Words of advice from the Salaf
Verily, your Lord is full of kindness and merciful
Holy Qur’an, al-Nahl 47
You learn more from failure than from success. Don’t let it stop you. Failure builds character. Remember that, when you replace ‘lose’ with ‘learn’ in your vocabulary, the thought of failure becomes less daunting and lets you focus on growth.
When you feel lonely, remember that you’re actually not alone. Allah is there with you. Allah loves you. No matter where you’ve been, no matter what you’ve done, no matter how deep you’ve fell, there’s forgiveness.
Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Beware of committing oppression, for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. Beware of greed, for greed destroyed those before you. It caused them to shed blood and to make lawful what is unlawful.”
Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2578
“Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hated you; And indeed, the Hereafter is better for you than the present life; And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.”
(Surah ad-Duha 3-5).
Some things you only talk to Allah about.
In college, I was a full time student working a part time job, the president of my MSA and held leadership positions in other community organizations. You could say I was a little busy, as I’m sure your lives are too. But every single day, I had a date that I would not let anyone or anything interrupt.
I didn't take calls on our date. Sometimes we took walks on the beach. Sometimes we sat in scenic parks. But mostly, inbetween classes, in a corner of the student union, and in the car, in parking lots and driving from one place to another, we saw each other and made our relationship work despite my schedule.
I was in a full time, committed relationship with the Quran.
You can be too. Make it a priority, the same way you would make a relationship a priority.
Commit to the Quran- as they say, til death do you part- but the Quran will be there with you, to accompany you and protect you, even after death. It will never leave you. What you did to connect to it here will be worth more than all that is in the world there. It will illuminate your grave when the light of every person has left you. It will help you soar through the heavens and ascend through its ranks.
If your heart can’t even open it yet, then just hold it and hug it and pray for you to be ready to be in a committed relationship with it. Then open it and stare at it. There is blessing in simply looking at it. And then take one verse and read it in a language you understand. And then another. Make a consistent amount you will do daily that is real and possible.
It is the type of relationship that is always ready to start off where you left it. Invest in it and know you’re only investing in your own bliss and success. Because when you sincerely open your heart to the Quran, it will open its secrets for you. And that is a love you will never for a moment regret.
“...truly it is in the remembrance of God that hearts find peace.” (Quran 13:28)
Ustadha Maryam Amir
Al imām Ibn Al Jawzi رحمه الله said :
❝The worst kinds of punishment for sins is :
Losing of Imān (Faith)
Losing the sweetness of seeking Allāh's help, aid and asking Him
Forgetting the Quran
Neglecting Istaghfār (Repentance)
And the lightest of punishments is that which affects the body in this Dunya (worldly life).❞

[ذم الهوی ص ٢١٠]
Umar Bin al-Khattab رضي الله عنه:
“I am not worried about whether my du’a will be responded to, but rather I am worried about whether I will be able to make du’a or not. So if I have been guided (by Allah) to make du’a, then (I know) that the response will come with it.”
(Al-Awāyishah, pg. 117)
After death, you will not carry with you what you got, but what you gave..
Attract others with your character and not with your appearance. Little by little it will be taken away and in the end, only those who loved your heart and character will stay in your life

Photo credit: ayatannur.wordpress.com Assalamualaikum… Feel like it has been a while since I just ranted on here. And there’s so much going on in my mind I just feel like ranting. Don’t know where to start but whatever. I’ve always admired people who were really brave, because I never was that person. But Allah helped me throughout my life. And I can’t help but just think how incredibly lucky I…

Soo I finally came around to doing it! I’ve been wanting to start an Etsy shop for a while but I have to admit it’s kind of scary, but we all have to start somewhere I guess. So my Etsy shop is called NightUponLight. It’s so nerve wracking, but I’m also excited :) Please check out my shop! And if there are any Etsy sellers out there, who have tips or feedback please let me know!
