Review of Emerson, Lake & Palmer (self titled, 1970) (vinyl)

** first entry in "borrowed from Big Steve" who is my dad lol **

Band Background: Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) were a British 1970s prog rock group consisting of Keith Emerson (UNREAL keyboardist), Greg Lake (vocals, bass, guitars, production), and Carl Palmer (drums, percussion). They were incredibly successful, releasing 9 RIAA-Gold albums in the US, until their dissolution in 1979. This is their debut album.

Personal Takeaway: When I picked up this album in my dad's collection, he said "you're a piano player who likes Yes. you will like ELP" and he was right! Surprise! Listening to this is like if the prog rock supergiants did the score for Amadeus (1984).

Listen to this album if you: wished that a prog rock supergiant did the score for Amadeus (1984) Bonus! Listen if you will listen to an album all the way through for the pure experience of it. I cannot tell for the life of me when one song ends and one song begins. Listening to this on shuffle is a joke.

A-side Takeaway: god Emerson knows how to play every keyboarded instrument so well B-side Takeaway: oh sweet jesus "the three fates" i am only a mortal

Music is best on physical media, but try this album for a metaphorical spin on Spotify at this link.
