“Must the gun incident come up so often?”
magonumberfive replied to your post “myst-ice: “ Kanetsugu. It seem’s my absence has not taught you...”
block that bitch
“What have I done to deserve this?”
myst-ice:
“ Kanetsugu. It seem’s my absence has not taught you anymore humility. ” She’s kidding .. probably. Hard to tell – her tone is always even. However;
A fluid movement; chucks a hard amethyst crystal right at him-!
“ Think fast-!! ”
“ACK--” He doesn’t stop the crystal or do anything particularly... psychic, but at least he does duck in time. There’s that.
" If he can come back, so can I – “
“LADY AYA YOU’RE BACK--”
@honorandchill
There was a chain around his throat. Iron and heavy and so close to being real he found himself at times rubbing his neck to get a feel of it. Shingen and Kenshin both holding leads that tightened to choke. “His” war with the dragon king’s forces what united them during a lull in their feud. A small mercy it was that outside of directing the flow of battle neither lord wanted anything to do with him and instead did so through their junior warlords. A small mercy, but the only one.
“They wanna use go-betweens that much? I’ll go.”
He brushed Hori’s indignation away with a signed, “It’s fine.” Hori scowled, but didn’t press the matter. His greatest breakthrough had been sometime after taking over Pugilis, when he’d found no trouble in reaching his voice. Nowadays he rarely talked and excused it with exhaustion. The last he could remember having such trouble speaking was when he was a child too small to work.
Meetings were held in the areas of camp used by either Illusio or Terrera soldiers. He arrived early for the one with Kenshin’s junior. Folding his legs on the ground, he waited.
Kanetsugu tried to rest his conscience by reminding himself that no harm was being done. True, it was a stressful position for the young Auroran man to be in, but harmful? Not inherently. And beyond that, it was for a greater good; it had finally created a proper alliance between Terrera and Illusio, united in their cause against the Dragon King, and surely Ransei would be all the better for it--
But every time he got within range of the southern warlord Kanetsugu knew it to be untrue. The feeling was so overwhelming that even he found it difficult to speak in his presence. When Kanetsugu had done nothing but encourage all of this, it’s hard not to feel a bit guilty.
And so he goes to meet with the Auroran warlord--he knows Hiro-no will already be waiting before he even arrives with how strong his feelings are--intent on trying to make things right.
“I--I should admit that I lied to you about the purpose of this meeting,” Barely a second after he’s sat down in the spot across from Hiro-no does he sheepishly admit to the truth. “I did not come on Lord Kenshin’s behalf; I wanted to speak to you...”

☾ – The walls do shake and the air is just as violent. Her psyche pricks as his conscious blares with his power just a little out of his control. He answers her question without words.
But she does not flinch or falter. Her smile is still there; her calm is placid and gentle as always. Kanetsugu needs to know she will be here as an anchor when things are out of hand. She can feel his guilt and confusion. Sorrow is in his words and in the waves of his energy.
What he did was for Illusio – cruel fate picked him to save their kingdom even if it meant … the death of her dear brother and his mentor.
And he will continue to be it’s savior and it’s leader.
For Illusio – for the covenant of true love and justice beyond all other things!
“ Kanetsugu .. enough. ” Her words are gentle but firm. He needs to be reminded of what control is. “ My duty comes before all things including my physical time in this world.. ”
Her eyes close – her voice trembles just beyond the suave honey tone.
“ You are warlord now. You will not crumble in my absence. You can’t. You won’t. Remember it is Illusio and the acts of Just Love you stand for. Not me … and not my brother. Should I perish both of those things will be your of your utmost importance. ”
“What if I no longer know what that is?!” His voice cracks and with it the room around him clatters like thunder. Admitting to it means he has broken the seal on his emotions, the thoughts he’s been trying to push away so desperately since his lord’s death. One by one the sliding screens around him crumple like paper to the sound of splintering wood as his control slips away.
“How can I stand in the name of honor when I do not know what that means? I--I thought we had always been doing the right thing, but every day I realize more and more that we were only doing what was right for ourselves!” How much of Illusio’s prosperity was built on the suffering of others? For every minute he spent as Warlord it seemed there was something new that had been hidden from him, that he’d never been told-- “How much injustice have I committed believing myself to be in the right?”
And his voice hitches and around them objects continue to shake and clatter until it feels as if he’s going to tear the whole castle apart if he isn’t stopped soon. “I have felt others suffering and dying--at my hands--! Lady Aya, how am I to stand in the name of righteousness any longer?”
myst-ice:
☾ – “ … ”
.. Ah, she sees it now. His discomfort and reason.
“ Of course. ” And she rests the bowl of…whatever cruel concoction she made into Ujikuni’s lap. “ I’ll be back. You better have finished the rest of that when I return. ”
Another glance at the wincing Ujikuni before she gets up and makes her way outside the temple. She can sense it … the growing despondency. Perhaps she shouldn’t have taken such a long rest after the death of her brother. Kanetsugu had a lot to bear and she was not there to assure him of his duties or his gifts.
“ Your Third Eye…your duties. ” Aya does not wait for him to speak up. Silks swirl around her when she turns to him. “ How have they been affecting each other? ”
“Please do not worry about me, Lady Aya!” He quickly (lies) insists. There are other things to discuss, more important things than his own well-being currently; he bows low, shoulders parallel to his hips and his voice is hoarse as he speaks.
“You must understand, I am not trying to dissuade you! I will support your choice but I cannot allow you to bear the consequences alone! I--I am the Warlord of Illusio now and what goes on here is my responsibility as well!
“A-And what’s more, if we--if Illusio were to lose you, my lady, the kingdom would suffer! There is enough conflict within our kingdom... a-ah--after Lord Kenshin--” After I killed him. The words stick in his throat. There is a visible tremor in his body now, the way his shoulders shake as he tries to keep himself in check, and with it comes the clamor of objects around them. Sliding screens in their frames, ornaments hung upon the walls and displayed along the hall now shuddering along with him as if everything within sight is feeling the same conflict. Leaving did not help. There are too many thoughts, too many emotions swirling around in his head that have been building and building until he has reached his breaking point here today with this awful fear he cannot shake.
There are people who were, are still on Lord Kenshin’s side just as there are those who are appalled by what he had done and never before has Kanetsugu been so uncertain of who he can trust, of what is right or wrong--and he wants to rely upon Lady Aya, but even her--he is terrified! It is his fault her brother is dead.
“Please--I cannot lose you too!”
myst-ice:
☾ – “ My dear Kanetsugu, you don’t doubt me do you? ” She doesn’t turn her head away from her work. A gentle grumble of their rather .. estranged guest comes when Aya insists he eats what she made for him. The son of their fallen ally had been taken into her hands for quite some time., she wondered when Kanny would confront her about it.
“ I understand your concerns, and I have them already in my thoughts. Illusio is of highest concerns, for my once brother and for you. ” And again Ujikuni shakes his head in an insistant ‘no’ when Aya offers a spoonful to his lips. “ A nation of honor and let’s not forget love and reflection. Kanetsugu … to allow the son of our ally to perish on our lands without intervention does not bode well for the covenant or for what that speaks for us. ”
“ Dragnor no longer has such burdens now that their king bears the crown. They with the highest power .. this young one here is now just a mere afterthought rather then a threat anymore. ”
And Ujikuni seems to sink deeper in the floor. Aya isn’t quite so soft with words .. infront of him.
“ I know he has debts to pay for treason in part and he will face them. Should he be taken away or should his father collect him then I will let him go without battle. But atleast I can save him from death until he pays his dues-”
“ Which is why you need to eat, dear-” And Aya steps on his foot, giving her a moment of opportunity to stuff a spoon into his mouth in which he nearly gags on. Finally Aya turns to look at Kanny with her still smile.
“ This is my work alone. I won’t have you nor the Kingdom take penitence for it. ”
“Of course, my lady...” He’s still wincing from her crushing poor Ujikuni’s toes--the woes of being an empath means you always know just how badly that must have hurt. Ouch. “I trust you, but we both know all of Ransei isn’t always so honorable... It isn’t--”
It’s horribly distracting, being in the same room as Ujikuni. Even though he doesn’t acknowledge them, Kanetsugu can still feel his presence. His emotions. The overwhelming fog of grief and anger washing off of him and onto Kanetsugu and flooding his mind.
“Can we please step outside?” He asks suddenly. This is too much. It’s been years since he lost control of his abilities--the last incident was his first day standing upon a battlefield and he swore no more would come after--but now everything is growing to be... too extreme. He’s struggling to cope with his own feelings, his very sense of right and wrong in the aftermath of his lord’s death and every emotion from every person surrounding him, their distrust and weariness and fear and hate are all bearing down on his shoulders--
He just needs a moment of silence.
@myst-ice
“Lady Aya...”
He hates this. He truly does. He doesn’t want to have to question Lady Aya, his mentor, but that’s the burden of the responsibility he now bears. He’s been left as warlord in Lord Kenshin’s place--which means it falls to him to see to it that Illusio is well taken care of. The choices she’s been making recently--Kanetsugu worries.
“I understand what you are doing, but... I fear it will come back to hurt Illusio. Of course helping our allies is important... however, I worry about the fate of our kingdom as a result. Dragnor does already have their share of problems with us.”
myst-ice:
☾ – “ Kanny ..! ” A welcomed sight! Goodness Illusio has been put into poor sight. People turn away whenever she walks past but not her dear Kanetsugu ..!
“ I’m so sorry I left you alone for so long. ” She hopes he understands. No one would understand why she would mourn her brothers death after what he’s done. The only thing she had to do was go elsewhere in private.
“ But I promise I’m here to stay for you ..! For Illusion ..! ” And for her brother.
“You’ve nothing to apologize for, my lady!” If anything, he should be the one apologizing. It’s his fault her brother is gone, after all. And for all he did, Lord Kenshin had still been his mentor; it wasn’t so easy to accept he had deserved what had come to him.
“I simply hope I’ve done my service for Illusio well in your absence...!”
“Lady Aya, welcome home!” | @myst-ice
@honorandchill
This he could do without jamming his foot squarely in his mouth. He had already had some interaction with Illusio’s junior warlord. Sometimes even as a team, on the few occasions overtures of treaties had been sounded out by the two kingdoms. Now that they had a third party controlling the two armies peace talks might even go somewhere.
Just don’t go mocking him like you did Lady Hiroko.
Thank you, Lord Shingen, for being a steady font of wisdom.
“Kanetsugu, right? It’s good we’ll get the chance to work together for once.”
“Yes. And you are Lord Yukimura, correct? I’m honored to have a chance to fight alongside you!”
Even in their brief dealings, Kanetsugu had already come to like the other’s presence. What was more, rumors of the Terreran warrior’s talents had certainly reached ears within Illusio’s camps; this was a learning opportunity for the both of them.
‘ That’s good, dear. ’ She would expect nothing less of Kanetsugu. He was next to her Lord Kenshin to uphold mental strength as his top priority.
‘ I would expect nothing less of you. I just get concerned considering your recent responsibilities.’ Drop the weight of a whole kingdom on someone who was technically still apprenticing-! Stress, anxiety, and even the threat of migraines or headaches was detrimental to mental health. The mind of a psychic was their greatest weapon.
‘ Remember to take at least take ten minute breaks every four hours with meditation. I’m sure you can handle business, but is anything or anyone else bothering you? Because if something is-’ In which her mental verbatim turns angry all of a sudden.
‘ -I’ll gladly take care of the problem. ’
@honorandchill - momtwo would literally kill for you
“No! No--I assure you, everything is perfectly fine!” As fine as it could be, anyway. Being warlord was a stressful business, of course, and only moreso with how suddenly things had happened. Sure, it would be nice if he had more assistance in all of this... or didn’t draw the ire of the greater portion of Ransei who was (rightfully!) upset over what Lord Kenshin had done...
No, no, he mustn’t worry about “what ifs” and “it would be nice”--he said he is fine, and he is fine!
“Please--I appreciate the offer, but I am perfectly fine. There is nothing so pressing that I cannot handle it on my own, and absolutely nobody creating any trouble for me.”
And here's giant psychic cat here to check on one of her favorite psychics. She leans in to investigate while her conscious gently brushes his in greeting and chuffs through her nostrils; tail flicking behind her. ' You've been practicing I hope? Emotional control in check? How about mental capacity? '
“Of course!” He responds to the query aloud, proudly pumping a fist against his chest. In spite of everything, he always aspires to keep his mind in prime shape, the way another warrior would their body or blade. “I would never neglect my training--is it not my duty as a psychic to maintain my skill to its utmost potential?”
honorandchill:
He can feel the burn of gunpowder, of hot lead against his forehead, and he winces–but nothing more. All of his focus, all of his energy goes into that one, tiny bullet; negating its momentum.
But despite the sting of a burn on his forehead and the ringing in his ears so strong it makes him dizzy, he’s unharmed. The charm slips from his hand. He steps - really, stumbles - back and the bullet falls to the ground from where it sat between his skin and the barrel of the gun.
He did it. There’s a gleam in his eyes as he opens them again, a smirk of pride on his face in knowing that he survived.
“I will not stand down to the likes of you!”
“Oh what the fuck.”
This was bullshit. This was some God damn bullshit! Who stops a fucking bullet with their God damn brain?!
Magoichi takes a minute to look between the discarded shell, the psychic, and back at the shell. In any other situation, he would have been thoroughly impressed. Hell, Kanetsugu would be in the running of coolest guy he’s ever met.
But today was special.
So instead, despite the still hot metal of the gun, Magoichi flips the weapon in his hand and slams it across the man’s skull.
“Block that, bitch.”
telempathik:
I would kill everyone and then myself before that happens-
“BUT WHAT IF IT HAPPENS??”
“Please don’t vote me out of Ransei next!”
