GOOD EVENING ALL i am suddenly thinking about the concept of fae existing in lotr and aragorn getting involved with them............ especially if they're like, the kind of dangerous kind. just slightly strange. bonus points if they're generally a well-kept secret, so the rest of middle earth at large doesn't know they exist (except via rumor??)

#ooc #idk! i'm pretty sure fae don't exist in lotr lore in a major way #so it's free reign for me to make up nonsense.............#and scary fae are Cool. though admittedly i'm not familiar with faerie folklore and such in general #i'm just making things up as i go........#anyway i am alive! and on adhd meds that so far work a little #so fingers crossed i'll be around more when i've got the muse <33

FRODO AND ARAGORN DYNAMIC MY BELOVED........... they might have one of my favorite dynamics in the films actually, even with the lack of time they actually get together past the first movie. they are so important!!

Aragorn wishes he had the answers to the questions Frodo so desperately asks. He, himself, has been caught in his head with doubts and anxiety, ever since the moment when Gandalf had made the decision he had. To sacrifice himself, for them. The questions are endless... But right now, he knows that he needs to be strong, because there are people counting on him - people like Frodo; a boy carrying a far greater burden than him.

"I cannot tell you what will happen from here." Aragorn says, reluctant, not wanting to shatter any hopes that Frodo has left; yet knowing the danger of empty promises just the same. "All I can promise... is that I will do everything in my power to make sure that nobody else is lost."

And that, he would solemnly swear by. But, Frodo deserves far more than what he can give... gently, Aragorn goes to grasp Frodo's hand with his own, if Frodo will allow it - praying more than anything for some words that might soothe the boy's spirit.

"We are here because we chose to be. And none of us had the right to place this burden on you." He continues; steady, sincere. "But wherever you might lead us, none of us will regret making this journey by your side."

He's sure it was the same for Gandalf too. No-one among them can blame Frodo for anything that's happened, or for the things yet to come; and there's nothing Aragorn can say that will take away the fear Frodo might hold for his own death, but at the very least, he wants to bring him some comfort - for him to know that none of this is his fault.

i really want to do something with the orcs at some point on here. the idea that they could be potentially redeemable and/or not inherently evil is one i'd really enjoy exploring - i'm a big fan of redemption arcs on the whole, but the idea of the heroes being forced to re-examine their view of "evil" is also a concept i also really enjoy in a story!

idk how canon compliant the idea is, but i've heard that tolkien himself was conflicted on whether or not orcs were an inherently evil race or not until he died?? though I'm not very well researched, so I may be way off. but regardless this blog is for being self-indulgent anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter too much either way :P

anyway because i'm obsessed with aragorn (surprising no-one) maybe i could write a thread where he gets temporarily turned into an orc (half-orc?) or something. somehow. and having to wrestle/deal with that & with no-one recognizing him while also coming to understand the orc's circumstances a bit better as a result??

#ooc #this isn't to say that orcs have been secretly good all along; i imagine that most of them are pretty awful at least to start with #but the idea would be that things don't have to stay that way. giving them some capacity for good; etc...#not sure if i'd go with an approach where they were influenced by sauron and/or melkor and that influence started to fade post-canon #and/or if i'd give them instincts and/or an inclination towards evil in some sense... like the kind you see in vampires; almost??#or maybe their tendencies are more explained by the circumstances and society they're born into #idk. or something completely different!#i just think that this kind of storyline would have a lot of themes & things to explore that i would really enjoy personally.#it is a meri-core plot. kjasfndsjkfs #there's a lot of very different ways to approach the idea of non-evil orcs so i'll have to spend some time thinking of which i prefer...#maybe different ideas depending on the thread would work too??#wishlist.

i'm adding miss rosie cotton as a testing muse too today, btw <33 i know we know almost nothing about her, but i think it would be fun to fill in the blanks + develop headcanons for her myself!
