you a fed? worse. justice league.
Happy Birthday @tbcanary!!
"Listen here, love. I'm off the clock until this bottle is empty, so either wait your turn or sod off." He muttered before lifting the bottle of whisky back up to his lips for only one last drop to grace them. "Alright, talk." John muttered with a grumble.
Knocking back her beer, Dinah just snorted into the bottle. Constantine was a character, but he was useful. Zee seemed to like him, and that was saying something. "Take your time," she inclined her head towards him, the blonde strands of her wig brushing against the bar top. "We're gonna skip the pleasantries, huh? Fine. What are you doing in Star City? If there's something demonic going on, I need to know."
"You're not suited to lurk in the shadows." His voice was came out smooth and stern, as he requested - practically commanded - the figure to step forward.
"The spotlight does call to me, but I can be subtle when needed. It just seemed a little silly to try to sneak up on the Batman on his own turf."
"Listen. I don't know what you think, I think, you think I saw, but you're wrong. Or am I wrong? One of us is wrong and it's probably not me."
"You're the one on the floor, and I'm the one still standing. That in itself makes it seem like I'm right." Dinah panted, one hand wiping some of the sweat from her brow. "Go again?"
Raven had finally found a moment to clear her head. Choosing a quiet spot on the floor in the tower, she sat with her eyes closed and her legs criss-crossed. she was was drifting in the blissful quiet of her meditation, floating a few inches off the ground when she heard a noise--maybe it was a crunch of a wrapper or a pop of a plastic bottle. Raven cracked one eye at her company. "Got enough to share?"
"Here, be my guest." Dinah offered up half of what she had. "Figured I should get some nutrients before I ran the next training session."
"hey, you haven't by any chance seen a fluffy white dog anywhere, have you?" because why wouldn't he have to chase down the worlds most powerful dog while also trying to keep metropolis from being trampled by a giant kaiju? must be tuesday.
"Was that what it was? It looked more like a white blur with a red cape."
"we should probably head back before it gets any later. I don't mind, I'm just saying the statistical chances of me shooting somebody increases with every passing minute." this was gotham and not that any of the local criminals needed encouragement from the sun going down to try their hand at armed robbery, it certainly made them feel invited.
"It should go without saying that I'd prefer you to not shoot anyone while we're together." The chill of the night cut through the fishnets that Dinah wore, but she was accustomed to it at this point. "Are you really so trigger happy that you can't help yourself?"
"Please, let's leave all this Wayne Enterprises talk for another day. I'm here on pleasure, not business." Bruce responded, his tone and expression care free as his eyes scanned the environment. Always alert.
"Nothing would make me happier." Dinah was technically there as Oliver's date — aka the eye candy on the billionaire's arm. It was all an act, a facade carefully put in place to allow her the opportunity to do some light recon while they mingled. "Does pleasure for you include a glass of champagne? I heard they have the good stuff."
"I'll have to take your word for it." J'onn responded skeptically, as he fought any temptation to search deeper in them for the truth.
"I've got a good poker face, but I promise that I'm telling the truth. Scouts honor and all." Dinah held up a hand. "Of course, I have to swear you to secrecy now."
"You need to water your pothos--I don't even need to be me to hear her screaming on her little shelf over there. you know the drooping is a cry for help, right?"
Dinah wanted to retort that she knew a thing or two about watering a plant — she was a goddamn florist, for chrissakes — but the pothos did look a little droopy. "Damnit. It just came in and all it wants to do is die. Looks like it's going to need around the clock care. But yes, I do know drooping isn't good for plants. That's my job."
"hey, you're talking to the right guy here. now how fast are we thinkin' about, do you want an eagle? pronghorn? cheetah?" he wasn't sure where he was going, but he was always up for the adventure. "and uh, what's the plan here exactly?"
"There's a level of irony behind a bird that I could get behind." She was — after all — the Black Canary. "But do whatever's comfortable. It's just a basic perimeter check. There's been a high concentration of crime in the area recently."
"Oh don't you worry about me, Tweety. I'm just getting warmed up."
"I hate to break it to you, hot shot, but if you need a warm-up to walk, you may be getting old."
"You can come if you can keep up. We've got a lot of ground to cover."
