Man of the Blade

My name is Ri. Well, really it's Ilario, I'm half Italian, but I just prefer Ri if you don't mind. I'm a Soldier for BLU, though I'm not what most people expect from a Soldier. I really only fight with my sword you see.. But it's nice to meet you. -Following the honorablebluswordsman tag- Stationed at Upward

"Okay…" He purred, the sensation feeling nice on his scalp. Upon Ri stopping the sniper almost went to snatch his hand back, but instead shifted positions, now facing him for the most part.

His gaze was focused on the topic of interest, but before long traveled up; analyzing his hair and how easy it would be to make a simple braid. “I could do it for you, if you let me.” Binh took hold of a few strands between his fingers.

"Oh. Uh. Sure, if you want to. I like it when people braid my hair. It's been a while since someone has though." Ri pulled his hairband from his hair, the long stands fanning out behind him as he handed the Sniper the tie and turned his back to the man to give him complete access.

"I think the last person to do it was Anichka, which was.. quite a while ago. I haven't really heard from her in a while. I hope she's doing alright." He flicked a few strands that had escaped over his shoulders behind them before Binh got started, relaxing as he waited.

"Uh, Hello?" Ri poked his head in the large workshop, noting it's location now that he'd found it, like he was doing with every place in the new base. He was also curious to possibly meet some of his new teammates. "Anyone in here?"

In all honesty, it was rather nice being the only Engineer on BLU. The entire workshop was her own little realm, and to be quite honest, she spent most of her time in there; tinkering away and wasting time.   The looks up as the Soldier speaks, pushing the welding visor up out of her face. “A-ah, in here - y-you’re the new guy, r-roight?”

Ah, more bowing. The Engineer fumbled awkwardly with her hands before returning the gesture, though it was evident how unsure the action was.

   ”Y-yeah I’ve m-met him,” Sheila replies softly with a nod and her usual sheepish smile. “N-nice fella, I-I uh, g-guess you know him?”

She steps out from behind the work bench and peels the thick material of the gloves from her hand to offer it to shake. 

"N-name’s Sheila O’K-Kelly - wh-whot’s yours?"

"Ilario Akiyama De Vitis." He smiled a little, knowing that could be a bit of a mouthful. "I am of mixed blood, my father was Italian, but I was born and raised in Japan. Please, just call me Ri."

He gently shook her hand, but ducked his head to hide his slight blush when he remembered what she had asked. 

"And.. yes, I know Binh.. very well. We transferred here together." He replied, fiddling with his long ponytail.

There was a timidness to his response. “I was thinking on growing it out.. not too much, but, you know…” He shrugged one shoulder, eyelids shut. “I haven’t done this in awhile. So it feels a little strange.. and spiky. My sister wants me to anyway.”

"You wouldn’t mind, right?" His head turned toward Ri’s direction, though more of his vision was set on the opposite wall. "Buzzing my hair is more practical, but I want to experiment, maybe start combing."

"I like it." Ri smiled, reaching up and gently running his fingers over Binh's growing hair fondly. "Do what you want with it, I'll like it no matter what you do. I'm probably due for a trim through."

He pulled his long ponytail over his shoulder, fiddling with it. "Nothing drastic, just the ends. It's getting a little messy." He showed Binh the rough tips at then end and shrugged. "I want to braid it, but I'm not very good at it on my own. I think it would be more out of the way if I did though."

"I’ll get the high spots." He teased, wrapping his arm around Binh’s shoulder and pulling him closer, kissing his cheek. He liked doing small affectionate things like that and he hoped it would get Binh more used to such attentions. He let out a short breath.

"Is it...

"Hm. I suppose so. I was just hoping we'd meet a lot of new people by transferring. I guess my expectations were a little too high, but I shall give it time. I'm sure I will meet others soon enough." The Soldier tried not to seem too disappointed, instead just enjoying Binh's presence, nuzzling his hair.

"Your hair is getting longer. Are you planning on cutting it short like it was again or letting it grow?" He asked curiously. He rarely did much with his own hair save for the occasional trim, keeping it long. But from what he knew, Binh had been a part of a military environment before coming to Mann Co., so it would be reasonable to think he might be accustomed to keeping it short.

"I don’t see how wanting to spend time with you is unfair. You’re my partner. Besides, together we can make it go by more quickly and talk. You can tell me more about your family if you want." He sat down on the couch, smiling at Binh.

"I don’t mind the work. We...

"Is it just me, or does everyone seem rather... absent. I've seen them out on the field, but during ceasefire, everyone disappears... Maybe that's just me though. I do know people sometimes react badly after seeing me on the battlefield.. Do you think I'm being avoided? I've.. only really met a few of our teammates.."

"I don’t mind helping you. I like keeping busy and I won’t have anything to do this week, chore wise. Besides, I’ll get to spend time with you." Ri leaned over, kissing Binh’s head. "And I think you can agree we need to spend more time together."

"B.. But I can…"...

" I don't see how wanting to spend time with you is unfair. You're my partner. Besides, together we can make it go by more quickly and talk. You can tell me more about your family if you want." He sat down on the couch, smiling at Binh.

"I don't mind the work. We should all do our part, even if we did well on the field."

“I just saw on the bulletin. I’ve been out around base. You can find all sorts of interesting things in the scrub brush.” He smiled softly, walking over to Binh. “I heard you had bathroom duty, would you like help?”

"Oh. Be careful, I hear that the snakes here are dangerous," Binh furrowed his brow. There was a pause, opening his mouth slightly before swatting at Ri’s hand. "No, nonono. You’re MVP, enjoy it."

"I don't mind helping you. I like keeping busy and I won't have anything to do this week, chore wise. Besides, I'll get to spend time with you." Ri leaned over, kissing Binh's head. "And I think you can agree we need to spend more time together."

“Nothing.. where’ve you been?” He stretches, regarding Ri cooly. “They announced you as an MVP.”

"Aw, call me Birdy. Everyone does."

Adal laughed at him, drew his hand back and slid it into his pocket, “And this place is Hell. Don’t go thinkin’ this place is God’s given gift, because it’s not. But it’s better than some other places I’ve seen and been to. The people here are great. They’ll make a nice family while you’re gettin’ comfortable.” He offered Ri a shrug.

"I’m glad I’m not the new Soldier here anymore, though. I felt like I was gonna be the only one forever. I cannot tell you the immense amount of relief I feel.”

"Birdy." Ri smirked, but not in a cruel way, obviously a little amused. "Very well. And I supposed every base has its pros and cons. We.. I just thought it would be a good, new experience. The pay is better and I get the chance to talk to new people."

Ri shrugged, idly playing with his ponytail. "I will admit, I'm probably not what you'd expect out of a soldier, but I'm glad to meet someone from my own class as well."

Fun Fact for my newer followers: Ri is terrified of thunder. He's not really sure why, but vaguely remembers fire and bombs falling from the sky from when he was a small child.

"Hello, I uh, I heard you are the other BLU Soldier here at Upward, yes? I'm one of the new transfers, Ri. I thought I should introduce myself."

That’s right, he’d heard the announcement earlier when he was doing other things. A new soldier. It left him beaming to see someone just like him, a brother in arms! What a great feeling. He extended a hand to Ri with a warm, welcoming smile.

"S’pleasure meetin’ ya, Ri. My name is Adalaide."

"Adalaide. The pleasure is mine." Ri shook the man's hand, bowing his head respectfully. He hadn't really gotten to know many other Soldiers since he started working for BLU, but perhaps it was because he had such a different fighting style. Most Soldiers seemed to scoff at his use of his Melee weapon as his main one.

"I must admit, while it's quite the new experience, it's good to be here at Upward."
