You know, I really loved X-Men: First Class when I was a kid. And the same director shot Kingsman. I just watched a few scenes from it and realized how similar the training conditions for mutants and recruits are. Everything from music to landscapes seems so similar.

Both villains are eccentric billionaires with global plans, which is not so surprising. And then there's a guy who believes in the potential of outsiders and goes against the system. Oh yes, they both end up with terrible injuries, albeit with different results. In short, it's just cool.

Eggsy: I owe you everything, Harry. Thank you. Harry: Don't mention it… But since you mention it, Ginger wants to try to transplant my new eye. Eggsy: Wow! That's cool! Harry: And you could be a my donor. Eggsy: What? Harry: See you at the clinic on Monday, Eggsy! Don't be late. Eggsy: Wait, what????

You know, I'm thinking about Eggsy and Harry's relationship at TGC and what they said to each other in the bathroom.

I think it's quite interesting that Eggsy apologized right after the fight, but Harry didn't do it even after his protege restored his memory. I would complain about Harry's arrogance. On the other hand, he is able to admit that the other person is right, as can be seen, for example, in the bar scene when he tells Eggsy that his words about snobs are true, and then apologizes for starting a fight in front of him.

And I also think that maybe his attempts to take care of the young man, to ask what kind of phone call it was that upset him so much, are attempts to say: I was wrong, and I should have been more caring. And I relate their conversation on the plane to the same place. In the first film, it was important for him to give Eggsy a status, a place in the world, but here he finally thinks about how important it is for Eggsy to feel understood and accepted.

Perhaps I just want to emphasize once again that Eggsy's social intelligence surpasses Harry's social intelligence.

Merlin: Harry, why do you always run out of ammunition after every visit to the bar? Harry: People can be impolite. I'm just giving them a lesson in manners. Merlin: Maybe you shouldn't go to bars where muggers and drunks hang out? Harry: But they're eager to learn!

Thoughts on Harry’s expression in the ending scene.

(FYI: I post this because I want to reply to @classicchanteuse in my old post(what I got from watching KTGC for 3 times), but it’s too long so I decide to write a new one.)

For me I don’t think Harry wants or expects anything from Eggsy but his happiness. Seeing Eggsy being married maybe it reminds him of himself, who never been in love, never did things he wanted because of Kingsman rules. On the way to Cambodia(Poppy’s Land) Harry told Eggsy about his thought when he was shot that he had nothing left behind, if you notice his eye, he said he felt regret and he really did. He devoted himself to be the best Kingsman agent that he didn’t have a chance to live his life or achieve his dream(to be the lepidopterist) and after everything that happened, including his home and Kingsman HQ were destroyed, Merlin’s death and Eggsy’s wedding.

Harry Hart lost EVERYTHING.

He doesn’t have family, friend, partner, home, his butterflies collection. Not only he’s losing everything(I don’t count ‘Mr. Pickle Jr’ and Tequila), but he has to live with the memory of killing innocent people, everybody inside that church(in TSS), by his own hands without being able to control his own body.

Please remember that Harry Hart is a very soft hearted person, judging from how he was traumatized from shooting Mr. Pickle for his final test to the point that he had him stuffed at home(“Mr. Pickle reminds of that every time I take a shit”), he took care of Eggsy at first it’s because he blamed himself for his father’s death(“Can’t you see that everything I’ve done has been about trying to repay him?” - to Eggsy, in TSS / “Our journey began from the mistake that I made.” to Merlin, in TGC) and the pre-Kingsman-Harry Hart, the sweet innocent boy who told Eggsy to shoot him instead of a puppy.

The world is at peace(again), Tequila is cured, Ginger has become Whiskey, Eggsy is happy to live his life with the person he loves and we see his mom in the wedding, alive and well. Everybody gets what they want EXCEPT HARRY. He thought he’s dead, then he’s back, but everybody left him. He’s basically the only person who is going to live with suffering.

He’s good at hiding his soft spot, but his expression was shown like that because the writers wanted to show us his pain. The only one who suffered while everybody smiles, laughs, claps and celebrates. The only one who always in pain throughout this sequel, even when he hadn’t gotten his memory back, he had been tested so many times.

You know sometime people who survived wars had suffered more than people who died, in this case, it’s Harry.

Harry and Chester King's relationship is very interesting. They have different views on Kingsman selection, but at the same time, in the deleted scenes, the two of them watch the recruits go through the trials. Harry is also apparently the only agent who comes to the office in person rather than using a hologram.

You know, I like the theory that Chester was Harry's mentor when he was younger. This explains the special status of the latter. They have a very close mentor-student relationship, unlike other agents.

This may also explain why Chester forgives Harry so easily for being late and rude to him (when he calls him a snob).

And based on that theory, I understand why Harry didn't realize that Chester was a traitor.

I mean, he noticed the potential of Lee and Eggsy, and he was very successful when it came to agent Whiskey, and it's hard to accuse him of shortsightedness.

In the TGC, he says he misses his mother and the butterfly collection, but not a word about his father. Perhaps he died when Harry was very young, perhaps he was just a man unworthy of mention. I mean, Chester could be like a father figure to him. And for Harry, this was an important person in his life.

Harry doesn't agree with his views, but he also shows him respect, even when he calls him a snob. Ot chastises Eggsy when he steals Arthur's car. thus humiliating Harry. He's ready to accept Chester with his flaws. Yes, Chester is very narrow-minded and arrogant, yes, he is definitely a terrible snob, but he and Harry are bound by many years of duty in the status of mentor and student. And he doesn't notice the scar on his neck or the specifics of his behavior, because it's too hard to believe that the person you cherish in  own way might turn out to be a traitor.

And imagine how hard it was for him to hear Eggsy and Merlin tell him that Chester had gone over to Valentine's side. For example, before that, his level of trust in people was hardly particularly high. Perhaps this also played a role in Harry's suspicion of Statesmen.

Merlin is in the eyes of Eggsy and Harry when something terrible happens. Eggsy and Harry are in Merlin's eyes when something terrible happens.

Maybe I'm being a little cynical, but I hope Eggsy never blamed himself for Merlin's death too much.

Perhaps he was careless with the mine detector, perhaps the equipment was out of order. He was scared when he felt a landmine under his foot, and I suppose he had no idea that Merlin wanted to sacrifice himself. I think Eggsy would assume that Merlin has some kind of rescue plan. After all, he hadn't brought a can of freezer with him for nothing.

I just want to say that if Eggsy had known how this would end, he would never have left the mine and probably would have blown himself up.

I have a couple of similar thoughts about Harry and Lee Unwin. Harry's mistake was much more gross, but he also had much less time to come up with something. And he was the first one who rushed to hide the grenade, and probably would have died if Lee hadn't pushed him away and sacrificed himself. I think Eggsy would have done exactly what Harry did.

I once read a post in which the author asked to distinguish between the concepts of "Harry is partly responsible for Lee's death" and "Harry killed Lee." And I think that's a fair point. And probably the same applies to Eggsy.

Have you ever wondered why Valentine killed Harry? I mean, you have a super-assassin under your command, and you personally have an aversion to blood. So why not entrust your assistant with this dirty business? Gazelle didn't seem to let him down before, so I don't understand why he decided to take matters into his own hands. And I also think Valentine might even have had the idea of suggesting that Harry become the chosen one and put an implant in his neck? Or he talked to Chester King about it and he just said, "No, no, this guy won't do that, get that shit out of your head, buddy!"

Imagine how Eggsy is having difficulty understanding the complex technical terms that Merlin is showering on him when explaining how the new gadget works.

And Merlin asks if he's a humanitarian by any chance. Because if that's the case, then he'll stop thinking Eggsy is a smart person.

And Eggsy will say that he's a humanitarian, although he's also always been good at math. And in general, besides the world of numbers, there is a world of people, feelings and stories.

And of course, they will have a serious argument about who is more important than humanities and techies.

And Merlin will say that techies make a much greater contribution to exploring the world and maintaining order in it. And Eggsy will argue that the humanities contribute to the development of communication skills, creativity and empathy much more than a simple set of numbers.

And Harry will understand that Eggsy and Merlin are both right. And anyway, this argument doesn't make sense. But as an unsuccessful lepidopterist, he will consider that the best are natural scientists.

I read the fic in which Harry rapes Eggsy. Merlin found out about this and kicked Harry out of Kingsman in disgrace, forbidding him to even appear in London. Not that I'm a fan of Harry as a rapist, but I'm glad he got what he deserved.

I read the fic in which Eggsy has sex with Harry while he is in a coma. They have a mentor-protégé relationship, no love, although it's not that important. Merlin found out about this and made it clear that it was good because the boy was overexcited, and finally defused the tension.

I think that in order to enjoy someone's work, sometimes you have to put aside the moralizing, but... To be honest, I think sexual contact with someone who can't give consent is bad.

You know, I love Merlin's reaction on TGC to Eggsy putting a tracker in Clara's vagina. He is so confused and nervous that it becomes clear that this is not normal for Kingsman.

Not that Kingsman is particularly moralistic, but still.

Considering the fact that Taron is about two or three years older than Eggsy, I like to use this expression in relation to the rest of the characters. I also liked to think earlier that Harry was born in 1964. But only because The Sun newspaper was founded at that time. This explains why Harry uses this particular tabloid to reflect his successes. The problem is that if Harry's first mission took place in 1981, then he was accepted into Kingsman at least at the age of 16. Even for Harry, I think it's too dashing. And yet, if I still understand why Eggsy is still a child of the 90s and not the late 80s, then why Valentine's birth year was changed is a mystery to me. I mean, Valentine was born in 1949, and Samuel L. Jackson was born in 1948. Why did this change at all?

ive noticed in fic that people tend to write harry as the confident outgoing type versus merlin who is the shy nerd but imo its kind of the opposite? merlin, although not necessarily outgoing, seems very assuredly confident in the no nonsense military type kind of way whereas harry gives me the impression that he was more awkward as a young man and his unruffled charm took a lot more time to cultivate. idk maybe i just read harry as autistic and im projecting

That's what I think about when I read a lot of fanfiction. And I'm glad it was mentioned.

I've seen different representations of Merlin in fan fiction, but the shy nerd is perhaps the furthest from the canonical image. And I understand that even the canon can be viewed in different ways, so I'm just touching on my feelings.

I love Merlin because he comes across as a strict but caring person.  He is a strict commander who cares for those who are under his command, as well as for his colleagues. As a rule, he is very confident in himself, and shows a lot of sarcasm. He has a sense of self-worth, and he values himself highly. For example, when he says that even a man like Charlie could kill Eggsy right away just because Merlin trained him so well. And he asks Eggsy not to take it as an attempt to brag, but… 

I know that Merlin gave his life to save Eggsy and Harry, but I think everything that happens in TGC must have greatly influenced his judgment. The poor guy lost the team he had worked with for many years and his workplace. He also blamed himself for this, although I consider him only partially responsible.

Merlin is a multidisciplinary specialist. He is probably a brilliant chemist, as shown in TGC, and possibly a genius inventor although this is not explicitly mentioned in the films. The key point in all of this is that he's talented, but also capable of making mistakes or minor flaws, just like the other characters. I just want to say that I appreciate Merlin, but he's definitely not the guy with the astronomical IQ and social interaction issues that he's portrayed in a lot of fan fiction. He is a brilliant, caring and confident Merlin.

Lepidopterist!Harry is a real nerd. You know, when Eggsy and Merlin first met him after the miraculous rescue, he had a book on his bed. Harry shaves and washes, which means that everything happens in the morning. That is, he read either at night or immediately after waking up, without having had time to put himself in order. And when Merlin and Eggsy leave, he sits down to read again. And he reads the book even after a while, when Merlin and Ginger flood his room with water. And I understand that sitting in a locked white room, you can hardly find many interesting things to do besides read. For example, well... Can he paint anything else on these walls besides butterflies? Perhaps if Harry had asked for vinyl records or cassettes of his favorite songs, the statesman would have done it. In the end, they gave him books and felt-tip pens. He might have the nerve to ask for a TV in his camera. But no, all he needs are books and markers to draw butterflies on the walls. How can you not imagine him as a nerd after that?

I've read fanfiction about Harry's younger years, and in many of them he's cocky and reckless and even a bit of a bully. And it contrasts so much with his image in TGC.

I also agree that Harry's agent should radiate an aura of confidence and communicate easily, because his job obliges him to do so. But just looking at him in his youth, there is a high probability that these are the qualities that he had to develop in himself, and not what was originally inherent in him.

I find it quite endearing that people think Harry is very bad at working with computers. I mean, he has a password that even the best Kingsman technician can't crack. And he quickly figured out the control panel of the cable car. And if I understood correctly, this assumption comes from the scene when Harry slowly, with one finger, types the password on Poppy's laptop. Well, you know, the moment when you're tired and wounded, you have to enter a difficult password, which millions of lives depend on.

In the movie "The King's Speech!" there is a moment when George V shouts at his son for not being able to read the text without stumbling.

The first thing I would like to say is that my stuttering has become less pronounced now, but it still persists. It was worse at school, and I sometimes got into the same situations. I remember how in math class we solved the examples one by one, in a chain. I should have read the example and said the answer. I knew the answer to my problem, but I couldn't pronounce the word "minus." And I had no idea what synonym to replace it with. At first, the teacher thought I had fallen asleep, even though I was just looking at my textbook and trying to pronounce the damn minus sign. Then she decided that I had decided to ruin the lesson and started screaming. Then I ignored the "minus" in the answer and just named the resulting number. They yelled at me again because the answer was supposed to be a negative number, and I forgot the "minus" in the answer. And I'm also left-handed, but fortunately I haven't retrained.

Secondly, the scene where Bertie reads an excerpt from Hamlet with headphones seems a bit strange to me. I know that sometimes people feel my little hitches much more strongly than I do myself. But most of the time I feel it when I start to stutter. Shouldn't the prince have felt like he was speaking freely?

You know, if they were making a remake of Who Framed Roger Rabbit right now, Mark Strong would fit perfectly into the role of Judge Doom.
