“Nick Wilde! You’re late, again. This is the last time and you can’t do it again!”
“You’ll have to meet principle Big.”
Horror flash across his face, everyone in the whole campus knows the fearsome principle Big, even though no one ever saw him but they all know well enough that he’s not a nice little principle. The last one who met him alone because he has accidentally ate principle Big donut has mysteriously disappear and his whole family seem to vanish to thin air.
Nick stare hard at the bunny in front of him, trying to trick his way out if this situation. His troubled face is quickly was replaced with a sly one.
“Hmm.” A sly grin make its way across his face as he stoop to the same level of the bunny in front of him.
“How bout we make a deal?”
“A deal? With a fox?” Both of her long bunny ears drop down and her eyes fill with suspicions and doubts. Not like Nick hasn’t got use to it. But the way she put her paw on her hips and the way her ears drop down makes her cute. Totally worth being late just to see her in this state.
“Yes, a deal. We both know how good friends we are when we’re kids right?”
“Nick…” Her voice stern and clearly aware that whatever in his mind is definitely not good, warning him at the same time that they’re still at the school campus and anyone could know their background story, which is not good, seeing that they’re both different animals.
“How about you shut up about me being late for old time sake and I’ll tutor you for your exam? If I remember correctly, you get second place don’t you? Do you remember who got first place?” Nick says, a knowing grin on his face as he ask Judy, the nerdy school president bunny.
Her face is blushing from anger or the weather, he didn’t know. But he do know that he’s enjoying it.
Her chest rise, an obvious sign that she took a deep breath to calm herself down and trying not to have a heart attack from a conversation with Nick, the sly school jerk fox.
She use to have a crush on him which she thought was normal, but time pass, and she realise that romance between two different animals is unlikely to happen, much less say between a predator and prey. It wasn’t like the fox has the same feeling she has anyway..
“Who take the first place last exam?”
Judy stare hard at him, her eyes look into his, trying to figure out what he could get out from this. Swallowing the lump, she spoke out the name.
“Nick Wilde. The sly school jerk.”
One of his brows raise as he look at the bunny face, amused.
“Why, thank you for the detail introduction. So do we have a deal?”
Silence and glance are shared between them, each trying to figure out each other.
“Deal.” Judy accept Nick paw and a firm yet brief paw shake exchange.
When Judy pull away, Nick try to hide the disappointment away in his eyes, and they focus in the carrot pen that Judy has been carrying around.
“Well, I’ll get going. Class’s starting soon.”
“Yes, go ahead. Try not let there be a next time again.”
Nick say nothing but the smirk on his face and the mischief twinkle in his eyes make it clear he can’t guarantee that.
Just as Nick pass beside her. She could hear he said something.
“Nice to see you still keep the carrot pen I give you, Carrots. I thought you would have lost it, seeing that you being such a klutz when you’re little.”
