Intelligent: Professor Sycamore is a Pokémon Professor, meaning he has extensive knowledge about wide ranges of Pokémon. He specializes in Mega Evolutions, however, so much of his expertise lies in the Pokémon rumored to be capable of that.
Flirty: Sycamore will readily flirt with people he finds attractive. He is very much your stereotypical frenchman in this aspect. Many of his flirtations are in french.
Friendly: He is very quick to become friends with someone. In Pokémon X/Y, he became very fast friends with the protagonist and his or her friends.
Clumsy: Sycamore is a bit goofy and clumsy at times. He acts as if he's very suave and cool, but he isn't immune to tripping while roller blading, or falling off a Gogoat.
Encouraging: Augustine is a very encouraging Pokémon Professor, much like all the other professors. He does his best to give trainers the best possible opportunities, and makes sure to let them know that he believes in them as often as he can. He believes that, if someone is truly passionate about something, there is nothing they cannot do.

Garchomp (♀) is Augustine's only known Pokémon in the anime. She lives with him in his lab in Lumiose City. The professor hopes to someday solve the mystery of Mega Evolution with her help!
Additionally, while not officially owned by him, Sycamore is shown to battle with some of the starter Pokémon he gives out to trainers on occasion. If those Pokémon count as well, that means he also has Froakie, Fennekin, Chespin, Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur on hand, though they aren't technically his own.
