"Still operating under the shoot first, ask later mentality?"
Barbara didn't kill. It was Bruce's code, but she also believed in it. With that being said, she also understood why Jason did. The two of them had a tragic bond that the others couldn't understand. He had gone from being a kid brother of sorts to one of the few people who understood what it was like to have your very being ripped apart by the Joker. Her body, her autonomy — everything had changed. It was more than three years later and she still woke up in a cold sweat at times. She had been shot, but Jason had been killed. The pain went deep. It was just hard to talk about.
The gravel crunched under the heels of her boots as they walked. There was no current need for stealth, but the sound still put her on edge. Ever since she had gone back on the field, it felt like everything was buzzing around her.
"It's been a while since we've done this, hasn't it?"
"Only when the situation calls for it." it wasn't like he was itching to start a fight right now, but it wasn't exactly unusual to run into a crime in progress this late--even when he was trying to mind his business.
At the comment, Jason tried to think of the last time he hung out with barbara, realizing he was hard pressed to come up with more than a handful of memories between now and when he was working alongside bruce. It seemed like a decade had passed since then and it had only been six years. ( six years since the last time he put on the robin suit and died in it. ) "Yeah, I guess so." he agreed. "So, how are things with you lately?" he asked, steering the conversation elsewhere.
