His horse rears and dances in the box before letting loose after the steer

I can just see him holding the rope between his teeth as his fierce eyes are focused

John

Bronc rider

Takes a certain level of flashy to smile like he does on the back of bucking horse

Grinning the entire time, even when he dismounts into the dirt

Jacob

Multi sport, bull riding and cutting

As a bull rider, he is serious, only riding the biggest and most raunchy

He partners with Faith for team cutting, adding his big voice to keep the cows from passing him and his unit of a gelding

Faith

Also multi sport, barrel racing and cutting

Her mare is tight around barrels and Faith praises her on every turn

She does team cutting with Jacob as well as solo cutting on the mother of her barrel horse

Bonus: The Deputy

Barrel races and tie down

Faith is their greatest rival, always has a time just a smidge above or below hers

Tie down brings her close to Joseph (roping) and they trade technique advice

We are discussing classical conditioning in my psych class and I'm FOAMING at the mouth. All I can think about is big ol Jacob. Would that mean the word conditioning is the conditioned stimulus for me? Lol

Replaying Far Cry 5 and realizing that both Jacob and John are singing songs by The Inkspots 50s Big Bands, "Only You" and "We'll Meet Again".

So I got to thinking: what songs by this type of group would Joseph and Faith be associated with?

I think, for Joseph, it would be either "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire" or "It's All Over but the Crying". For the first one, I feel this fits because, as the Father, he feels great love (romantically and/or platonically) for others. It also ties into desiring peace. For the second song, I think it speaks for itself. Also a love song, I think he weeps for those who are, inevitably, going to lose their lives to the Collapse.

When it comes to Faith, I think the song that most likely would be hers would be "Into Each Life Some Rain must Fall". It sounds somewhat upbeat while having sad/melancholy lyrics, which I feel fits her perfectly. Faith is appears warm and peaceful, but we all know there is darkness, sadness, and fear within her. I could just see her humming this tune in the Convent, walking along the balcony with pale tears on her face and a small smile her lips.

i think a lot of the misunderstanding of joseph and faith’s relationship and the fact that it’s been confirmed to have been sexual in nature (at the very least to have coerced her into the cult if not to repetitively subdue her once she joined) comes from a grave misunderstanding of how cult leaders realistically operate in the real world.

while a lot of people will admit that cult leaders are infamous for the sexual exploitation of their congregation, it seems too few people want to acknowledge the direct correlation between joseph and his most obvious real world counterpart david koresh, who infamously sexually exploited women and children in his congregation and even took an underage girl to wife.

i think regardless of your “interpretation” of joseph and his doctrines, it’s important to acknowledge the fact that cult leader often impose their beliefs on their people and explicitly recuse themselves of partaking in those beliefs, so to say joseph would be going against his own teachings is not silly but completely misses the point: cult leaders are not well meaning individuals who are true to their word, and oftentimes use their doctrines to control individuals while absolving themselves of their own accountability.

He has consumed my mind and im not mad about it

I've been doing a lot of research into cults for my next book. It's about an island community, a scientist who lives there, and a health/enlightenment cult that threatens the way of life there.

During my research, I've found similarities between Eden's Gate activities and mentalities and cults that have existed in real history. It's interesting to see where the creators of the game likely got their inspiration. The True Russian Orthodox Church did the doomsday bunker thing. Only they dug out a cave, and it really didn't go well. The group in Uganda that called for the reinstitution of the 10 Commandments also built massive arks that served as bunkers for the end times, also did NOT go well. One group, the Children of God, had a group of subleaders under the primary leader called the Chain, kind of like Jacob, John, and Faith. The leader of that cult even had a daughter named Faith.

If you like cult stuff, you should listen to the podcast called Cults. It has really been fascinating.
