Personality
Goldendawn is the caring, compassionate, and almost maternal medicine cat of MeadowClan. She is gentle and kind, and very few cats can speak badly of her. She acts as a mother hen for her Clan and cares for them as she would her own family, though luckily for her most of the Clan isn’t as reckless or goofy as her littermates, whom she adores, but is always two pawsteps away from strangling for their antics. Regardless, she tends to speak with a soft voice and carries a calm demeanor, making refusing treatment, or saying no to her in general a very difficult task, something she takes advantage of. She is resourceful and diligent and understands that there is more to caring for her Clan as a medicine cat than simply healing up wounds, but also in tending to the minds of her Clanmates who may struggle to cope with the hardships of Clan life, and it is not uncommon for her to hold little therapy sessions with her clanmates, and many of them, and even many cats from the other Clans have come to view her as a close confidant, and a shoulder to lean on.
Backstory
Born to the deputy and a senior warrior, Goldenkit felt extreme pressure to follow her brothers on the path of a warrior, despite always knowing that her heart lie in the medicine den. To her relief the, just days before her apprentice ceremony, the medicine cat Beewing received an omen as the sun rose over the meadow, washing the entire camp in gold, an omen that Beewing took to mean that Goldenkit would take the Clan into her care as his next apprentice. Her family was supportive of this, and honored even, which inspired Goldenpaw to be the best medicine cat she could be.
She was a quick learner, and frequently impressed Beewing. It was clear that Goldenpaw was born for her role. However, as much as she loved healing, and as much as she loved unraveling the mysteries of StarClan, she regretted the growing rift she felt between herself and her brothers, and wished that she would have more time with them; she could tell that they were struggling, but the separate paths she and her littermates walked prevented her from being alongside them as they navigated their new lives.
This abrupt change was only worsened as leafbare approached. Not only were warriors hungry and cold, they were also vulnerable to sickness and herbs were scarce in the frosty weather. To top it off, it seemed as if war with PeakClan looked over the horizon, threatening every cat’s safety. Knowing this, Goldenpaw was relieved by her father and Petalstar’s attempts at pursuing peace, knowing that if cooler heads prevailed, her Clan could get through the harsh leafbare unharmed.
Her hopes of a peaceful season however, were dashed one day collecting herbs, when she had a vision of a blood red sky above the mountains, and a circle of falcons above, an omen she interpreted to mean that danger and war loomed amongst the rocks and snow in PeakClan’s territory, and she shared it privately with Beewing, who agreed with her assessment. This came to fruition when her brothers and senior warrio Falconheart returned to camp carrying the body of her father. Wracked with grief, she couldn’t help but feel that the falcons in her dream had had something to do with the ginger warrior, and though she expressed this fearfully to Petalstar, the leader seemed to take it to mean that her son could save the Clan from PeakClan’s onslaught, and so he was made deputy. Trusting Petalstar, Goldenpaw attempted to swallow her fears.
As her beloved Clan was thrown into vicious and bloody battles that cost them friends and family members, Goldenpaw tried to keep it together, supporting her mother between managing all the horrors of the war. As the fights dragged on, she realized that it wasn’t just her mother who seemed to be paralyzed by grief, panic, and shock in the wake of the traumatic conflicts tearing the Clan apart. She became determined to try and ease her Clanmates of even the suffering she could not see, by giving them the room to express their experiences, and attempting to treat those symptoms accordingly with support and suggestions. She continued to do so even after Falconheart was exposed as a traitor, and the battles with PeakClan ended.
This is what ultimately earned her her medicine cat name, Goldendawn, both for the omen that signaled her apprenticeship, but also for the beginning of a new expectation for all medicine cats, to treat their clanmates’ minds as well as their bodies. She has lived up to this expectation since and, now the sole medicine cat of MeadowClan, happily serves her Clan under her brother’s reign. She remains one of the biggest advocates for peace and cooperation amongst the Clans and has come to be highly respected across all borders.
