he squints at the short response, own expression expectant as they both seem to size one another up in turn. his brows lift as if to say, ‘ well? ’ to his credit, he does get what he asks for— but sol decides he prefers the silence to the way the man begins brushing him off almost immediately. he’s going to be one of those patients then, is he. then again, that’s not particularly surprising, given his parentage, let alone who he is alone.
“ i think you should let me take a look at you and decide if you can or not. ” the words are pointed, though they aren’t unkind. his manners may be lacking in his usual patience, but having a firm hand about these sorts of things isn’t entirely out of his ordinary, either. it’s his one job here; people ought to let him do it for their own good. “ unless, of course, you’ve spent years training extensively in healing while away, it might do you some good to be seen by someone who has. ” sol softens a touch, gesturing in the direction of the medbay. after all, the man does still look like he’s experiencing quite a bit of discomfort. “ i’ll take care to make it as quick and painless a process as i’m sure your own solution has been. ”
It hadn't occurred to Ben that this man truly wanted to help. He didn't prod into his thoughts, nor did he try to dig his way into the doctor's mind, but his intentions were true and honest as they rippled through the space between them. There was annoyance underlying it, but it was not to impede on the words he gave. That's what he wants you to think. Let your guard down and it will be the end.
The ugly whispered voice permeated his thoughts and tried to poison his mind. Fingers twitch as he balled his hands to fists for a moment. It was lying, it wasn't true. But what if it was? The fear slowly creeping in him made his heart race. The last thing he needed was for another heart attack. His mouth forms into a small pout as he tries to think of a way to escape. Causing a scene was certainly out, and the last thing he wanted to do was hurt someone. His options slowly came down to simply running away, which, was very much out of the question. I guess we're having a check-up...
"If I don't like what happens, I'm leaving." Though he felt defeated, he complied to the man's wishes. Ben was glad to see the medbay mostly empty, and the smallest bit of relief had started to roll through him. He hadn’t actually seen a medical professional since Starkiller. His self healing worked, but exhausted him. His side still ached, he hadn't been able to close the wound completely on his own still.
"I don't suppose you have my previous medical records." Hux wouldn't have been so kind as to transfer them, no. A joke more for himself than the other, he waited for the other to start.
