"Ooh, I love it when you talk dirty." - Mulan & Meg
"You ainât seen nothing yet," she smirked, raising a brow at her roommate. Meg was sure that Mulan was just being sarcastic, but it was about to put a damper on her good mood.

"Ooh, I love it when you talk dirty." - Mulan & Meg
"You ainât seen nothing yet," she smirked, raising a brow at her roommate. Meg was sure that Mulan was just being sarcastic, but it was about to put a damper on her good mood.
âI wasnât aware that robots got jealous. Did they update your software while I was away?â âIâm surprised you didnât shoot me yourself.â (Mulan/Meg!)
"I wasn't aware that robots got jealous. Did they update your software while I was away?"
"Iâm not even jealous! I just think that he treats you like shit and you deserve better." She didnât even think to comment on the insult Meg gave her, too concerned with the fact that her roommates was about to get into a sticky situation again. No, she definitely wasnât about to tell the other girl that she was jealous, because that wasnât the case at all. Maybe jealous that this idiot got more attention from her than Mulan ever did, but not jealous about him. That would be a "Hell no."
"I'm surprised you didn't shoot me yourself."Â
"Of course I wouldnât shoot you. I would have used a sword instead." It was the truth though, even if she said it as a joke. Ever since they had that huge argument that eventually led to a heart to heart, Mulan found it difficult to stay completely angry with her new roommate. They were just the victims of some hard times, but they were strong and getting through it the best way they could. And that was the important thing.
The New Roommate
Meg snorted at the comment. That was certainly an understatement. The fact that she even looked hopeless in the first place made her skin crawl. The last thing she wanted was someone to think she was some damsel in distress just because she was a new girl on campus. She much preferred to make a name for herself on something other than the fact that she couldnât figure out where she was going to live for the year.Â
Turning to follow where Mulan was pointing, she shrugged. Why couldnât there have been more people with name tags when she had first walked onto campus? Having a couple of them near the parking lots and main entrances would have been so much more helpful than for her to have wandered onto campus to whatever quad they were on looking lost.Â
Trailing behind Mulan with her luggage in tow, she was sure the disgruntled face she was making would make her seem less than friendly to whoever they were asking for help.Â
The woman Mulan went up to turned and grinned at the two of them. âOf course! You two must be incoming freshman, right? Grove dormitory is on quad B, so youâre in the right place, but itâs on on the side of it. Canât miss it. Theyâll be a ton of other freshman and itâs the only dormitory in that section.â
"Well thanksâŠ" Meg muttered, walking away from the woman and only glancing back to see if Mulan was coming along. "Guess we have some walking to do⊠Better get to it. You coming?"
At least the girl wasn't hopelessly optimistic. That would have annoyed Mulan slightly, as she was not used to people being too cheery and peppy all the time. It would give her a major headache, and the fact that Meg seemed to be the opposite of that was enough to make her alright in Mulan's book. But still, maybe she was too tough on herself, which would help to keep people out rather than bring them in. She knew what that was like though, as she did the same thing to everyone in her life but her family.
Maybe being here would be different though.
It was a good thing that the woman she found was somewhat helpful for once, as she did not plan on spending her remaining orientation day walking around campus aimlessly with all of her belongings. It just didn't make sense that there weren't more maps or people directing newcomers on where to go. It wasn't like everyone knew where everything was on their first day on campus, so why would they assume that? It already made her frustrated and she didn't want to get any more irritated than she already was.
So they were in the general area of where they needed to be, but they were on the opposite of where the building was? The woman couldn't find it in her right mind to at least walk them to the place? It wasn't like she was doing anything particularly important. She muttered a thanks as well and turned towards the direction the woman gave them.
"Yeah seems like it. At least we're in the right quad?"
11 for Mulan/Meg (I chose randomly so :| )

It was strange not getting in each otherâs faces like usual. Most of the time, they were bickering about the different guests that Meg would bring into their dorm or the fact that Mulan studied too late and left the light on. It was finally nice to see them actually getting along, and Mulan kind of liked it. it was a slow night, no homework due for the next week or so and nothing to study for. So, they decided to actually go and have a girlâs night out, just the two of them.
But of course, they had to get ready first.
They pre-gamed for a bit, having a couple of weak drinks and and playing some party music in their room. It was going to be great, and Mulan was finally letting loose. âCome on! Dance with me!â The exclamation came from Meg, and before Mulan could object the two were dancing and twirling around the room, laughing as if there were no tomorrow. And the smile on Mulanâs face was a real one, one that hadnât graced her face in quite a long time.

The New Roommate
"Fantastic," she muttered, turning to look around as she rolled her eyes. Out of all the people to go ask for help from, it was someone who also didnât know where they were going. And while it was nice that they were heading to the same place, the rules still applied: she didnât want to become buddy-buddy with just about anyone. What she really wanted was to find someone help her take her mind off of her douchebag of an ex. Thank god she hadnât run into him yet.Â
Meg had to think this definitely counted as a strike against the school. She had to agree with the stranger she had approached, there should have been someone directing them to where they were supposed to go. Wasnât that the whole point of being a freshman? You had people look after you at least on the first day before leaving them to fend for themselves? Yup, definitely a strike against this already awful place.Â
"What?" she replied, turning back to look at the other girl. It was then that she realized she had introduced herself. "Oh, hey," Meg said, half a smile forcing its way onto her face. "Megara, but my friends call me Meg. Nice to meetcha⊠Mulan was it? Interesting name. Donât hear that too oftenâŠ" Of course as she was saying that, she couldnât help but think that they must look like a couple of losers standing around with all their things like this. "Look, Mulan, how about we go find someone who actually knows where weâre living before people start to think weâre some kind of hobo setting up camp here, yeah?"Â
Of course she wasn't being helpful at all, but that wasn't necessarily her fault. They were both in the same boat, and it was more than likely that they would have ran into someone new to the school as well rather than someone who already knew where they were going. It was orientation day after all, and the campus was filled with people who were beginning a new chapter in their life. And if this college's first introduction into the real world was to make it almost impossible to ask for directions, then they were doing a hell of a good job.
Which wasn't necessarily a good thing.
She nodded at Meg's response. It was a nice nickname, and her full name was beautiful as well. It was definitely one she hadn't heard before, and would be sure to remember it while she was here. But they weren't friends, so she would probably be sure to call her Megara until the situation changed. There was something about her though that was interesting, something that she couldn't quite place. It also looked like she was searching for something other than their dorm.
"I think you're right. It beats standing out here in the middle of campus looking like we're hopeless."
She began to look around again, trying to spot anything that would give her a hint. She almost gave up again until she saw what looked like someone wearing a name tag. She pointed to the woman in a polo shirt. "I think she could help," she muttered before making her way over to her.
"Do you think you could help us find Grove dormitory, please?"
The New Roommate
Starting her freshman year of college was not high on her priority list. If Meg was being honest, she wasnât even sure she cared about going to college. Sure, she thought she was smart enough and definitely more than capable of doing it, but now she was stuck at a college she did not want to be in. It would have been a funny story as to why she didnât want to be at the college she was stuck at, but the last thing Meg thought was that this whole situation had been funny. Really, the whole situation made her damn angry.
When she had accepted her offer to go to this particular college, she had done so because her and her then boyfriend were going to go together. They were going to have amazing college adventures together and after their first year, get an apartment off campus together. For Meg, that sounded rather perfect, and it would have been if she hadnât found that bastard of a boyfriend cheating on her the day before moving into their freshman dormitories. Her perfect reality was shattered in a single moment and now she was stuck on a campus with her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend all the while being only a floor away from him. Fucking perfect.
Bags in tow as she stepped onto campus, by herself no less (her parents were deadbeats and definitely werenât about to see their daughter off), she realized she hadnât really figured out where her dorm was, just what it was called and what her room was. âDammit,â she muttered, quickly looking around to see if she could spot anyone else that seemed approachable but not sociable. While she did need help, she didnât feel like suddenly becoming BFF with some random person because they were homesick. Glancing around once more, Meg spotted another woman that seemed to be looking around. Deciding to take a chance on this chick, she strolled on over to her.
âHey. Do you know where Grove dormitory is? I forgot to look up where it is before I arrived.â
As if fate answered her prayers, a girl came up to her. Unfortunately for the both of them, they were both asking for directions, to the same dormitory, no less. Interesting. "I actually don't, but it sounds like we're in the same dorm. I think there's supposed to be some people here to help us out, but I just don't see them."
She looked around again, trying to see if she could spot anyone that seemed to be in a position of authority, one that could show these two lost girls were to go in order to get some rest. She sighed, not seeing anyone immediately come to mind. Instead, she looked back at the girl who came up to her, noticing that she too was alone and had to carry her bags on her own. Normally, Mulan wasn't the nosy type, nor the one to ask someone about their life story on the first few minutes that they met, but she was curious. The more Mulan looked at the girl, the more it seemed like she didn't even want to be here.
She took the easier approach and instead introduced herself, something that would seem more normal than asking why she was alone. "Hi. I'm Mulan."
The New Roommate
Orientation day, move in day, it was the same thing. It was the first day of the rest of her college career, and Mulan was nervous. She had gotten into this school on a full ride scholarship, and she knew how much was dependent on her. She didn't want to think about it, but she knew that there was no way she could allow herself to slack off, or her grades to fall below anything lower than an A. Even a B wouldn't be enough for her, and she had to be hard on herself no matter what it took. For her father.
She had everything that she needed to bring with her in two duffel bags. She didn't waste time bringing anything that wasn't going to be of use to her, even if it meant leaving some of her possessions at home with her family. She did however bring her favorite comb, the one her father gave to her when she turned sixteen. She would wear it on special occasions, ensuring that it wouldn't get damaged or stolen while she was away. She kept it in a special container that would stay next to her bed and whenever she thought about going home, she would look at it and remember why she was thousands of miles away from home. It would be that comb that would keep her going, that would motivate her to excel in school.
Her mind wandered for a moment as she looked at her surroundings. This university was so much bigger than her high school - as she assumed it would be. But seeing it in pictures and being there in person were two completely different things. It would be so easy to get lost in between classes, the buildings looking exactly alike. She looked around again, realizing that she had no idea where her dorm was or how to get there. If only she had a map of the school. If only there was someone kind enough to show her the way.
Oh well. She would get there eventually, even if it meant asking for directions.
