Entire floors of apartment buildings had been crudely severed from their original foundation and large chunks of brick and cement littered the broken roads. Split asphalt made it hazardous for any kind of vehicle to navigate and even threatened to harm those who walked close enough to where it looks as if the ground would crumble underneath the lightest feet. It was pure beautiful, chaotic destruction and black lips curled up faintly, proud of the sight that golden-hazel eyes were taking in.
Turning the corner into the alley she usually walked through to get home, Tonelica took notice of a slight change. On the pavement under her feet was a trail of red leading in front of her - blood. Her movements became quicker as she followed the splatters through the alley and into the next. The faint scent of copper caught her attention as she spotted a balled up shape leaning against the wall. Around them, blood and quite a bit of it.
Without a second thought, she stooped down next to the figure, observing it. From the haircut to the figure, it seemed to be male, though she's been fooled before. He was young - at least a few years younger than herself - but around the same height. Was he breathing? She didn't know. Cautiously, she placed her fingers underneath his nose. Coming in sporadic intervals, she felt his breath against her skin. He was struggling to, but he was indeed breathing.
"Hey, kid," she began as she searched for a good angle to help him up. "Brace yourself if you can. I'm gonna pick you up."
Squatting next to him, she carefully pried one of his arms from around himself and wrapped it around her shoulder. After she secured her other arm around his waist, she lifted herself from the bloody pavement around him, trying to catch all of his weight on her back to keep him steady. She angled her head to get a better look at his face and that's when she saw it. Parts of his lower face were missing! There was no skin, very little muscle, and the bone showed just as clearly as anything else. It was truly a horrific sight.
"D-don't worry, kiddo," Tonelica said as she moved forward with him. "I'll get you somewhere safe. Just hold on... you'll be fine."
Quickly searching her thoughts, she knew it'd be extremely risky to walk him to her place. Not only that, but she didn't have the technology at her disposal to help him. The nearest proper hospital was over thirty miles away and she'd be responsible for filling out his paperwork, which she wouldn't be able to do since she didn't even know his name. She could open her Continuum and leave him there, but she also knew she would want to know his status. With that one, she wasn't even sure if he could withstand going through the portal. Not everyone can handle it.
However, she could feel something was different with him. Taking a deep breath she cleared her mind, knowing exactly what path she was going to take. A swift motion with her hand and a portal opened. On the other side, a white hall showed and she stepped inside. Just as quickly as she went in, they were out and now standing in the sterile hall of the Anarchist's infirmary.
Someone rushed over to her, helping her with the young man's body.
"Who is this, Tonelica?" he asked in a panicked tone.
"I don't know, but I found him in the alley across from my place," she replied. "He needs urgent care!"
"He could be a government agent for all we know, Honeybee," snapped the man. "This could end badly."
"Just treat him, dammit," she hissed angrily. "I'll deal with him personally if it comes to that. For now, get him stabilized and breathing regularly."
