Mount Katahdin -- one of the best places in Maine to feel lucky to live here.
Never have I experienced a mosquito gauntlet like the 30-minute trek that leads to this beach (even during the day!) ... but it's worth every blood-draining second to get there.
Direct routes are for the birds. I've never met a detour I didn't like.
Old friends, new friends, BBQs, beach walks, and sunsets - weekends don't get much better than this one.
The rain stopped. The clouds parted. We made it just in time.
I had a lovely breakfast on the deck this morning, which helped to make up for the fact that I shut the door behind me and locked myself out of the house.
Our day hike up Tumbledown Mountain served as a valuable reminder about the importance of regular exercise… and custard.
"The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize, that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation. For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you."
Neil deGrasse Tyson
