward.
So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much. ❤️
