Throughout the land of Asturias, the name of la Guaxa is spoken in hushed whispers.

This vampiric figure is often described by those who have seen her as a crone or an owl with a single tooth. She will enter your bedroom night after night, fitting through even the smallest of gaps, to slowly consume your blood. When you become too weak to fight back, she will finally take you away, never to be seen again.

Copper rot (Xylaria electrophaga) is a newly described fungus that, through yet unknown means, appears to obtain energy directly from electricity.

The adaptation, believed to have recently evolved from a wood-boring mushroom that fed on utility poles, lets this species enter cables through exposed metal, then grow outwards. This not only damages infrastructure, but often ends in a fire, which it uses to disperse its spores further. If encountering copper rot, it is not advised to touch it, as its white tips can conduct enough energy to cause electrocutions.
